They are living off olds. Most young people view them as a joke. In Dallas, they take a back seat to Luka and the Mavs with the youth.
NFL takes a backseat to the NBA, that's pretty hard to believe anywhere outside of LA and Boston. I don't think any viewing or ticket data would support that claim.

I agree and according to the ratings NBA has fallen big time. NFL is down like other sports but not as low as NBA

I raised three sons, all of them watched the Cowboys every week as they grew up. My oldest son was 12 the last time the Cowboys won a divisional playoff game. He’s 37 now, and he and his other brothers consider the Cowboys a joke. They are all 3 huge Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars fans, because those two franchises have won two league championships and 5 conference championships since the Cowboys last did anything. They will watch a Cowboys game with me but they gave up on the Cowboys years ago.

The franchise has become synonymous for futility in sport. Who ever thought the Dallas Cowboys would become the bengals and lions. Its certainly been hard to watch amateur hour in the front office for the past 25 years.

They lost me when the game became nothing but a 3 point shooting contest. Booooooooring!!!!

More and more fans are being turned off by pro sports. People love sports as an escape from every day life and really do not want immature over paid athletes lecturing on how to live their lives. Play the game that is what you are paid to do but alienating fan base will not fly.

Bullet, I and several others in here could tell you why the NFL has not been so popular lately, but we'll be banned for life. Hahaha

I have several friends who refuse to watch NFL and NBA games but not willing to get banned on for the reasons behind it. lol

Yes. I don't understand your point.
My point is the same as it has always been. I have basically been saying for years that teams rosters follow along with the statistical bell shaped curve. Most lineups are essentially the same overall. Meaning from GM to GM they basically do about the same job as far as a grade for building the team. Some get lucky and land a stud qb that then takes that team and puts them into the next tier of teams that will essentially compete for the SB every year. So while people love to do what was done in this thread and say well if all it takes is a qb, why does Brees only have 1 sb win? That argument is ridiculous IMO. Having the HOF qb puts you in the running to win it all, but guess what? There are other HOF QBs scattered around the league that will also win it all. Only 1 gets a SB each year.

People all say well you need more than just the qb/.... well no kidding. But again, using the curve, if you take the teams inside the middle of the curve, they ALL have rosters capable of winning a SB, some just lack the QB. So if so many have the lineups, that means GMs, as are coached, are all basically the same.... they are ALL good.

Brady left the Pats and BAM... crapola. More proof... Manning and the Colts won 10 or more games for 9 straight seasons. Then manning missed a season and they won TWO, TWO FREAKING GAMES. So what happened to that roster? must have really been no better than any other team, but that QB... yea, he was special.

The Broncos had 5 straight non winning seasons prior to Manning's arrival. Manning showed up and the Broncos won 13,13,12, and 12 games and went to the SB 2 times in 4 years. hmmmm...I guess the GM and coach just figured it all out and made the right moves and put those pieces in place to help manning out, right? cmon........ the numbers are there. It tells you all you need to know about rosters and winning and losing in the NFL.

Chiefs are another example. Solid coach, solid roster, but in now way a threat to win a SB. Mahomes takes over, and pow.... instant SB contender for the next decade. Did Reid all of the sudden make up some new plays nobody has ever seen before?

And then we have the Pats and Bucs. Brady leaves and the Pats became horrible, he arrives in Tampa and took a team that had 1 winning season and ZERO playoff appearances in the previous 9 seasons and wins a SB in his very first season there. Dont talk to me about Fournette, Brown or any other player that came along for the rde.No Brady, no title, no playoffs even.

Brandon Staley is gonna be the next young, bright, football guru, you watch.

You're using the same poor logic you're accusing others of using.

I can agree with this statement. I was an avid fan of the NBA, but rule changes and social media, has ruined the game for me. On the other hand, no matter what changes have occurred in the NFL, I have adapted and continue to watch.

I agree. I have been a football junkie for a very long time. I have enjoyed the NBA over the years but not with the same passion as football, having said that given what is taking place in the NBA it was no big deal to walk away from it.

No doubt Brady was a vital addition. But do you think they have the same level of success without adding Gronk, Fournette and Brown on offense with an offense that was potent coming in not to mention a top 10 defense?

Let me ask you this. Do you think Brady last year wins the SB with any team?

I’m a huge Brady fan and he definitely elevates that team but as we saw in NE, he needed some support or they’d of won more Super Bowls.

Just like in our glory years going to 12 championship games with a team talented enough for more success , we ran up against better teams and had some upsets. It happens.

In the NFC Championship Game, Brady threw three 2nd half picks. Green Bay turned the first into 6 and got nothing on the last two picks totaling -5 yards in 6 plays with Rodgers sacked twice. This ain't rocket science.

bahahahhah.... I was born in 1970, and by 1978 I was already hearing about soccer taking over all sports in this country.... well soccer still is a joke in this country after a kid gets past 14 years old.

NFL popularity is waning? what evidence supports that claim?

Lots of evidence. All you really need to do is look at the numbers but the Chief indicator, IMO, are the numbers around Youth and HS Football. Those are the grass roots numbers. 2014 might have been the peak of Football in this Country. I hope not but things seem to be trending that way. In 2014, the NFL enjoyed something like 34 of the 35 top watched events, attendance for College Football was at it's all time high and Youth and HS Football had like 2.5 million kids playing. Since then, numbers have fallen steadily. Kids, 6 thru 18 playing organized football in this country have declined by 620 million. This strongly suggests that the popularity of Football in general is in decline. Now, betting, that's a different story but that's not Football and should not be confused. Football is in decline and the NFL is no exception.

Good ...... That is the only thing that could actually make POS Jerry change how he runs this team.
