I respect the opinion and well thought out post but there is also a crowd saying Watson is overrated despite the record stats I posted earlier. I feel people have no objectivity on QBs and overrate ours. At least it feels that way. So far in the past week I’ve heard Rodgers is overrated, Watson is overrated and Stafford has never been good. “Shrug”. But at least you are willing to see what happens
Stafford has been in the league 12 years and he's made 1 Pro Bowl.
I wouldn't say he sucked by any means but compared to his expectations as 1 overall coming out of college he has underachieved.
All that said Brady was trash 2 years ago when he had no weapons and we saw last year how weapons matter as he was a top 3 QB quite easily.
And this is clearly the best overall team Stafford has been a part of. --provided the defense doesn't drop off with the loss of the DC.
Aaron Rodgers is arguably the most gifted QB of all-time. He is almost certainly a jerk but his raw talent is his raw talent and the NFL knew he was a jerk when the let him fall on draft night.
I'd rank him 1 if there weren't a younger version of him in PM5. I think Mahomes, Brady. Rodgers are top 3 with a bullet. 4 falls off a shelf compared to those 3.
Watson is really, really good but there are people who ignore his obvious flaws--holding the ball wayyyy too long primarily. He's a top 5 guy imo if you ignore the off field stuff but it's really hard to do that.
Talent-wise he is better than Dak in raw ability. But he isn't more mature or a better team leader at least not yet.
I think his value was above Dak pre-massage issues but that no longer is the case. Rightly or wrongly all this drama drags him down a good bit.
Fans that watch every play of Dak and are critical of him ignore the same performances from their faves. It is a strange thing to see on a Cowboys board tbh.
We saw Dak improve in accuracy, the deep ball and his footwork and pocket presence. He puts in the work and got better in those areas which were serious weaknesses at one point.
And he's always been a great team guy.
He's pretty darn easy to root for.
But he's coming off a serious injury and it's perfectly OK to ding him a bit for that and say hey we need to see if he's mentally and physically 100% to start the year.
Rodgers and Brady have proven through double digit seasons they are great. They deserve the kudos every ranking. Mahomes has made plays unique to himself in league history. So he's pretty untouchable.
All the other guys can trend up or down week to week.
Simple psychology says you'd like your guy in that mish mash pack of guys pretty much near the top.
