A question about the QB

I already told ya...zeke facing the top 3-5 teams in the whole NCAA to win the NC.

Sorry you can't accept reality. Poor thing.

Ooh i'm sorry i didn't realize Zeke played QB in college....You did say you dont think Dak faced the same level of competition as other QB's or did i miss read it?

My thoughts:

I believe Dak shows more leadership than any QB that has been a Dallas Cowboy except Aikman and Staubach. He stepped into the job after Romo went down and embraced the starting job. Did the team sculpt the play calling to not overwhelm him? Sure. But his leadership was revealed from day one. The team respects him and sees him as their leader. Because of his leadership. Part of that leadership entails his off field decorum. As much as Roger was Captain America and Aikman was an extension of Jimmy Johnson, Dak Prescott fits the America's Team moniker because of his behavior on and off the field.

Part of this behavior is his unfailing dedication to improve. The guy works on his game constantly. He is a first in, last out type of player. Dak leads vocally, but his work ethic is without question in the very top of Dallas Cowboys that have come before. He is going to work on his game, strength, and mental aspect of film and learning his job, more so than I have seen other QB in this franchise display. If you know the work ethic of Michael Irvin when he played, Dak is shoulder to shoulder with him as far as being the best he can be.

What I read here about Dak's skill set, in most cases, does not reflect what I see on the field. Does he occasionally throw and errant pass? Yes. All QB's do. Shorter passes tend to be a it high. But that is livable since he also is very frugal with interceptions. Last year was a perfect storm of mistakes, and Dak shared in them. But this filtered throughout the team. I believe the entire team is better than what we saw last season. That includes Prescott.

Overall, I am satisfied with Dak. I think he can be a difference maker. All QB's must have talent around them. That includes Brady. My belief is, with the team playing to its potential, Dak can lead them to an NFC Championship game. From there let the chips fall where they may.

I never said "zeke played QB in college"...why the fq are you arguing that?

gawd people are such idiots.

I was giving an example of playing at a higher level.....

You are such a homer you can't see an example when it's shown in your face.

Why do you HATE zeke THAT much?

Yes, I know, another Dak Prescott thread but this one isn't really about him, it's about your perception of him as the DC QB.

Has your perception changed and why?

I am one of the few that watched him throughout his days at Miss St from being the starter as a junior, because I watch a lot of SEC, and his story connected with me as I had lost the person closest to me to the same monster.

He got on the Heisman watch because of his legs and the better defenses in the SEC took that away from him his senior season and forced him into more of a pocket QB. He did not look comfortable to me.

He got picked in the 4th, about where I thought he should go because accuracy on a consistent basis was not his game.

I was aware of how he got his HS and college starting jobs in the same manner but also intrigued as to why the starter couldn't take the job back. Little did I know this 4th rounder, longshot to not be on the PS to start the season, was to repeat what he did with Dallas as he did in HS and college.

I am not in either of the extreme camps regarding him, I am somewhere in the middle but I used to think just as Aikman did, you can't fix accuracy and he hasn't to the point of being Brady or Rodgers but he most definitely has improved in that area. He will still make those errant throws but what QB doesn't?

I am just interested to see how many are in that camp with me? Because that QB that started 2020 didn't even resemble that QB I watched at Miss St. Not even remotely.

I have seen this man work on his game and improve every season and I am intrigued as to where is his ceiling? How good can he be?

BTW, this isn't about how much he's being paid because I don't care about that. They had few options to signing him and this is just about how has your perception of him and his talent changed since he became a Cowboy.
Dak works extremely hard on his game every offseason. He’s made huge improvements in his game and now has full grasp of Moore’s offense and confidence in his own abilities. There’s no reason not to think he will continue to improve. How can you not think highly of him as a pro QB?

He’s definitely a completely different passer now than in 2016. A lot better footwork/release (hips) and it’s clear he can make every pass in the book.

I like Dak, but to be a top 5 guy he’s gotta be more consistent on a quarter to quarter basis. If he can put 4 quarters together more often I think he can take the step from good to great.

He’s done the work to improve the skills, now it’s just a matter of displaying them consistently.

I was going to say basically the same thing. Thing only thing is in 2019 he showed much better mechanics early in the season but around mid season he seemed to revert to his old mechanics and his accuracy suffered. In 2020 he came out with the good movement again but got hurt too soon for us to know if he can keep up the good mechanics for a full year or will he revert back to his bad habits as he did in 2019. I am hoping he starts strong and finished the same way. The Cowboys can win a SB with Dak, but obviously it will take more than him to do it.

If that was a BAD team I'd accept you premise. The TEAM lead DAK.

It was a VERY good team and Dak didn't HAVE to lead.

He did well....but a JUGGERNAUGHT team...Dak did not HAVE to do anything. How many carries did zeke have?

Let's ask Joe Burrow which team, he'd rather have landed on.

What is the difference?

HEre we go again with 20 pages of Dak. You knew what you were doing.

It's my opinion that he never face(d) the same competition or big games as other college QB's.[/B]

I use zeke as my crowning achievement of NCAA achievement. The 2014 national championship....he face the top 5 teams in all of the NCAA of that year. . Michigan, Wisconsin, the mighty Bama and the media darling Ducks.

The first "playoff" of the NCAA.

He put like 750 yards, 8 tds in the final 2. Against the very best the NCAA had.

Dak?
Dude, he played in the SEC you know with Alabama, Clemson, LSU, etc? Damn, haters are some hating sum biscuit eaters.

Umm you ok man ... your having a stroke or something because your memory is fading fast. A) your opening statement was about the competition Dak faced in college vs other QB's so i said "what conference do you think has the most competition? you have since gone on about Zeke to the point now somehow I said I hate him...again, you good bro? Do we need to call in a wellness check for you?

MY.... "opinion" is about what PLAYERS face competition in college. If you want to keep it so NARROW about ONLY what DAK faced....okay fine. You do that.

I am talking about NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

You obviously do not want to talk about that. Cool.

I just asked what conference you thought had the most competition in the NCAA, Im guessing you ment to say the B10. Most would probably say the SEC west but again you made that so wierd and way harder than it had to be.

he "played in"...and what did he get?

While ZEKE DESTROYED bama and media darling ducks.

Lean them to....what?

Not sure why I am engaging with such silliness. Lowest common denominator makes you the lowest.

I am showing the HIGHEST achievement of NCAA...and a guy who asserted his will to win it. That is all....

Sorry that you found it so hard to follow along. Glad you were able to catch up.

The the B!G does play big games...it's a tough conference that goes out and 4-5 deep plays other conferences regularly.

My comment was not really to directly answer your question and be subjected to your objections. But...to show an instance of NCAA historic achievement against other NCAA HIGHER talent.

Sorry you object to it so much.

Can you be a little more respectful and leave the vulgarity out?

2 things that have always stood out to me from his rookie season to now.
1.tough as nails...physically...mentally.
2.he has improved...every single year he's been here.
that speaks volumes about so many things.
•committment....that doesn't just happen.you have to work at it.
•coachable....he obviously listens and then implements it.
•leadership.....they see it....it's easy to follow somebody who gets down in the dirt right along side you.

Dak is worth the wait.
he's a good'n.
