He's listed as a DE so no.
I thought he was part of the 1T rotation with Urban and Bohanna.

I can't see how he plays elsewhere in this scheme.

He definitely isn't a LEO....but he sure doesn't look like a 5 either.

Is he DLaws backup? Guess so. Seems off to me but I can't say for sure either way.

What I saw were LB being too aggressive trying to make plays as opposed to maintaining discipline and their responsibility. I saw way too often LB over pursuing and running themselves out of the play. Guys have got to know their responsibility and carry it out not trying to be the hero. Defense works because every player carries out their assignment when you have a break down in assignment you leave big gaps that can be exploited
that was part of the problem. I think Nolan's defense on paper is good, but way too complicated given all 11 players had to be perfect in carrying out their responsibilities. when that happened, they were good. however, chances are that it didn't and thus we tended to give up a lot of big plays.

I remember watching Watkins play in college and thinking he was going to be good. Hopefully, he is and it is with the Cowboys.

I can not wait to see all these new defenders in action. Watkins winning a day at camp now is ok but what matters is what he can do in a game.

and that is your view I really have no respect for it because I really have no respect for you. I know you impress yourself, I guess you can settle for that.

I can settle for that and being right.

Have fun in fantasy land where Watkins is an impact player until next year's FA stiff comes along to make you feel better.

Really do not care what you do. You want to be a jerk, I'm accustom to seeing that from you. You can express your views without the rest of your crap.

Am I supposed to pretend Watkins is an impact player to make you feel better? He might not even make the roster.

No, there are others who felt the same way and left off the stupid comment "And I think you'd have been excited if they fattened up Jerry Jones Jr. and put him out there."
Others who doubt Watkins I respect their views even if it is different than mine

You are clearly entitled to give any view you wish but you can do it without the BS attack.

Carlos Watkins came out with some bounce at Tuesday's practice, literally leap frogging a standing tackling dummy. That's an impressive feat for a man weighing in at 6'3, 300 pounds. The fifth year defensive tackle, former fourth-round pick ,was very impressive showing powerful hands in reaction drills. Watkins is athletic and maintains balance when engaged. He's a very good striker with above average bend.

I think Cowboys have done well in addressing the interior DL and I think Watkins has a chance to make an impact on this DL with his size and agility

I hope we have upgraded the de position.
Our defense needs serious help.

My understanding is that he's a decent pass defender, but not a real good run defender. He played 3-4 end and 4-3 tackle for Houston, so considering that Quinn wants to use some 3-4 concepts, I now think that's why we brought him in. I thought we brought him in as a 4-3 3-tech option since he's slight upgrade to what we've gotten from our interior pass rushers (Gallimore and Hill) so far. Good insurance if neither is able to take it to the next level. We may be looking him as more of a 3-4 end in the base, which I don't think is his best fit.

We wanted to improve our run defense by bringing in Urban, drafting Odighizuwa and Bohanna, etc. If we brought in Watkins for that same purpose, I don't really understand the move. I only understand it if he's competing for interior pass rusher playing time.

Carlos Watkins is a roster filling JAG. This is not what a team does to address a glaring hole.

It is what this team does.

I don't mind the Watkins' signing in light of the fact that the Joneses are not going to spend much in FA. I don't expect much to come from it, but maybe he'll be able to play a role, much like when we signed Terrell McClain from the Texans a few years ago. He's not the answer for the glaring hole, but we seem to try to fix the DT spots by committee instead of ensuring that we get a dominant player who is able to both pass rush and run defend.

I like seeing the batted balls. doesn't seem like we get nearly enough of those out of our DL
We need some DTs with Leon Lett’s height and size. These short DTs have become the trend in Dallas , but I always liked tall defensive linemen.

He’s got to b
1. Odigizuwa
2. Urban
3. Gallimore
4. Hill
5. Bohanna
6. Watkins

1. Lawrence
2. Gregory
3. Golston
4. Basham
5. Armstrong
6. Anae

How many D-line players do we carry..9...10? Considering the guaranteed money (or lack of) compared to Urban and Basham, Watkins is right on the fringe of being cut IMO.
