What if Moore chooses to stay Dallas OC and turns down HC offers?

LOL, you may wanna do a little research on this ........he's on his way out. Just a matter of time ......notice he's no longer the face of the team. They hired a new GM before last season. From my understanding, he's now mostly running and is the media go-to guy.

But I do agree the team ( regardless of Elway ) could significant interest in Kellen for other reasons you mention

Elway is still an icon in Denver, is currently the President of Football Operations (he voluntarily stepped aside as GM and hired a new one), and is one of several interested in purchasing the Broncos.

If Dallas makes the playoffs this season and has success in the playoffs, be prepared for BOTH Moore and Quinn to get possible offers to become a Head Coach.
Both Quinn and Moore have contracts that run thru the 2023 season with Moore reportedly making $2M/year as the OC (Quinn annual salary not known).
With McCarthy making an average of $6M/year, does Jerry see this as another Garrett situation wherein Moore is promoted to Head Coach to keep him from leaving while making Quinn the Asst. Head Coach/DC to keep him from leaving.....after giving them both more money of course????

Quinn stated he does not want to be a head coach again. He said that within the last month.

Moore will stay unless he is offered the Bucs with Brady. And maybe not even then. Jerry will make him an offer he can't refuse.

But all this hand wringing about Moore assumes he can transition from an OC to a head coach. Not all can. And at what cost to the offense? As it stands now Dak and Moore are on the same page like no other OC/QB since Norv and Aikman. But how much time is invested in being on that same page from the standpoint of Moore?

With the extra responsibilities of the head coach, how can Moore juggle those duties and still be this mad scientist in the lab creating a monster offense which has so many options it confounds defenses?

I think there is a great deal of assumptions being made about Moore, and to a lesser degree Quinn. And McCarthy, as well.

I go back to what I have been saying since this season took off. Enjoy this ride and let next season take care of itself.

Both Moore and Quinn could be gone

Moore because the offense is unstoppable and Quinn simply because the defense has improved from what it was last year and that 2020 defense was awful
That's good for them. Life is about seizing opportunity and make the most of those opportunities.

Or maybe Jerry can make them Co-Head Coaches after leaving McCarthy behind on a road trip.

Just as you have vocalized the position that Moore perhaps doesn't want to or can't make it as a HC, there is also the position he can.

However, as you said time will tell what happens.

Yep

Very likely we lose both Quinn and Moore. That comes with success. It’s how we lost our top coordinators in Landry and Jimmy era. Natural occurrence in NFL.

maybe it is possible i wold not be shocked

kellen is a smart person maybe he does not think he is ready. maybe he took interview last year for the experience.

maybe jerry will promise him the job and pay him a lot and just wait.

i am not so worried.

Who is ranking Moore as the top candidate over Bienemy or anyone else? Every year there are multiple HC positions that become available across the NFL and NCAA. Unless you are referring to things you have read or head outside of this thread?
Wouldn't say that but I did indeed dismiss that either of our coordinators would leave for a college HC position.

Didn't know that. That's excellent news.

We really gave him a ton of say as far as personnel and to lose him anytime soon would have been a problem.

Jerry will take care of him if he keeps this defense headed in the right direction.

Pit- no issues.

Perhaps there are no issues, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made a change if the Steelers don't make the playoffs. That would be no playoff appearances in 3 of the last 4 seasons. They haven't won a playoff game since the 2016 season. There is still plenty of season left, but as of now Pittsburgh is at the bottom of their division.

With 2 young kids and having grown up (both him and his wife) in the NW region of the US (WA/ID region), keep an eye on the Denver Broncos. Vic Fangio is on the hot seat as Denver has not been to the playoffs since 2015 (Super Bowl run with Manning) and with John Elway running things in Denver, do not be surprised if he sets his sights on Moore.

With Denver having some roster turnover upcoming, Moore being hired to be HC could have him set his eyes on bringing in familiar faces from Dallas that are upcoming free agents (ex. QB Rush, WR Gallup, WR Wilson, TE Schultz, DE Gregory, LB LVE, LB Neal, etc.) seeing as how Denver could have up to $67M in salary cap space.
Agree with your logic but it may not be a slam dunk if the QB isn't in place and there's no real means to acquire one.

He may not be so quick to step into a situation where there isn't a clear path to success.

I dont know if money will be a factor because Jerry will open the wallet if necessary. I'm sure that's how we have actually kept McClay around. No salary cap for that stuff, and cash isn't a problem for Jerry.

Overall point is I think we have this band together for at least this season and next.

One exhibit to your argument is the OC of the Patriots. He was a hot commodity for a HC position and he turned them down to stay with the Patriots. These things do happen but they are rare. 9 out of 10 people would take a promotion and more money. There are only a few rare people who go for happiness over money as they realized that the two are not connected in the long run.
Patriots OC Josh McDaniels accepted two HC jobs in his past.
Was over the Denver Broncos for 2009 and most of 2010. With 4 games left in the season and the record being 3-9, McDaniels was fired.
McDaniels was announced as the next Indianapolis Colts HC on February 6, 2018. However - later on that same day, he changed his mind and withdrew from the position.

It’s not like money will be an issue either for Moore. He made player money for awhile.

He’s set at 33 years old or whatever he is for life with money.

If I’m him I’d need a job that knocks me off my feet to leave Dallas and take on more responsibility.

I think the move is to stay in Dallas and just take Jerry’s money because Jerry is going to do whatever he can to keep him.

We just spent over a decade watching Dallas trot out the most bland/basic/predictable offense in the NFL.. No way they just let Moore go. He is Dak insurance as well.. He makes Dak a better player.

McDaniels was not successful as HC in Denver, went back to the Pats, accepted the Colts job, only to reneg on it and go back to the Pats. I think he's waiting for Belicheck to retire.

I think he’s already promised the head coaching position here that’s why I think he will turn down other offers.

Also, him and Dak have become really good friends, I recall Dak saying that in one of his pressers.
