I remember being very impressed with what McKeon showed us before getting hurt last year....I'd really like to see much more of him. Before dismissing him as a future starter, remember that Jay Novacek was once a 3rd stringer behind Junior Miller and Rob Awalt.

Shultz did not have a stellar game today
Not sure why he slowed on the endzone play
Could have had a td catch

TEs may be asked to do more dirty work blocking with the questions along the o line. I think they've played well considering. Plus when you have the relievers and rbs in the backfield catching passes they can afford to have them help with pass protection.

Schultz has been great overall, but a lot of his success as a receiver has been due to play design. Happy to have him on the team, but TE is still an area we need to look at upgrades for in the offseason.

Hard to tell with Schultz if its a product of the system or if he is turning into a good/great TE...but either way the limited catches should help keep his number lower if we wish to resign him next year.

It's the result of game planning from Defensive Coordinator's and not the decline of our TE's.

The TE's didn't get much action today because the receivers were winning on the outside. There was no need to look for the tight ends.

We have what can be considered 3 #1 options as receivers so no real need to go to the TEs. Yes, I do believe Gallup could be a #1 on some teams.

Novacek was never a backup behind Awalt.

Yes he most certainly was....you can apologize to me later.

From Wikipedia.....

In 1988, the Cardinals franchise moved to Phoenix and even though Awalt remained the starter at tight end, Novacek still ranked third on the team with 569 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. The next year with Gary Hogeboom instead of Neil Lomax as the team's starting quarterback, his production fell to 23 receptions for 225 yards and one touchdown.
