The play no one is discussing

It wasn’t a good block but Zeke should have cut it upfield once he saw there was no chance of getting outside. There was still a soft spot inside to run in.
I partially agree. Zeke wanted the home run, because it was there. It could also be said that Jarwin should have seen it too, and used his footwork to adjust the block. Either way it's a problem having only one guy who is a good blocking TE.

A perfect example of the limitations of Zeke.

Now having a different look from the TV broadcast its clear Zeke could have easily made lemonade out of lemons.

Jarwin had inside position on the defender (Winfield #31) which is why it was so easy for him to separate from Jarwin because Zeke took the play wide. Had he simply made an easy cut inside, Jarwin is already in position to just wall off Winfield.

It was a tough block for Jarwin, defender running away from him. He needed to stay with him better and give Zeke the cutback.

Zeke was still terrilble. Carrying the ball in the wrong hand...prevents him from even trying to get the corner and giving the defender a stiff arm. Also make him prone to fumbles as a defender will put his helmet through the ball.

NEGATIVE

The defender didn't know what play we were running. Jarwin did. Jarwin knew the play was going outside, so it was his job to get his arse outside quickly and gain containment on the defender. He failed to do that because he half- arsed it out there. Zeke was caught in no man's land because he was correctly headed outside with the ball because that's what the play called. That play failed because Jarwin failed to do his job right!

Actually, the TB defended had his eyes on Zeke the whole time. He went wide, that’s why Jarwin couldn’t do anything about it. This idea that TB wasn’t going to play the QB option, when Dallas does it all time is pretty much absurd. Even the safety bolts wide as soon as he sees Dak running the option.

If Zeke takes this wide he’s in for 6 .Now the extra point would have been tricky .

I doubt it. The TB defender, who clearly looks faster than Zeke, was already taking it wide. That’s why Zeke tried to go back inside.

How about we just adjust the Tampa Bay defender read a play we run a lot, took it wide essentially beating Zeke to the spot.

Precisely.

Well they both wet the bed on that one. Jarwin will say he was waiting for Zeke to cut inside, and Zeke will say he had to take it outside. But Zeke should have just known to take the shortest distance between two points which is a straight line and ducked his head and plowed into the end zone. With his momentum you would think he would make it. He doesn't have the wiggle to make tacklers miss.

The pitch to Zeke. That is a sure TD if JARWIN holds his block. Moore should never use him in that situation again. Zeke gets in there and we have a completely different game. I think that would have been the difference. Jarwin either needs to get better at blocking, or put Dalton on the field in situations like that.
I was talking about that in another thread. The effort given by Jarwin on that play was PATHETIC.

Moore should have never used him in that situation to begin w/. Jarwin can't block, and that's a well known fact.

Yup, corner had jumped outside at same time or before dak pitched it
Dak take a step toward goal line before pitch to set up better?

Ask Emmitt what it was like once the O line fell apart. NO RB IS ANY GOOD WITHOUT BLOCKING. ON that play the TE blew it. Left Zeke with no good option.

I don't think Zeke really had a clear lane to drive in after the missed block. That being said if Henry is our RB he rolls over anybody who tries to cut him at the knees and gets in easy...

It was a terrible block. But a $50 million running back should be able to get through or around one guy.

Bad play for both guys. Jarwin whiffs, and Zeke is completely indecisive and simply made himself a target instead of picking a path and trying to truck the guy.

Lacking a clear lane, the right call for Zeke was to get all the dirty yards he could and try to pound his way in. Sooner rather than later because pursuit was coming and had a clear path.
