Oh man I did forget about Lenny Moore.. shame on me.. Still you can't argue "this is not about one game" and then pull up a single game record against a team trying to make sure it secured the the #1 overall pick as evidence of greatness. He literally got almost 1/4 of his season total in that one game against that wasn't even trying. What he's doing this year is more legit than that.. It will be fun to watch him over these next several years.. Do you think he can challenge Henry for rushing titles going forward? Henry gets SO many carries it's going to be hard for anybody to surpass him if he doesn't get hurt. On the flip side he's 5 years older so his age induced slide could coincide with Taylor hitting his prime.

I don't really see another back coming out of college who can break into that upper echelon.. but there's always somebody coming!! Maybe the Robinson kid at Texas .. but you know how this works.. If you don't go to a team that wants to run the ball and who can black, it doesn't matter how much talent you have.. you're not going to excel. The Colts were rushing for 2000 yards a season with Marlon Mack as their primary back. That tells me that they not only want to run it but they can block for it. Taylor is setup to have a nice run of 3-4 years among the league leaders..

I wasn't making a big deal out of that record, but.....you asked.

Average per carry is the stat that says it all, so a guy gains 2000 yards if he only averaged 3.8. Taylor averaged 5 yards a carry as a rookie, who does that (Lenny Moore 7.5.ha!) He has a 5.8 average this season. That says it all right there. He's a great RB, he can bang and out run any DB, perfect blend.

I know I know ....college??? But....this guy was absolutely incredible, his numbers were totally out there. Twice winning the Doak Walker as the best RB in the nation. over 1000 yards as an NFL rookie, leading the NFL now good chance of winning the rushing title.

To read.....but that was vs the Jags.....hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gained over 6000 yards in three Wisconsib seasons, 6.7 average, 55 td's.....wow!

His hair sticks up and he wears a headband. Bad example for the youth.

Come on now.. Isn't he like the third or fourth Wisconsin runner to go over 6000 or at least approach it? And that number isn't quite what it used to be now that they play 14-15 games a year instead of 10 or 11. Taylor played more games there in three seasons than Ron Dayne did in four.
As for "able to outrun any DB" I don't know if I'd go that far. A lot of them lil guys can really run.. Now a lot of them will make business decisions about REALLY trying to tackle some of these big backs.. but pretty much every NFL team has a couple of 4.3 guys playing in the secondary. Hell the Cowboys have three in Anthony Brown, CJ Goodwin and Kelvin Joseph. But Taylor's speed is certainly elite level and at his size he's a problem for DBs to be sure. Looking forward to watching him work!

Let's see....

Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor set another record in his storied collegiate career by becoming the first player in FBS history to amass 12 games of 200 or more rushing yards.

Taylor's 6,174 rushing yards at Wisconsin is the most ever for a running back in his first three season. That obliterated the previous record of 5,596 yards set by Walker while at Georgia in the early 1980s

  • In 2019, Taylor led the country in touchdowns scored (26).
  • In 2019, Taylor finished second in the country in total yards from scrimmage (2,255).
  • Taylor is the only FBS player to rush for at least 1,900 yards in 3 consecutive seasons.
  • Taylor joined Ron Dayne (1996, ’99) and Iowa State’s Troy Davis (1995, ’96) as the only players to record multiple 2,000–yard seasons.
  • Taylor’s combined 4,197 yards in 2018 and 2019 are the highest 2–year total in FBS history, breaking the former record of 4,196 held by UW’s Melvin Gordon.
  • Taylor’s career average of 150.6 rushing yards per game is tied for 5th–best in FBS history.
As you can see the dude was special in the NCAA, as he is right now in the NFL.

Taylor is a two time state 100m champ has ran a 10.4, I follow track on a geekish level, there is only one NFL cornerback with that kind of speed, Javelin Guidry with the Jets.

I am talking going the distance not the 40. No RB has had more 40 plus runs than Taylor this season.

All games, including bowl games[edit]
[1]

Rank Player Team (seasons) Total rushing yards
1 Ron Dayne Wisconsin (1996–1999) 7,125
2 Ricky Williams Texas (1995–1998) 6,592
3 Tony Dorsett Pittsburgh (1973–1976) 6,526
4 Donnel Pumphrey San Diego State (2013–2016) 6,405
5 Charles White USC (1976–1979) 6,245
6 Jonathan Taylor Wisconsin (2017–2019) 6,174

Not really an argument here. The skills and accomplishments scream special. I just want to see it for a longer stretch in the NFL. If he stays on his current pace and ends up with 1700+ yards that oughta bout do it. But like I said, he's got a couple of really stout run defenses coming in Buffalo and Tampa.. Carve them up and I will be sold. Still I don't think using "only one on that list with just three seasons" is really righteous since he played more games in three years than most of the guys played in four years before the conference championship games and the playoff came into being. But averaging a buck fifty a game.. That aint hay.. That's good stuff..

So after all that ya need two more games before......hahaha!!!!!

Derrick Henry had two games this season where he averaged less than 3 yards a carry, ya don't do this by games ya do it by seasons.

Is he as good as Ron Dane ?

Ron Dayne scrimmage yards

2242
1574
1570
2043

He averaged 5.9 everytime he touchd a football

JT

2072
2254
2255

He averaged 6.8 a touch.

If JT had played one more season of college ball he'd be number one.

I think Dayne lead those cats back then to Rose Bowls in Pasadena. With Taylor they may have gone to the Liberty bowl or the Clorox bleach bowl . Dayne was the OG Honey badger. All time leader Ron D

Saw Dayne play many times, he was more of an inside banger at his size but not the threat to go the distance like Taylor was.

Taylor’s a good back trending toward top shelf NFL . Problem is Wentz . The Colts will not have a parade with # 2 under Center.

The bigger problem is that Colts RB coach, he doesn't get.....lather up....for a RB. He keeps bringing in Himes.

You have a real bad habit of trying to talk about things ya know nothing about.
