Anyone that studied a little could see that Parsons is a complete stud. NOTHING like either of those guys. He is EXACTLY what the Cowboys are their defense needed. Not a TE.

I'm on board. :) I fully expect Parsons to be blowing up the "middle" of this defense next season, we haven't seen it in damn near 25 years....LOL

I think because of his horrific injury, the best he could ever hope for was 75-80%. Then you add being used wrong, and you’ve got a mess. IMHO, Quinn will help him have a bounce back year. Not Pro Bowl, but at least a contributor to the rotation in 2021.

Jaylon Smith has kind of become the scapegoat for the Cowboys' horrible defense last year when there were many more players that actually graded worse; including Leighton Vander Esch, every defensive lineman not named DeMarcus Lawrence, Xavier Woods and Deonte Thompson at safety, Jourdan Lewis, etc, etc, etc..

Smith played horrible. I get that. But misery loves company and that almost had to be, 99.999 percent, Mike Nolan's scheme. Dan Quinn will fit his scheme to the players he has; and Smith is going to benefit from that. A lot.

What exactly is it that we are going to see?

If he's as bad as you believe he is or if there are things that affected his play that will be corrected under Quinn, like I believe. I know your mind is made up and when it gets that way, you turn belligerent toward those who disagree with you. I don't know if he'll re-find his game under Quinn or he'll be cut next season, but when a player who was playing well starts playing poorly, I generally think there's a good reason for it. Maybe we'll find out that the answer is just that he had a moment that he'll never be able to replicate or maybe he'll be used in a way that will allow him to shine. ... As I said, we'll see.

For the people that keep saying Jaylon was only bad because he was used wrong last year, what have you been watching? Other than swiping and selling sunglasses, what is it exactly he did well the last two years that you wanted to see more of? You don’t tailor your defense to a mediocre at best player. Most of all, and please be specific, how exactly should he be used that would make him a good player because I just haven’t seen anything good lately and I don’t know of any defense that he would be good in at this point.

I could be wrong, but I really think Jaylon is going to play much closer to his Pro Bowl form than what we saw last year. I think what we have at linebacker is going to allow Quinn to play him to his strengths.

And what are his strengths? He can't run.....He can't cover.....Constantly takes bad angles in tackling...misses gap assignments all the time. Other than that......What's not to like?

NO one see's Jaylon as being good...don't worry..you aren't alone here.. He can say "look at the tape" all he wants... It just backfires everytime. LOL

Hopefully, he takes the advice with the intention it was meant.

In randomness, I offered the some grammar advice to a young lady who was selling baked goods in a FB group and she kept putting the dollar sign behind the amount. 400$ vs $400. It drives me nuts.

She thanked me, but she probably rolled her eyes, in real life. lol

She might be French Canadian. I was curious so I looked it up. English Canadians put the dollar sign on the left, while French Canadians put it on the right.

Of course, the way languages get butchered on social media, I'm not surprised by anything I see. There have been plenty of times I've struggled to figure out what someone was saying because of the misspellings, wrong words, etc.

A linguistics professor I had said that as long as people communicating can understand each other that qualifies as language, even if it is things like emojis. However, sometimes I think I can better understand emojis than some of the sentences people write. :)

Not here, though ... with a couple of notable exceptions at times. Not saying who, but most will probably know.

Slow down some. Every year it's hype coming out of OTAs and TC. Then they play their first game and get punched in the mouth.

This may turn out to be a really elite squad. I predict the depth will be critical. The gods of football are a vindictive lot.

There was NEVER a pro bowl form with Jaylon. I know he made it, but it was still surprising. Must have been lots of injuries that year or they were all in the Superbowl.

This is completely false and revisionist history. You’re not gonna sit here and pretend Jaylon wasn’t good in 2018 season because he definitely was.

The year he made the Pro Bowl, he had a team-high 142 total tackles, which was tied for seventh-most in the league. He had more solo tackles than all but three of the players ahead of him. He also had nine pass breakups and 2.5 sacks. Only two of the players who had more tackles than him had more sacks. Yet, he's obviously sucked every year.

In 2018, which I feel was his best year from an eyeball standpoint, he had 121 total tackles, which tied him for 13th in the league, but added four sacks, which was better than all but two of the players ahead of him in tackles. That was the year Vander Esch had 140 tackles to finish third in the league. Smith also forced two fumbles that year, recovered two and scored a TD, so maybe that colored my perception that 2018 was a better year. (He forced two and recovered one in 2019.)

Now, to be fair, he finished with 154 tackles last year playing virtually every snap and was third in the league, but we know that he struggled getting to his lane as the defenders in front of him failed to hold up blockers and he was making plays downfield instead of in the backfield or around the line of scrimmage ... although he only had one fewer tackle for loss (5) than he did in each of the previous two seasons. (For comparison, Darius Leonard had 7 tackles for loss each of the last two seasons after 12 as a rookie.)

Totally agree. I think it had alot to do with the a new DC and Leighton getting hurt earlier in the season. Plus we had the worst Dline in the league. Dontarie Poe was pushed around like he was on skates and no one to plug up the middle.

If the DT play improves, then he will look better because he wont be exposed as badly with lineman getting to him. With more talent around him he will play better. I have no problem with that. Thats par for the course.

I said two things:

1. HE had a good year, but it wasnt all pro good. I was shocked he and LVE made the pro bowl.
2. Does it really matter what happened 3 years ago if his play has fallen off and he is getting older?
