I know the word is there is little concern about Dak's calf strain according to the owners and Dak himself, but calf strains do take time to heal and can easily light up again if the player returns to early from recovering.

Since Dak's mobility is an important part of his game I feel like there is risk in bringing Dak back against the Vikings and usually it takes even a week or 2 after that for a player to be in the clear from reinjuring the calf.

Which is why I feel like we need to upgrade the QB2 position. It seems best to play it safe and keep Dak out at least 1 week after the bye, if not 2. And even if Dak is good to go against Minnesota, I think it's still a good idea to trade for a legit back up. Dak plays a physical game and there are still 11 games left in the regular season. Plus Dallas are serious contenders for the #1 seed and a 1st round bye. Having Cooper Rush potentially start any game puts this team at a disadvantage and could lead to losses in games he might start.

With the trade deadline coming up next week, Andy Dalton is a good trade candidate and the Bears should be looking to sell. They've clearly committed to Fields and have no 1st round pick next season or 4th rounder after trading with the Giants to take their QB.

I say, why not send a 4th rounder to Chicago to get Dalton and insurance at back up QB. Dalton is familiar with the playbook and played decent in Dallas last year considering the oline he had protecting him.

This team should be all in for a Superbowl run.

Bring Andy Dalton back to Dallas.
With the way the cowboys have been drafting I wouldn’t be trading any draft capital. Regardless of round.

He's been rumored in trade talks since last season.

It all depends on offer.

And Cam Newton would cost ZERO picks.

But I'm rolling with Dak.

And if a backup is absolutely necessary, let's see what Grier can do first.

Trading for Dalton now is weak.

We already know how deficient he is.
Why stop there. Let's bring 78 year old former Jets Super Bowl winning quarterback Joe Namath in as backup. I would be so happy because then he would spare me from seeing him do all those incessant creepy Medicare Plus commercials. While we are at let's make it a package deal and include Jimmy "Dynomite" Walker.

It's scandalous we don't have a suitable backup to drive this high-powered offense if Dak misses time via injury.
It's like Speed Racer getting injured, and Team Racer turning over control of the powerful Mach-5 to Chim Chim.

I wouldn't waste space with Andy Dalton, let alone give up a 4th rounder. That's like me asking you if you'd like a hotdog for 50 bucks. If anything, I'd offer that to the Eagles for their backup Minshew. Clearly they have no intention of starting anyone over Hurts. They might take it as they are not interested in winning this year.

If we are trading with the Bears for a backup QB then i would rather have Foles over Dalton. I saw enough of Dalton last year.

Bring Andy Dalton back to Dallas.

he is better than rush. And he would be better with a line that can block now.

and catch17 would get sticky pants.

no this has merit

I probably wouldn’t trade for him but it’s worth noting 4-5 as a starter. That’s about what you want as a back up

The issue is most people saw him one of two ways. One camp wanted to see him supplant Dak and when it was obvious he was at best an okay back up, they blamed him. The other camp never wanted him hear due to how Dak’s contract negotiations dragged on.

He is worse than Andy, he cant beat out Andy or the Rookie.

The Bears don't want him to beat out the rookie and they were just using Dalton as a stop gap. Once Dalton got injured it gave the Bears the excuse to put in the rookie. He is the future so why not. They would just be spinning their wheels with Foles or Dalton as the starter.. The Bears started Foles 8 games in 2020 and decided he was not going to be their starter going forward. I believe the only reason Foles is on their roster is because they still they can get something for him in a trade. Why play him and risk injury when you are trying to shop him to a team desperate for a QB? You can just finish the season with Fields as the starter and Dalton as a cheap veteran backup. I think the Bears would rather keep Dalton and trade Foles. Either way, both Foles and Dalton are an upgrade over what we have at back up currently. I just feel that Foles fits our offense better and he has a history of showing up and playing big coming off the bench.

If Dak is that bad I’m bringing in Cam and letting Moore trick this thing up to a power running RPO football team. He would be cheap and would score a lot of TD’s running the football. Just enough to keep it afloat for a week or so.
