Granted this is a highlight but he looks mobile to me
And he ran a 4.5 40 shows great arm strength..

Not only can he sling a football but he could have one hell of a career as a waiter in the restaurant business - looking at that still picture of the video clip.

Garrett Gilbert had 1 start in his entire NFL career. Looked good for a half against the Steelers but turned to garbage in the 2nd half when they figured him out.
Before you start talking about someone's "entire NFL career", you should probably know what you're talking about or you will most assuredly sound like an idiot as you just did. Garrett Gilbert is an established veteran QB, prior to coming to the Cowboys he had multiple years of game time experience. The game he started in 2020 with the Cowboys came down to the last play. Your misrepresentation of his performance during that game only makes you look foolish. It's a matter in the record books and we all saw the game. Revising history as you tried to do... shameful.

They released him, we want him!

We must have him!:D

Blimey! We set our sights so low.
You're a hard one to figure out, you don't use enough vowels to be a true Brit.

What's your story mate, if not too personal of a question.

And I'm for competition, if he comes cheap, bring him in.

Nah. I've been watching Mullens since he was @ SoMiss. He deserved his shot in SF, but he's not the caliber of QB that Driskel is. Some forget or didn't know, Driskel was one of the top QBs coming out of HS, and signed with the Gators. He's a bigger boy than Mullens, and his arm is a cannon. He fits the part.
I think, we can hide DiNucci on the practice squad. But we really need to part ways with Cooper Rush, before camp. Give me Dak, Gilbert, DiNucci and anybody else. Nick Mullens or Jeff Driskel it does matter as long as Cooper Rush is gone.

DiNucci doesn’t belong on an NFL roster. I have never seen worse mechanics by an NFL QB than his 1 start against Philly. His awkward sidearm throws were horrendous.

Garrett Gilbert had 1 start in his entire NFL career. Looked good for a half against the Steelers but turned to garbage in the 2nd half when they figured him out.

I am not a big fan of Driskel but I am OK with them turning over every stone to attempt to upgrade a backup QB situation that is probably the worst in the NFL. Besides we need some OTA and camp arms.

Not to defend DiNucci, as he didn't play well...but he's still inexperienced in the NFL. When Romo came into the NFL, didn't he throw more with a sidearm than traditional and had to learn to correct his mechanics?

I'm not saying DiNucci is anything close to what Romo was, but the dude was a rookie and a 7th round draft pick...those guys are typically development projects and shouldn't even see play-time their rookie year.

Not before camp. Rush is a camp body that will be needed. Once camp is over, bye Rush.

Garrett Gilbert deserves to be the back up just on the sole fact he took over for an injured Colt McCoy in the national championship game against Alabama and almost won.

I would have preferred someone drafted by the Cowboys in about the 3rd to 5th round in his 3rd or 4th year with the team. Dak goes down, this guy knows the system, knows the players. He is motivated by the fact that he can be showcased to other teams since his rookie contract ends either that year or the next.

If he should succeed then the Cowboys can trade him the following season and reap huge rewards.

I would really like to see the Cowboys make a commitment to draft a Quarterback about every three years in the midrange of the draft. I've always considered 6th and 7th rounders to be an exercise in futility unless they have a really great and exclusive scouting info on him. Perhaps its someone that graded out much much higher on their board. And, yes, I'm including Brady in that group.

Home grown QB backups seem to make a lot more sense in terms of familiarity, salary, and especially potential.

That's what they did when they drafted Dak. That turned out pretty good, don't you agree?
You have our team mixed up with New England and Green Bay lol

He couldn't win the starting job on a team without a QB.

Nuff said.

Nor could Gilbert. Many backup QB either lost starting jobs or never became a starter but found a good role as a backup like a Colt McCoy. I have nothing against any of Gilbert I also have nothing against brining in any other QB to compete for the backup spot.

I thought Gilbert played well when he got the start against the Steelers.

Not sure what else a QB off the street signed 3 weeks earlier could have done. Played a very good game. With that said, they needed to bring in a veteran like Driskell to compete with Gilbert. Denucci is simply no match.

33 1/2 inch arms, if he does not make it as backup QB we can move him to corner seems like a win win.

Driskell has a great arm and he is a good scrambler , his arm is stronger than Dak’s .
Gilbert and driskell will be the backups . Overall a good move

Yes, as this is more about experience vs less experience. Everyone thinking Gilbert is really good based off one game. Is that enough experience to be the back up. Driskel has that.
Agree, good move.
