  • Game went how the Patriots hoped. They wanted to go late in the game with a chance to win as a lesser team, just like the Tampa Bay game. They had Cowboys at 3rd and 25, if they make a play, they win.
  • But for Dallas, good teams find a way to win. Tough place to play. Tendency to look back at games and say what did we not do well? Media tends to over exaggerate it too. But if I'm in the locker room, I feel good going into the bye week.
  • I injured my calf against Washington. I could not have gone back in that game. I don't think he would have come back either based on what I saw. Remember Favre had fairly significant injuries in his streak, and got lucky with a lot of them happening before his bye week. I was doubtful the next week when I had it. Unless you can't throw the ball (shoulder injury, etc), you can manage the injuries as a QB better than other positions. If he can't run, he won't run. He'll play and we'll never know the extent of the injury. Will only impact his ability to scramble, but he doesn't have to with that talent.
  • One way to stay in the game against a powerful offense is run the ball. Limit the # of snaps they have. It's the reason coaches come in like Chip Kelly with this quick offense... the more snaps, the more opportunities you have. But if you're always punting when they're scoring, you have to get out of the running game.
  • When we played San Fran we knew they were explosive. Our offense always asked how our defense would hold up and we planned from there. There's a lot of pressure on these teams to score every chance they get the ball when they play the Cowboys. Same as when Kansas City is playing like they can.
  • I like Dallas in the NFC. If you're not in Dallas, you're just looking at the NFC records. What is different than other years is this team loves to play together. There is an energy you can feel. Teams with that type of enthusiasm, usually good things happen. I think Dak, Dan Quinn and Mike McCarthy are a big reason for that. You can't overlook Green Bay and Tampa. Tampa is solid across the board, especially when they get their secondary back.
  • There is only one team with a bye this year in the Playoffs. Everyone is shooting for it now. Your best ball has to be in January.
  • (Asked about Michael Irvin's comments to buy SuperBowl tickets now) He is the biggest cheerleader, he might be Rowdy for all I know. People ask me why I can't call games like Michael, I tell them I need a job. He is what he is. He's an awesome friend to this day, he was a great teammate and our emotional leader in the 90's. People can understand that now watching him on TV. He always practiced like he was preparing for the Super Bowl. Our best players were always our best practice players and it's why we were that team. Very few days Irvin wore clothes to the players meetings, he liked to show off his physique, I hope he's wearing clothes now to his NFL studio meetings.
  • I talked to Dan Quinn last night about bye weeks. The league has changed a lot. Life as a player is different. They're not together as much, they make a lot more money. I think the guys are excited about the time off. They can go to Cabo and do things like that now.
  • I would never have been in favor of a 17 game schedule. Unless you play in the NFL you just have no appreciation for the punishment your body takes. Some positions take a lot more punishment. Money talks though, the players are making more. I don't think we've seen the end of it. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to get to an 18 game schedule and cut a preseason game. There has always been injuries but a lot of guys don't practice as hard in training camp. It feels like there has been more soft tissue injuries than what we saw before. For Dallas or any team, you're only 1-2 injuries away from falling back into the middle of the pack.

It's a glimpse into how Troy (who looks like the ultimate all-american square) and Michael Irvin remain friends.

Yeah maybe the media wants them to win a few more but they have BLOWN OUT the rams, titans and browns. they're legit and that offense is a problem for teams.

With the extra game, maybe the NFL should consider adding an additional bye week for rest. If I remember correctly, there used to be two bye weeks a season back in the olden days.

I agree. I've watched all of them and Arizona scares me most. I think Aikman like many though gives credence to the QBs who have been there before. Murray, has good as he is, hasn't proven anything yet in the Playoffs. Just like Dak. And Romo before him.

Not at all related to Troy on the Ticket, but has a Super Bowl winner had an easier schedule than this in recent memory?

2021-2022-Printable-Tampa-Bay-Buccaneers-Schedule-CT-PNG.png

The only 3 real games IMO are Cowboys, Rams, and Bills. Their division schedule is a given, and it's not exactly a tough group. Indy is headed for the toilet, the NFC East is trash outside of Dallas, and the AFC East mirrors the NFC East with perhaps New England being a bit better. The Buffalo and Dallas games are/were at home too. Going to be tough for them to be ousted from the top seed.

When you're a team as good as Tampa Bay, any schedule may tend to look easy.

Nevertheless, they still have to beat enough of them to qualify for the goodies!

I'm, nevertheless, still excited and pleased to see the Cowboys being successful.
