This is a passing team now?

It has been since Kellen Moore took over. They spent years building a physical front to run behind and then in 19 completely abandoned the years worth of investments and time in the philosophy.

It has backfired completely.
Yes it is a pass first team . With the OL and QB and Cee Dee and Cooper , this is the talent and financial reality of the cowboys. But this team played enough to beat the SB champs tonight

Chris Collingsworth properly called it: Dallas wasn't going to succeed running into TB's front 7. Esp. without Martin.

The game plan gave us a chance to win. Huge props to Kellen Moore, Dak and the offense.
Agree . Kellen took what was there and the offense lit up Tampa’s defense .

It wasn't necessarily a negative tonight. A lot of those passes were short/quick throws that essentially replaced the running game. It's similar to what Brady has done the last 5 years. They had a big advantage in time of possession, which is what you want to keep Brady off the field anyway.

There was no place to run. The OL was overmatched if you are just playing straight up.
Zeke is still grossly overpaid . Jerry made a mistake paying him and even selecting him 4th overall . Now he is a fullback that costs 20 mil a year !,

when the team relied on him and designed the roster around a running game they did a lot more winning. I think winning is the idea of the game.

No running game ? What does that mean ? Dak threw 80% of the snaps . All 75% plus drop back passing percentage ended with 0-7 according to Espn . But it seems like the way the country will roll . This is a huge paradigm shift for the cowboys.
The Bucs have the best run D in football. The Cowboys decided their chances were better passing the ball. I'd expect to see different game plans against different opponents. Don't overreact to one game against one specific opponent.

Do you think it was the wrong game plan tonight?

It was the right plan and produced enough to win against the SB champs at their home . The defense needs some support . But this team is talented and can improve .

we literally had the lead with a minute and 30 seconds left on the clock, so the offense wasn't the problem. We were moving the ball at will on a team that held Mahomes to 9 points. The issue is we had a defense that does what Cowboys defenses do and never holds at the end of the game... not to mention we had Tom Brady leading the last drive and we know what he is capable of.

They weren't running against this front seven even with Martin.

Had Zuerline simply made the 24 yard chip shot, we’d have won.

The OPI would have had an affect as well, IMHO.

Bottom line we changed DC’s drafted almost everyone on that side of the ball yet Brady moved up and down the field to the degeee Leftwich the Bucs OC said the heck with running the rock just fling it around the field. The D has to improve . As far as FG kickers they don’t grow on trees so good luck replacing this one with anyone accurate

I think it's a team that adjusts to what the defense shows or what its strengths are. Tampa is a very tough team to run against, but it's secondary was questionable. Why run into a front seven that is playing close to the line and has a very stout front? Make them think we're running or might run and pick them apart with the pass. That's what a good defense does.

The Bucs didn't want Zeke to beat them, so we almost showed them we could do it with the passing game. Next week, if the Chargers drop more into coverage to take away what they saw from our passing game, maybe we hammer them with Elliott.

That's true offensive balance.

Why? They are completely equipped to run on anyone in the league. Now they are only good enough to run on bad run defenses?

There are lots of ways to run the ball and this idea that they just can't do it is crazy to me.

Idk if you realize how nasty their front seven is. Go back and look at what the ypc was against this front last year.

He's way overpaid and over-rated but he will have much more impact in some games this year.

Don't see your point. We had 450 yards and 29 points. Almost won despite our mediocre defensive personnel and Martin out. That's a huge success against top 3 defense. Brilliant coaches take what defenses permit.

We might have forced it and had 80 or 100 yards rushing, but it would have seriously shortened our drives and cut into our scoring.

Agreed . Kellen took what is available
