Factoring in the additions from free agency and the draft and what we have seen so far from OTAs (yes, I know some people consider them glorified underwear Olympics), what is the potential Achilles Heel for this team right now? For me, it would be the center position. No one on the team with starter experience at the center position. A big question mark at center right now with Biadasz.

Tyron says Biadasz is doing well for a 2nd year player. He's only played a game or two last year but looked decent. Pulled a hamstring pregame and didn't see any time after that. A big unknown right now for backup center.

Have the Cowboys penciled in Biadasz at the center position or will they have some real competition from McGovern, Farniok, and UFA from Houston Braylon Jones? I wonder if we might see Steele get a chance at center, or maybe Knight.

Center is the one position I would be most worried about at this stage. Injuries and question marks could be most problematic here. I guess Looney might be the backup plan if all else goes south. But, I imagine Looney may find some suitors if other teams get hit with injuries at center.

Safety might be a bigger worry for some but I think the center position is much more important than safety.

GM is a bigger concern.

He looks unhealthy fo sho. Must be genetic because Stephen looks poorly too. As a medical professional I would prescribe several doses of Johnny Walker Blue:

Nope, a GM's job is to field a team which can compete for the division title and compete for a super bowl. It's early but I see that right now. Don't know what more you want the GM to do at this point. Not talking about the past, talking about this season right now.

Looney can sign with anyone and all the other options have played zero snaps at center in the NFL.

Nobody has any money. Looney is probably not considered an NFL starter so who is gonna dish out any FA money and the Cowboys are is well off as anyone in the cash department. Good chance he stays in Dallas.

I’d still say DT until proven otherwise.

C you have a high potential guy who has shown flashes of dominance in the run game. I think you have some depth behind him that can at least give you at least serviceable production. Not saying C will be a strength of this team, but I don’t see it being a major liability.

A more likely option for Dallas would have been to re-sign Looney to a modest one year deal which would have allowed Biadasz more time to develop into the starting role.
Looney was really bad last year though. I love the guys personality and truly am a fan, but the production just wasn’t there.

Why would Terrance Steele be an option at center ?
If Looney isn't an option to return as a backup vet the closer we get to camp time, then i would think OL coach Joe Phillipin continue with Williams as a emergency pinch center, as he did
last year's camp.. or experiment with McGovern as well.

While i do worry about Biadasz's durability as he's had to battle injuries at both college/NFL level so far, i'm confident in his pedigree that he will smooth out as
an solid NFL starter the more he gains NFL experience.

I just cannot factor rookie 7th rd draftee Farniok into the mix at center, until he's in pads and pounding against the trench guys at the NFL level.
Have to see how he handles and if he can hold his own.
Either he surprisingly forces a Knight or Steele off the roster or ..or he becomes practice squad material.

I believe we have an offense that can compete. I also believe the GM has put an ad-hoc defense together. As much as I like Parsons, and do believe he can be a great player, his selection is just another example of panic from our personnel folks. Feel free to disagree, but all the defensive moves I have seen are akin to throwing the dice on the craps table and hoping for the best.

what part of Looney's game that was bad ?
What’s a nice way to say all of it? Poor against the run and pass last year.

In watching film almost every time we had a breakdown on the Interior it was due to looney. It could be argued that he was worse than either Steele or knight last year, despite being sandwiched between a decent G and a HOF G.

from an optimistic viewpoint looney has performed much better in the past. Last year could have been issue of no dak, two rookies at T forcing our Gs to help outside, new position coach, etc.

My biggest concern is that there are Underwear Olympics that I was totally unaware of and have obviously been missing out on.

DL is still the biggest concern. IDL to be specific.
Yep
Biadasz played pretty solid in the games he played last year and those reps and a real off season and pre season will do wonders
He came in with virtually no camp and no pre season games

Why would Terrance Steele be an option at center ?

I thought he played admirably for an UFA when thrown into the mix at OT all of the sudden due to injury. I thought he showed some real potential and players like that find a way on the field. He looks like he has the build to anchor down against the bigger DL and can use leverage and has decent speed to get to the second level. And on gameday he bring good position flex since he can also play swing OT. Adding backup center to his abilities gives the Cowboys more flexibility with the roster on game day. Same with Knight.
