Only because we have a bye week. OK say the fourth round draft pick. He gets to sit behind Tony Romo, and Kellen Moore for a couple of season. The way it was supposed to be intended I believe.
Question, Does the franchise let Tony play. When he was ready , or do they Let Kellen Moore continue playing , with the exact same win loss record , Question, would Prescott have such a great first season. It’s hard to speculate. But I believe they let Kellen Moore, continue. And no I don’t think Prescott would’ve had such a great first season. Again, this is not whether you approve or disapprove of Prescott. This is how do you think Things possibly could’ve turned out differently.

Dak probably would never have gotten a chance without the injuries to Romo and Moore.

It was the perfect storm for him, because if I remember correctly he wasn't blowing anyone away in practices and stuff. He was playing well in the preseason games, but that was against other teams 3rd stringers pretty much.

So, I believe that without those injuries Dak would have never been the QB for the Dallas Cowboys. Sometimes things like that happen. It makes you wonder what guys could have been great, but never got the chance.

With all due respect that is going back to 2016 and the what if scenario is a rabbit hole which leads nowhere.

Kellen Moore is showing right now he’s a very good OC, but imo, he was nowhere close to being good enough to be starting NFL QB.
I think Romo would have been straight back in when fit… maybe Moore would have been replaced by Dak prior to Romo returning anyway.

Things happen for a reason so looking back means nothing & now Dak is our QB time to worry about the nwxt game after the bye . I will say this team needs a better backup QB one play can change the season .

The Rams and Dolphins games he started, don’t think those teams started with 3rd stringers at the beginning of those games

2016 Preseason (3 games)

39 of 50 78% Comp % 454 Yards 5 TD's 0 INT's 7 rushes 53 Yards 2 TD's

He was showing things then which, combined with Romo's injury and Moore's lack of playing time that preseason due to a fractured leg in training camp, the decision was easy for Dallas.

The injuries made the decisions for them in my opinion.

I don't think they saw anything special in Dak. It was just dumb luck.

Two simple questions. Does Kellen Moore continue playing. Does Prescott have a great season like his first one.

I’m still not sure why no team gave Tony a shot in 2017 (and I say that has a huge Dak supporter from 2016 week1).
He literally got hurt in 3 of the last 4games he started in. Eagles 2015, Thanksgiving 2015, and the preseason game vs Seahawks. No one was going to pay a QB who would barely last a game

Huge Romo fan, and was disappointed they chose to keep him on the bench when healthy. He was better than Dak (undisputedly at that point) and a rookie QB had never taken a team to the super bowl. Even Big Ben struggled during the playoffs of his magical 14-2 regular season.

But the whole point is that Romo's body was continually breaking, and his collarbone just was never going to be strong enough for the team to rely on him. So sure, Dak probably doesn't send a healthy Romo to the bench, but then was a consistently healthy Romo ever really an option? It wasn't a fluke injury, but one that was recurring.

I didn’t want this to be about who is the better quarterback.

I believe they let Kellen Moore continue playing. When you’re on a streak of like that. You don’t disturb it in my opinion. Secondly I don’t think Prescott has such a great first season. The team was starting to be in disarray. injuries, hold outs, Suspensions.

And it’s dumb luck you need sometimes… If Bledsoe didn’t get injured and carried on playing well for another few years, does Brady even have a career of any note let alone being the GOAT.
Same when Dallas drafted Staubach, if he wasn’t in the Navy for the next few years, he’d have been drafted near the top of round 1 and Dallas would never have had him.
Strange things happen in sport sometimes that open doors, and hopefully when Dak wins a Super Bowl, this’ll be the story being talked about.

Apparently, you were correct. Do you know just to let you know. Sometimes you’re wrong about people. And I think I didn’t give you the benefit of the doubt. I’m glad you’re on the forum

Some of the best things happen when this front office doesn't reach in desperation. Just remember how close we were to trading up for Paxton. Thank you Denver.

If Kellen doesn’t get hurt, Dak would not have started. Maybe he sees the field. Maybe he doesn’t. There was a good chance Dak would have become our starter anyway.

What is a more interesting sub-issue is whether we could have re-signed Dak sooner and on a cheaper deal without him having that 13-3 season in his pocket. Dak struggled some in his second and third seasons.
