I agree that Dinucci wasn't ready. However, Romo showed signs that he could make plays. He gave you hope. Dinucci left me wondering how he was ever even a college QB. Ever throw, except his first throw, was wild and awkward looking. Having OTAs, training camp, and preseason games should benefit him. Hopefully, he can show us something in preseason.
This this and this!!!!

I watched him at JMU and it was the same thing. Being raw, making mistakes but showing promise is one thing. I just haven’t seen much positive from him

Romo was never forced into the lineup as a rookie. He would have been equally as awful if that had happened.

Jeff Driskel played for the Lions in 2019 and started against the Cowboys.

Good one, Dak obviously enjoyed his Big OL protection, but Driskell had to evade pressure and make some throws.

I'm perfectly happy with Garrett Gilbert being Daks backup and the Nooch on the PS. Bringing in Driskel seems unnecessary unless he's an OTA and camp body but it's too early for that.

Diskell is a professional backup. Like a mini coach at this point. You don't want a newbie serving as the #2, that isn't a spot for a developmental guy, it is a spot for the guy who helps the developmental guy

I can’t imagine anyone looking as awful as Dinucchi in that game. It wasn’t even about his decision making as much as it was his mechanics. He looked like one of these side armed pitchers in baseball. Everything about his game looked awful. It was brutal to watch. But like you said, he never should have been put in that situation.

Romo had to completely change his mechanics, he threw sidearm as well. People who saw him in pregame warmups laughed at how his arm was so weak.

Yes, as this is more about experience vs less experience. Everyone thinking Gilbert is really good based off one game. Is that enough experience to be the back up. Driskel has that.
Agree, good move.
gilbert needs play time and a chance to show his skills at normal conditions . last year he barely got a chance with a broken OL . Too bad there is no preseason games anymore to test players

Doesn't matter if Driskel gets signed. Gilbert will beat him out for the backup spot.

I agree with this. You want a guy with experience in the NFL as the backup. Remember the huge difference it made when we replaced backup Babe Laufenberg with Steve Beuerlein. We basically had no chance to win with Laufenberg, but Beuerlein went on a winning streak for the team, quarterbacking us to the playoffs.

I don’t think so. If they were sold on Gilbert, they would bring a guy like Rush or an UDFA in

I would personally call Jacksonville and see what they waned for Garner Minshew. He has two years left on his rookie contract, both under 1M (850K/965K). The current depth chart in Jacksonville puts him on the outside: Lawrence, Beathard, Minshew, and Luton.

I'd love it if the Cowboys brought in the stache!

DiNucci doesn’t belong on an NFL roster. I have never seen worse mechanics by an NFL QB than his 1 start against Philly. His awkward sidearm throws were horrendous.

Garrett Gilbert had 1 start in his entire NFL career. Looked good for a half against the Steelers but turned to garbage in the 2nd half when they figured him out.

I am not a big fan of Driskel but I am OK with them turning over every stone to attempt to upgrade a backup QB situation that is probably the worst in the NFL. Besides we need some OTA and camp arms.
We should never again waste a pick on a QB if you are gonna then cut them based on being thrown in with no camp and no oline

Beuerlein had started two years for the Raiders and he was only going into his 4th year. I doubt Driskell is going to be anywhere as good as Beuerlein.
