Elliott is seeing the field better

Zeke has been fantastic. I wouldn't say he is seeing the field better, as vision has always been one of his greatest strengths. To me, he has some burst back and is exploding through the line more than the last couple of seasons. This is also helping get him past some of those arm tackles before they become shoulder tackles. The OL has also been fantastic which is of course helping both he and Pollard

Defiantly not washed up. He just can't do anything he wants now.

Agreed, but it's comical to me when people talk about he's lost his burst, etc. He is in his 6th year, many running backs, and players overall, begin to lose some of their physical sharpness by this time. But that doesn't mean he's still not one of the best backs in the league, and you don't get rid of those types of players...

He doesn't get another contract and he knows it. This is his time and he can be thankful Pollard is there to help. Its a big help and Dallas fandom should count their blessings.:clap: Perfect storm!

You can teach patience, ..but you don't and cannot teach vision, instincts. and most definitely ..Speed.

- I do not think Zeke has ever lost vision and instincts. A true legit RB does not lose those elements.
That's a natural element with a true legit RB. He has always saw the field and cut lanes.

- The only thing i'd be concerned about Zeke is if he is becoming a different type RB, because he just no longer has that speed element tool and
has no choice but to be forced to resort to a different style of running. And zeke is still supposed to be in his prime age.

- Frankly i'm not convinced he now has recovered the 2016 burst. In that era Zeke would not have come close to being caught from
behind at the 5 yard line on that 47 yard run.
But this zeke version seems more geared to resorting to more of a power game ..than the home run hitting speed back he was coming into the NFL in 2016.

- No question, the better OL unit now .. even with Collins out, and the struggles within the interior,... is definitely comes in hand.

- Both backs (Pollard) are hitting high levels in their own style and mode, ..and that's making it even tougher on opposing Defenses.

Ok I have to admit Elliott has me eating crow. I wanted to trade him away just a few weeks ago. Now he seems to be a very important cog in our defense.

I did mention that he seems to have lost his break away speed. I don't think that's the case. I think he has become a more patient blocker and waits for his blocks to happen. Then he picks his hole.

In 2016 he just runs straight in and looking for contact. He no longer is that Zeke.

He maybe a bit lighter than he ever was. But he seems more quicker than he ever was.
He isn’t. The oline is just dominating like 2016.

when will you people learn?

How about he’s in better shape, he’s rededicated, and he’s doing better? How about he’s quicker and fumbling less? How about he’s seeing the field better BECAUSE the OL’s healthy for once?

First of all every run is different, unless we can replay the down in 2016 we don't know if 2016 Zeke would have scored a td, or not.

Second, The DB that caught Zeke ran a 4.46 at the combine. Zeke ran the same time. So he's just as fast as Zeke, nothing Zeke can do about that.

And the DB had the angle on Zeke. Zeke's speed, or any loss of same, was not the reason he got caught...

Most great running backs thrive on getting the ball 20 or more times a game, they need carries to get into a rhythm, and Zeke wears defenders down with hits, can't do that with 8-10 carries.

I'm sure there will be a game this year, maybe two or more, where teams load up to stop Zeke, and he won't have 143 yds and 7+ yard average, that won't mean Zeke is losing speed, etc. it's just football...

Yah, definitely. As far as seeing the field I still see him miss holes and go the wrong way off blocks.

Not true at all. Great backs DONT need 20 carries to do their handy work. GREAT backs come in ready to roll and hit big plays and make big plays. What good is a RB that can only run well with huge holes and when the defense is tired?

I think he is seeing the field better because he is now seeing holes being created by this Oline.....run blocking is excellent. Not having a Dlineman in your face once you get the ball makes a big difference...LOL.....And using McGovern at FB at the goal line has also helped. Keeping him fresh with Pollard getting some carries will help him in the latter part of the season and into the post season.

This right here. Zeke is back to his old self because the O-Line is once again playing at a high level. I will say that he seems to have knocked off any rust he had from sitting out preseason.

True, but Zeke was getting yards BEFORE their defense was tired, and most backs need holes to have consistent success.

IMHO, I much prefer Emmitt, or even guys like DeMarco Murray. Zeke looks dumb, up until this year he seemed to lack maturity, I don’t care for the nose ring or Sideshow Bob hairstyle, the embarrassing “Feed Me” crap, or the seemingly arrogant entitlement, but he seems improved from 2020. Add the healthy OL, Moore’s creative playcalling, and turnover-creating defense, and the difference is night and day! JMO.
