our back up QB position is really weak, I have no confidence in Gilbert, despite that one half game he showed a little against Pitt. Danucci? paaallleeeaassse.... Rush...been there. done that...and it smells of desparation...so perhaps if we spent a 6th or 7th on Minshew. reports are he is available for a trade and they are asking a low round pick. he has starting experience. won a few games, without much talent in Jax. perhaps something the team should consider.

plus, that mustache and the cowboys.....huh? huh? comeone doesn't that conjure up images of the 70s cowboys....

I see no big reason why our FO shouldn't seek to solidify their backup QB position. They must have lots of confidence in Garrett Gilbert to be as reluctant to acquire Minshew as it seems. He's good. Was last year's one game experience with the Steelers truly enough to justify that? I wonder. o_O

Last year we had Dalton & in 2016 we had Romo for part of the season. Other than that, when have we ever had a viable QB as our backup in the Jerry era? If we lose Dak for more than a game or 2, we're chasing next year's draft pics.

I'm pretty sure what they have seen in practices factor in as well.

He’d fit right in with the cowboys. All image and little substance. His back up position would have threads about his need to start after every loss. Thankfully in game threads aren’t allowed because the threads would appear after every bad drive

We aren't a legit Super Bowl contender so I don't want a backup to win games .
If Dak gets hurt we need to lose out.
Yet Minshaw performed well and has playing time, played in 14 games in 2019 and 9 in 2020.
Dont believe he is looking for a starting gig, he would already have it so he knows what he is at this point.
Dont know the numbers, somebody can chime in please with the cap specs would be nice.

I agree 100%. I think he could hold down the fort for a few weeks if need be. I thought of him in past backup QB threads but I didn't think the Jags would trade him. I think he's a starter in this league so he'd make a great backup. Maybe he wants too much money?

Jags have Minshew and Beathard backing up Lawrence. They have some other QB named Luton or something.

Beathard has $2.75M guaranteed. I would think the Jags would keep 3 QBs. If Luton shows something in camp, the Jags might trade Minshew. I doubt the Jags would trade Minshew now. Better to wait and see how camp turns out with injuries and players stepping up. An injury to Lawrence changes everything.

Minshew can play and won’t embarrass a team. I think he will have more trade value after camp and even more during the season. Jags would be wise to wait. I doubt a 5th pick or later is accepted.

Cowboys are probably going to have some players with trade value after camp. Might be able to swing a player for player trade.

Orton...Kitna....I completely disagree with your assessment, we have actually had a pretty decent run of backup qb's in dallas over the past decade. Its usually one of the backup spots that we have a very solid veteran.

I go there. And I want a guy who has won in the NFL. Offer a deal. Beggars can't be choosers.

They could be waiting for roster cuts from other teams and pick up a veteran or trade for one If one of their own doesn’t emerge.

There is no downside to Minshew. He's 7-13, 37 TDs, 11picks in two years. His contract is under $1m thru 2022.
After that he'd walk looking for a possible starting gig.

We have too many good young players to take that approach. Many complain about the culture in Dallas.

If you have a challenging month at your job, does everyone just mail in the rest of the year? If so, they all need to be fired.

There have been several legit backup QBs since Jerry bought the team. Recently I'd say Kitna, Orton, and Dalton.
