The Cowboys are giving their rookies one extra week of work before sending them off on summer vacation.

Linebacker Micah Parsons, cornerback Kelvin Joseph, and the rest of the first-year players will undergo a one-week “rookie school” at The Star in Frisco. The sessions that started Monday are designed to give the newbies added one-on-one exposure to the coaching staff and time with the playbooks, an opportunity to ask questions and crunch film now that they’ve gone through OTAs and minicamp practices with the rest of the team.

“Pretty much most of the things I do are a reflection of my experience of coaching quarterbacks,” McCarthy said, as quoted by Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. “When I look at rookie school, I think it’s kind of a wrapup of the old quarterback school that I was part of in the early ’90s where you had that extra time. The point I’m making is there’s always- for a young player- there’s always moments in meetings and even on the field where they really don’t want to ask the question because maybe the timing or they’re totally not sure.”

Watkins points out that the Cowboys are set to enter training camp with 25 rookies, 11 draft picks and 14 undrafted free agents in addition to 19 players with two years or less of experience.

Dallas finds itself in something of a youth movement, with a roster that was fifth-youngest in the league last season in terms of snap-weighted age.

This may surprise some folks but according to @fboutsiders SWA, the Dallas Cowboys were the 5th youngest team in the NFL last season. The future is bright for the Cowboys… #cowboyszone #Cowboys pic.twitter.com/KZ400qWPKl

Putting too much pressure on these dudes to perform day 1 smh.

This is a team that simply can't handle any pressure. Might be time to apply it early. The other way around hasn't been working.

These guys are still soft as a baby's arse. When's the last time someone described a Cowboy as being a beast?

After this week they will have tanned hides and be ferocious.

They get to beat up Rowdy, but that does not take much to do. But it is a start, day one, then they go to Garrett look-a-likes day two.
Then move up each day until they get to be that ferocious beast.
:D

BS.
This team even under Garrett, and last year with all the injuries, they NEVER gave up. They kept playing until the bitter end.
Pressure has nothing to do with it.

lol it has everything to do with it. When the season is on the line and it's win or go home, that is pressure and they SUCKED.

Never gave up is just more Garrett BS.
