There is no downside to Minshew. He's 7-13, 37 TDs, 11picks in two years. His contract is under $1m thru 2022.
After that he'd walk looking for a possible starting gig.

Would you trade that for a late round draft pick? Jags would be crazy to get so little for a QB with starting experience and possible upside.

Jags have Minshew and Beathard backing up Lawrence. They have some other QB named Luton or something.

Beathard has $2.75M guaranteed. I would think the Jags would keep 3 QBs. If Luton shows something in camp, the Jags might trade Minshew. I doubt the Jags would trade Minshew now. Better to wait and see how camp turns out with injuries and players stepping up. An injury to Lawrence changes everything.

Minshew can play and won’t embarrass a team. I think he will have more trade value after camp and even more during the season. Jags would be wise to wait. I doubt a 5th pick or later is accepted.

Cowboys are probably going to have some players with trade value after camp. Might be able to swing a player for player trade.
Thats where Im at as well, if an equitable deal can be made than I want to see it happen.
QB2 is a major weakness at the moment.

As we gaze through the current group of available qb's, there is not one name that would produce a vote of confidence for the position. Outside of Driskell, names such as Mullens, Moore, & Griffin III are still floating out there looking for work.

One could sit here & wonder if the Cowboys dropped the ball by not prioritizing the position sooner. o_O

our back up QB position is really weak, I have no confidence in Gilbert, despite that one half game he showed a little against Pitt. Danucci? paaallleeeaassse.... Rush...been there. done that...and it smells of desparation...so perhaps if we spent a 6th or 7th on Minshew. reports are he is available for a trade and they are asking a low round pick. he has starting experience. won a few games, without much talent in Jax. perhaps something the team should consider.

plus, that mustache and the cowboys.....huh? huh? comeone doesn't that conjure up images of the 70s cowboys....
Read they are looking for a 5th or 6th a few days ago. Worth it to me for sure

Not a fan of most of the FO roster decisions but I would support this one.

A fifth or sixth and paying a million a year for off the bench insurance is better than where we are now.
Of the rookies that started in 2019 Murray, Jones, and Minshew, Minshew had the highest rating, threw the fewest picks and won more games in less starts.
Daniel Jones threw 24 TDs, Minshew 21, Murray 20.
Murray had the highest completion percentage at 64.4%, Jones at 61.3% and Minshew 60.9%.
Murray is the only one to play 16 games. Minshew and Jones played 12.

Would I rent him for two years? Sure.

Orton...Kitna....I completely disagree with your assessment, we have actually had a pretty decent run of backup qb's in dallas over the past decade. Its usually one of the backup spots that we have a very solid veteran.
There have been several legit backup QBs since Jerry bought the team. Recently I'd say Kitna, Orton, and Dalton.
I stand corrected, but in my defense I have a hard time recalling last week sometimes.

I think Gilbert played well against the Steelers and he almost got the win with backups protecting him. I would roll with Gilbert.

Judging by the way this FO is doing nothing so far, you seem likely to get your wish, unless they're waiting for a late acquisition. Waiting too long to acquire a good backup QB won't help their chances of readying one adequately, though. It needs to happen in time to properly prepare him. I'm not knocking GG, however. He might pleasantly surprise us, once again. Actually, I'd like nothing better than to see it happen. Whatever it takes to win. I'd also like to see Gilbert and Minshew compete in TC, with the best man getting the #2 spot. Would Stephen be willing to spend the extra $$ for that? Maybe not.

Dak's ego couldn't handle it.
dak is use to competition. not many rookie qbs could play so wel they keep a great quarterback like Tony Romo stuck on the sidelines.

the problem with this team is too many guys get their “spot” and don’t feel they could lose it after.
