I know the word is there is little concern about Dak's calf strain according to the owners and Dak himself, but calf strains do take time to heal and can easily light up again if the player returns to early from recovering.

Since Dak's mobility is an important part of his game I feel like there is risk in bringing Dak back against the Vikings and usually it takes even a week or 2 after that for a player to be in the clear from reinjuring the calf.

Which is why I feel like we need to upgrade the QB2 position. It seems best to play it safe and keep Dak out at least 1 week after the bye, if not 2. And even if Dak is good to go against Minnesota, I think it's still a good idea to trade for a legit back up. Dak plays a physical game and there are still 11 games left in the regular season. Plus Dallas are serious contenders for the #1 seed and a 1st round bye. Having Cooper Rush potentially start any game puts this team at a disadvantage and could lead to losses in games he might start.

With the trade deadline coming up next week, Andy Dalton is a good trade candidate and the Bears should be looking to sell. They've clearly committed to Fields and have no 1st round pick next season or 4th rounder after trading with the Giants to take their QB.

I say, why not send a 4th rounder to Chicago to get Dalton and insurance at back up QB. Dalton is familiar with the playbook and played decent in Dallas last year considering the oline he had protecting him.

This team should be all in for a Superbowl run.

Bring Andy Dalton back to Dallas.

Im for it. Andy must want to be home he lost his job with da Bears.
If he would stay a couple of years as a back up I'm good.

You make a good case why Dak will need more time to heal but I wouldn't bring in anyone. We are just talking about a couple of games so I give Rush the gig. I trust him with this offence to do just fine.

Someone trolled a post yesterday with this. It's not a bad idea.

He can be had for a leftover bag of popcorn at AT&T Stadium. He knows the offense. I assuming he's an upgrade over Cooper Rush who I just haven't seen play much at all.

This is one of those moves I would entrust with the people who were behind the scenes last year. I don't know what the chemistry was with Dalton and if we'd have a huge setback bringing him back.

And I don't know what the faith is in Cooper Rush. Most of me wants to say no, we're a team moving forward, but I would only consider it because QB is so vital.

Will Grier is better than Cooper Rush.

Let Will Grier take over if Dak has to miss a game or two.

Trading away a costly mid-round pick for Andy Dalton to be backup once again is just crazy. Cowboys are going to need all of their draft picks next year since there currently are 21 players becoming free agents at season's end this year.

H-m-m, we might trade Cooper Rush and a stale bag of chips for Andy Dalton but not sure we should include the stale chips!

Another thing to consider is I associate Dalton and those Marvin Lewis Bengals with the same breath I do Garrett and Romo. Too long, no playoff wins, couldn't get it done. If this is a new team we're going all in, and to hell with the past.

Dalton's playoff record: 4 starts, 1 TD, 6 INT, 55% COMP, 873 YARDS, 4 FUMBLES

With that record, if we did have worse case scenario, I'd rather give it to the new unproven guy. Or *ducks* Cam Newton, because at least he's proven he can get to the Big One!

Don't just say, "reach higher". Tell us who you have in mind. Otherwise, you are just presenting a scared weak argument.

Coming from the scared weak poster?

Don't make me laugh.

Wait, I just read on Twitter that JAG could lead this team to a SB. People are STILL spouting that garbage. I think the quote was 'Any QB capable of being a starter in the NFL could do what Dak's doing '

Who are these people????

Don't see the Raiders trading him.

They're 4-2 and he's been with them for a couple of seasons now.

He's been rumored in trade talks since last season.

It all depends on offer.

And Cam Newton would cost ZERO picks.

But I'm rolling with Dak.

And if a backup is absolutely necessary, let's see what Grier can do first.

Trading for Dalton now is weak.

We already know how deficient he is.
