Gregory has missed the Mega Million Train. He could probably get a decent 1 year deal from another team but nobody is signing him long term unless it is Jerry.
Coming off a double digit sacks season why wouldn’t anyone sign him long term?

Dak, "guys get all you can for yourself, they use to be more but you know, I deserved the king's ransom. so get what's left over" lol, I can hear him saying that and the groupies saying. "well jerry is a trillionaire so who cares, let them get what they can."

Because if I am an owner and I have limited cap space, I don't want to spend a significant portion of it for a high risk investment?

So, as an owner do I want to pay this guy a multi million dollar contract and remove him from an environment where he has struggled to even get on the roster for 6 years? I will give him 25 million guaranteed to move to Miami? LA? New York? and just assume all the mental problems will just stay in Dallas.

By the way I am a Gregory supporter.

Team friendly deal at a discount rate.

Gregory owes it to this organization.

And before all the "he owes this team nothing" posts, remember, this guy was suspended 3 or 4 times and basically missed 4 seasons. Most, if not all, organizations would have moved on from him by then and could very well have never been resigned.

2 year extension at 16 million (9 million guaranteed).

That's fair for both sides. Cowboys get a solid DE with upside for the next few years at a discount rate bland Gregory will have one more shot at cashing in on a final contract if he plays consistently well.

Get it done.

LOL....if Randy is representing himself and you can catch him after bong night with Willie and the boys, he just might sign that.:muttley:

Randy may or may not be willing to give a team friendly deal, but now is definitely a better time than at the end of the season. Again, it would be showing faith in Randy. And Randy isn't over the hump yet. He's still waiting for his first big contract. Locking some in early is a big deal for the financial security for his life.

What is high risk about him? Why did he struggle to get on the roster?

It would make sense to sign him to a team-friendly deal now, instead of waiting until he has a breakout year and wants more money. It would be wise to have plenty of ways to cover the team in case Randy finds another way of getting suspended.

He’s never gone two full seasons without being suspended. Move on already Jerry. You can't/won't ever change those stripes.

Couldn't cope with the rules of the game? I realize they have changed the rules but nobody has ever changed the rules for me and you.

Whatever those reasons were they are still there.

If we get a discount then hell yes. Just remember others we paid early expecting them to continue an upward trajectory, Austin, MB3, Jaylon, Crawford. Im sure the list goes on.

I'm also not saying you're wrong. We just need to tread lightly.

Gregory did nothing wrong to be honest. NFL has all but admitted the pot rule was ridiculous. At least he’s not some immature chump like zeke. Gregory needs this next contract for his life money. This is his opportunity coming up.

Gregory owes us a thank you, but he doesn’t owe a big discount. 9 million isn’t a bad number. If he puts up double digit sacks and plays well against the run. I wait until after the season.
So breaking the rules is not wrong. Which rules does everybody get to decide to break on their own whim?

That said, if if it truly was for medical use I think he should have been allowed just like any other prescription narcotic. However, no way to tell the difference between medical use and recreational use . So tough luck, nobody is above the rules for illegal drugs!

You seem to have both a bizarre, irrational obsession with Dak, and a shocking inability to participate in a discussion that doesn’t involve Dak.

The issue he got suspended for is no longer an issue. There is no risk going forward.

Not above the rules. Those rules are gone. The drug isn't even illegal anymore in many states. Gregory needed it for medication for his anxiety condition. Doesnt seem to affect other parts of his life.

I get the sensation that the relationship between Gregory and Jones is pretty decent.

I am not concerned about getting him signed long term provided he can play a full season.

There is give and take on both sides here.

what exactly has Gregory done to even warrant a league minimum salary? Chk out his sacks in all his years in Dallas. Another guy the fuhrer and son should have never drafted.

Randy Gregory, only owes the Jones family gratitude. Concerning his money, he should get as much as he can. Last time I checked, gratitude, cannot pay bills.
Being unemployed doesn’t pay bills either. Dallas was the only team in the league that would have stuck by Gregory through all of his problems. Jerry has a soft spot for players with problems. Gregory couldn’t have held a job as a people greeter at Wal-Mart these last few years. They give drug test too. Dallas should make him a reasonable offer and he should be willing to take it. Without Jerry, the guy would have never had another chance to play pro football or rake in the money that NFL players makes.

The guy has more pass rushing ability than the rest of these clowns combined. With weed no longer being a problem, Dallas finally has a chance to get something back for the 2nd round pick they used on Gregory. This is not the time to get rid of him. That should have happened way before now. A contract that protects Dallas if Gregory screws up again and is based on his performance would be good for Gregory and the team.

Im not interested in potential just look at his sack totals for his Dallas career. He is yet another player that has never reached his potential, signed a contract not commensurate with what he has produced, and represents another “reach” pick the fuhrer is famous for.
