You suck at this. Beatles albums are a thing of the past. We have the advantage of talking about them in the past tense. A "good" song is a matter of opinion, it's subjective, while a top album is based on sales and is more factual. McCartney telling Lennon he was surprised their Sgt. Pepper album was so successful is neither right nor wrong. It too is a subjective statement. Critics give their opinion which is neither right nor wrong.

On the other hand, talking about Parsons's future in the NFL is from a totally different perspective. We have no such advantage of talking in the past tense. It's pure speculation so there is no wrong or right predictions about him, only opinion. He is being hyped way too much, IMO. AN OPINION. Don't police my opinion.

You are nothing but one of many critics, just like all of us. You gave your opinion. You called Parsons 'nothing but snake oil.' You own it. The Sgt Pepper critic gave his opinion immediately after it debuted. History proved him to be an absolute moron. History may prove you right. History may prove you to be wrong.

You suck at being a critic. Just honest, constructive criticism. You act like Mr. Big Chest and go bold with an opinion (cool, I like that) and then slither away and backtrack, and caveat, and pretend you said something else. Not cool. You call a player 'snake oil' and then when confronted and made to look like an idiot, you backtrack and say the player might be a solid player but nowhere near that one-game highlight. Not cool.

You called the Parsons snake oil and now are upset people may hold you accountable to your potentially ridiculous opinion.

Perhaps you don't know the meaning of snake oil.

When I am the only one stating the original thought while everyone else speaks as if they are in an echo chamber, you tell me who is dogmatic? The echo chamber. At this point, there is no wrong or right about Parsons. It's all speculation. That will change in due time. Until then, spare me with your judgemental "come up wrong", "looks bad" assumption. All I am saying is I don't think the hype he is getting is deserved. We'll just have to wait and see who is right.

With all do respect, that is not all you said. Does the term "snake oil" mean anything to you? You predicted Parsons to be a failure this year.

This is the bowl game that Parsons played in at AT&T Stadium.

If you haven’t watched his highlights from this game you should take about 11 minutes to watch what this guy can do. It is only highlights from that one game but he makes quite a few plays in it.

It is easy to see the blistering speed that he plays with and even though he’s still just figuring LB out, his instincts for finding the ball and negotiating through traffic on the way to the QB are very good. He has a real knack for getting home on the pass rush. When he decides to go… he moves with rare suddenness and explosion.

Keep in mind that he is just a true Sophomore here and this is just highlights from one game. Phenomenal talent.
A]

I like what I am seeing...but I will say this again....Penn State didn't play many big games. 2019? Idaho, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Maryland? Only one team in the top 10 (OSU #2). So he SHOULD dominate.

Now the other side of the coin, I will use our Zeke. The last 4 games of the 2014 NCAA championship against the very best the NCAA had to offer...mighty bama and media darling Ducks among them. 800+ yards and 10 rushing tds. (That is a seasons work for many NCAA RBs). He broke bama's back and pulled their spinal chord.

First round total stud. (we can debate his recent production and price tag...another time).

So I don't really see that here. BUT...it is the year of covid, and we have a defensive staff that seems to have a sturdy direction. I've looked at our LBer's as pretty soft of late....partly due to front and back defense..and partly due to health/lingering injury. I'm hoping Parsons can be worked over (developed) to be the big plug the middle needs. Good speed and point of attack....just might be there. But this is the NFL now...not Penn State playing Buffalo.

Hoping for big change at LBer!

Parsons is being sold as something he is not, IMO. That is snake oil. Having said that, it says nothing about what he is, which we do not know yet. He could be good. BUT I DON"T THINK SO. If you have an issue with that then have some patience and in due time, we shall see.

first off ill say this like the pick,

he was high on my tier 1 first rounders we should take so i like the pick.

however ,

one it was against Memphis...

Two i bet i can find a highlight reel for Jaylon smith last year in colleges or the bowl game before he destroyed his ankle/foot.. he was projected first round cant miss LB pre injury..

Jaylon smith had every bit of an impressive college career on good team..

would toy like me to dig it up or will the no way comments be saved for now :))
I understand but the Memphis offense was pretty potent that year. I know they aren’t Alabama… but neither are they North Dakota State.

There are guys who played at tiny college’s who don’t dominate their competition like Parsons did here. Khalil Mack played at Buffalo and against tiny schools. Why wasn’t every game he played like this one with Micha? Mack played schools way smaller than Memphis.

Also, Parsons had plenty of other games that were damn good… some as a true freshman in the big 10. At the time of the cotton bowl, he had already made first team all-American as a true sophomore. That obviously didn’t happen because of this game against Memphis.

Parsons’ two years at Penn State were impressive to everyone.

And of course you don’t have to go find Jaylon’s highlights… but I will tell you that I don’t ever remember Smith having a game as dominant as Parsons’ Cotton Bowl. I mean, maybe he did but I don’t remember it.

I’m not sure why Smith is the automatic comp for Parsons just because they were both linebackers. There have been plenty of super talented LB’s that came into the NFL and didn’t have the issues that Smith had… and that is without even talking about the injury and how that has changed Jaylon’s game.

And really, I don’t think anybody is expecting to come in to the NFL and dominate like he did in the Cotton bowl.

I am glad we are back to square one. No more backtracking. You called Parsons snake oil. You own it and stand by it. We will find out soon if you re correct. Too easy. You get the credit and can say 'I told you so' if correct. If not, people can laugh at your erroneous opinion.

He has to make two pro bowls in his first three years for me to be wrong. LOL

You are giving an outcome, prognosticating, or dare I say, giving more than an opinion. Facts, can be proven; while opinions are subjective.
It's an opinion. When it is proven wrong, please come back to collect your pound of flesh from me. Until then, piss off!

All im saying is all those very down on JS, he had college highlights and was also lock first rounder before the injury..this is why Jones took flyer on Jaylon, he watched the highlights..

I will after I state this fact. You did not say, I think he will be a failure. You said, he will be a failure. There must be something to your prognosticating, because I just came from taking a leak. Wow!

If you want it that way. Fair enough. I can give you some slack. It is a measurable parameter. We differ on the meaning of snake oil. But it is all good. We are all Cowboy fans and here to have some fun. I'll go with Parsons making the pro bowl two out of his first three years.

My grandfather listened to someone on tv in the 50s-60s telling him to put vinegar on his knees to cure arthritis. Grandfather later learned that person was a quack and laughed at himself for walking around smelling like vinegar for years.

Thank you for posting that. I enjoyed the watch. Here are a few of my observations:

1. Man among boys, at least against Memphis. Memphis appeared way overmatched by the Penn State defense. (Lots of breakdowns by Memphis’ OL).

2. His speed is elite and evident on film.

3. Love his nose for the football on this film.

4. I like how you can tell he is disgusted with himself (even when he makes a play) but could have done better (int). It seems sincere and he isn’t a grandstander.

5. He is big enough to make a play, but if he was slightly bigger he would be a DWare playing linebacker.

In this game, he looked like a pro-ready player playing amongst a bunch of amateurs. It won't be that way once he is facing pros. Also, this was the last game he played. How rusty is he going to be? How far of a setback was opting out of his 2020 season? I don't like highlight reels because they tend to set up unrealistic expectations and I especially don't like this highlight reel. He is used to being a man amongst boys but when he gets in the NFL he will be a man amongst men and will most likely fade in the mix. I'm not sold on this kid.

That's pretty much what my thinking is at this time, also. It might very well take some time for Micah to overcome the year-long layoff that he had last year. Hopefully, he'll be able to assimilate what Quinn's defense requires in a reasonable amount of time.

I can't claim not to be sold on him, though, since his talent is widely considered to be so exceptional. As the same token, I don't expect him to be an instant success story from the get-go, without some much-needed adjustments and added development to be forthcoming.

I think it's wise for many of us to keep our expectations at arm's length until he's had time to adjust to a new system and surroundings. He's still a rookie, without doubt but an exceptional talent, as well. We'll see how things go for him. I'm just hoping for the best, whatever that may be.

If it's wrong most people won;t remember. Joke-ing won;t come out of the hole for it.

Like you say...if right....we'll hear no end of it. We know his type.
