ADMIN EDIT:

"Definitely very mature," Cox said. "He's ready to work. He's not scared of competition and I think we're going to make each other better — him pushing me and me pushing him. So I can't wait to get things rolling and he's one of those guys that he's really going to be great for a long time."

He also revealed which linebacker positions they were lining up at. Parsons and Cox join a linebacking core of Leighton Vander-Esch, Jaylon Smith, and Keanu Neal.

"Right now, they have him at the Mike and me and the Will, but we're able to interchange and play multiple positions — the Mike, Will and Sam," Cox said. "It's really interchangeable, so we're learning all three. But right now, he's at the Mike and I'm at the Will."

I’m very excited to see how the linebacker core goes into the season. I really hope cox and parsons both end up on the field together more than we think. I know cox could be the odd man out and on special teams his first year but hopefully he can make an impact during camp and preseason to show he belongs on the field.

time will tell.

Corps.

I know I'm being the grammar police, but it seems like a lot of people think that core is the correct word when it's not.

Corps means "a body of people engaged in a particular activity." Core is the "central or most important part of something."

So Parsons probably would be considered the core of the linebacker corps.

Don't mean to be picking on you. Just thought I'd put that out there for those who might not know the difference.

Apologies to those who are offended by anyone who wants to correct mistakes.

Hopefully, he takes the advice with the intention it was meant.

In randomness, I offered the some grammar advice to a young lady who was selling baked goods in a FB group and she kept putting the dollar sign behind the amount. 400$ vs $400. It drives me nuts.

She thanked me, but she probably rolled her eyes, in real life. lol

It seems like in this age of political correctness that correcting is seen as offensive unless it falls into certain categories. I understand that a lot of errors are due to auto-correct, typing too fast and posting without editing (which I'm sometimes guilty of), but I really don't understand why some get offended over being corrected.

I would never try to belittle someone for not knowing the correct word or possibly just making a mistake, but I do think it's OK to actually put what is right. ... And that's the last I'll say about that because I don't want to hijack this thread.

Glad we have a solid Pro Bowl vet like Jaylon that can help coach them up!!! *Ducks for cover*

I could be wrong, but I really think Jaylon is going to play much closer to his Pro Bowl form than what we saw last year. I think what we have at linebacker is going to allow Quinn to play him to his strengths.

I believe he will be better in 2021, primarily because of DQ. However, I also believe Parsons is going to start at Mike and put Smith on the bench on passing downs.

Finally, I would not be surprised if both Cox and Parsons were in the starting lineup on obvious passing downs. Who the Sam LB is going to be eventually is anyone's guess.

I'm sorry what strengths? He doesn't do anything well except run fast in a straight line.

No worries, bro! I’m one of those anal “grammar cops” myself. I watch game shows like Chain Reaction, and the difficulty people have with simple words makes me NUTS!

He was quite good in 2018 when he and LVE were both healthy and playing next to each other. He fell off in 2019, and was completely lost last year. However, some act as if he was never good, which is false. Can he get back there? I have no clue, but I think there were reasons the last couple of years for his decline in play.
