Are we so much better than 2014, 2016, 2007?

You see the picture near my name? I personally took that picture. Yea, I've been following this team for a few years.

Is that Emmitt in the endzone against San Francisco in the 92 NFC title game?

But it's impossible to debate. We just diagree.
That's never worth getting into

I would not fight you too hard if you wanted to fight for 2014 Romo because that was a virtuoso year for him.. but I will simply say this.. Dak however is more mobile and athletic than Romo was, especially 34 year old Romo vs 28 year old Dak and Romo never made it this far into the season completing over 73% of his passes while racking up over 300 yards/game with a 4:1 TD:INT ratio. It's certainly close but I'm giving Dak the nod based on the criteria I've stated.. But I would go to war with either guy that's for sure.

Just seems that the players want to win. Actually have a desire to compete. Which I haven't seen from that many players in a very very long time.

Im ecstatic with what I see, so lets start with that.

But Ive been here before, in 2014, 2016 and 2007. Im reading from so many posters that this is the best team we have had in so many years.... really?
In the years I mentioned plus this year, all 4 seasons we started out 6-1. In 3 of those seasons, including this year, we had an OT win.

Oh, but you dont know what you are talking about, this year our defense is so much better. Really?

2021 ppg after 7 games? 22.8ppg allowed
2007 22.5
2014 21
2016 18.5

Oh, but this year our offense is so much better.... really?
2021 32 ppg
2007 32.4 ppg
2014 28ppg
2016 26.8 ppg

I would argue that all of these teams are similar... and ALL of them are and were legit SB contenders.
So as happy as I am right now, dont kid yourself into thinking that this team is head and shoulders ahead of those teams I listed above... they arent. We could win a SB this year for sure, and we could also get bounced in the first playoff game against 3 or 4 different teams in the NFC.
We didn’t have a defense like this

Mentally, I definitely think they are tougher than any team I’ve seen since Jimmy’s. They have won a lot of games they would have lost.

2016’s team lost close games to the Giants that I think this team would win, and they lost embarrassingly to the Eagles Week 17. That was foreboding to how the playoffs went for them. Were there stars on defense that year? We legit have at least 3 now.

We’ll see how this team does in the winter. I think the remnants of that 2016 team like Dak, Zeke, etc. will warn the younger guys to not let that happen again.

What made that team worse was coaching. Parcells left a good team there that probably could've did some damage. Then Jerry starts with his coaching hires, then the Roy Williams trade, then the special teams draft. Truly terrible decision making dug their own hole.

I'm hoping Dak dials back the turnovers as the year goes on.
And I think he will!

He has 7 turnovers in 6 games so far. That's a 20 turnover pace in a 17 game season.
His 16 TD to 7 turnovers is a ratio closer to 2:1.

Anyway, all this stuff is relative to the year they are playing in.
Ex...12 QBs have 100+ ratings this year (in a time when blowing hot air on a QB or WR draws a flag). In 2014, that number was only 4.
And it was easier in 2014 than it was in 2007....and easier in 2007 than in 1997.....etc.

Either way......Dak's playing great and I'm thrilled

We can win it all with him at the helm....imo

This is by far the best Cowboys team since the 90's Cowboys. No question about it.

We can definitely win the SB with this squad. Health will determine how that unfolds.

I don't know. I went to the regular season game against the Pats and Moss, Welker and Stallworth were always wide open. I was freaking out watching it live.

I dont care what those numbers say, this defense is a lot better than what we fielded in those past teams.

The offense is multi dimensional and nearly impossible to stop. The depth is also much better. As far as the numbers go look for the defense to hit stride and improve over the course of the season. Dlaw will have an impact. Let's talk about turnovers also.

You also need to talk about the intangibles. This team here is resilient, way beyond what those other teams were capable of. Our past teams had a couple things go against them and they were pretty much done for. This team is different, it's better.

Edit: Romo vs Dak in the clutch and I'm taking Dak every single time. Didn't notice 2007 at first. That team was loaded.

Yeah I was actually kinda glad we didn't get to that Super Bowl because I thought Wade's defense was too passive to go up against Brady.. Especially the soft cover techniques we deployed on the back end. Brady hung 6? TD passes on them during the regular season. The Giants had his kryptonite which was a fierce pass rush across the board that could get in his face and make him move his feet. They were maybe the ONLY team that could beat that bunch because could pressure with just the front four. I will never hate the Giants as much as I do the Ratscums and She-gals because we own them a lifelong debt of gratitude for sparing us hearing about the greatness of the undefeated Patriots for the rest of our damn lives.

That 2007 team was supposed to be on the rise. Instead we got a 1 year window and then Jerry closed it immediately.

I have pictures like that I took in 1981 at the Sugar Ray Leonard/Thomas Hearns tile fight in Vegas. I have one of O.J. Simpson and Nicole Brown Simpson that’s very fuzzy but you can tell it’s them. I was moving the camera when I took the picture. I posted it here before when I had photobucket. Once I get another hosting site I’ll post it again.

It’s a long season. You never really know what you’ve got until after Thanksgiving anyway. Just enjoy it while it lasts. These competitive seasons only come around every six or seven years. Gotta appreciate them when they do.
