How did I know just by the title that there would be some talk of "but if this or that go our way we're contenders"?

The defense was middle of the pack in 2019, in fact better then that (top 12), and we still went 8-8.

A middle of the pack defense means nothing when your offense does nothing against above average competition.
You mean the year the team quit on Garrett........ yep let's use that cause 2 years ago the offense is the same, the coaches are the same, everything is the same so great point

They won the division last year, so yes.

Until proven otherwise they are the favorites to win it again this year because they have a defense. If the Super Bowl proved anything it's that a good defense will win you games more then a good offense.
When is the last time an NFC east champion won back to back......

It's a three horse race with GB, TB and LAR with SEA and SF back in the pack. Just a little farther back are AZ, DAL, MIN and WFT.

Washington or the Giants are winning the division this year. The Cowboys and Eagles will battle it out for 3rd.
Now you're adding other teams. You said Washington is the favorite cause they won last year. It's an easy question, when is the last time am NFC east champion won back to back.

By the way Dallas was still in the race going into the 2nd to last game and that's with the worst defense in the league and garbage QBs in Dalton, Dinucci and Gilbert.

You say Dak is an 8-8 QB...... that wins the division last year

Why venture further then when the team was healthy in 2019?

I mean do you really wanna talk about the 1-3 2020 Dak run? I don't see how that helps your case though.

Playing dumb now eh?

LOL.......and now were back to team record only the last 2 years. You trolls certainly stick to your cherry picking I will give you that. This conversation is a yawner at this point.

Are you trying for a "gotcha!" moment?

I said Washington is the favorite in my eyes. I don't care one single bit that the division hasn't had back to back champions in a long time. Not. One. Single. Bit.

If Washington and New York will be battling for 1st place. I'm realistic. They look like the two best overall teams in the division.

You talk like the division is going to be historically bad again. If the Cowboys can be better then why cant the other teams be better also? Are you just banking on the whole division, besides the Cowboys of course, to be historically bad again?

Dak went 1-3 last year. Dalton was winning at better pace then Dak. Save it.

So you think they’re a good team then?

True, it is subjective.

That analysis is flawed...imo.
But I guess they all are.

No big deal. It's preseason.

But SF plays these potential playoff teams

Packers
Rams
Rams
Seahawks
Seahawks
Cards
Cards
Titans
Colts
Vikes

others too, but they are more like the Bears, etc.

They do have 3-4 games that they should win for sure though.

That doesnt look like the easiest schedule out of 32 teams....not even remotely close.

here is a little write up on their reasoning:

I was admittedly a little taken aback to see San Francisco come out with the easiest record when I ran the calculation, simply because the NFC West is a pretty tough division. Arizona’s average win total is 8.2, LA’s is 10.5, and Seattle’s is 9.5. There’s no easy game in there.

But when you see the 49ers’ out-of-division schedule, it all makes sense. The NFC West matches up with the NFC North, which brings at least one (perceived) easy game against Detroit (where the 49ers have opened as 7.5-point favorites in Week 1), and the AFC South, which brings two (perceived) easy games against the Jaguars and Texans. Then their extra three games come against the Eagles, Falcons, and Bengals – the benefit of finishing last in your division the year prior.

Five of San Francisco’s 17 games will be played against teams with win 2021 totals lower than seven, while another two come against teams with win totals lower than eight. They only have to deal with two teams whose win totals are greater than ten: the Rams (twice) and Packers. The latter’s win total would drop significantly without Aaron Rodgers as well.

Winning a weak division at 7-9 make you a contender? Do you realize the Cowboys were 6-10?

Your agenda is showing again.

How about a defense that gives up 40 points a game. Will that win you a lot of games?

What matters besides the the recent record? What is wrong with using the most recent years? What do you have against that? That's like saying "Hey man, why you talking about the most recent Cowboys? They won 3 Super Bowls back in the 90s! Why aren't we talking about that!".

or my faviorte...

"Hey, Dak was on pace for 6,000 yards and 70 TDS".... yeah, but the team was 1-3...."So what man! Dak though!"
