The bigger problem is that Colts RB coach, he doesn't get.....lather up....for a RB. He keeps bringing in Himes.

You know this trend is pretty much the new NFL. Nobody wants to use a guy as a 3 down workhorse anymore except Mike Vrabel. Taylor has the skillset and the body to be a 20 and 5 guy.. 20 carries and 5 catches a game .. The fact that Reich won't do it makes me wonder where his head is. Especially given some of the really stupid crap Wentz has done when they lean on him. He needs to recognize where his bread is buttered and ride his one true horse.. I think that would lead to more wins for his team and more fun for those of us who like watch great backs work. A win for everybody.

We both know you need the carries to get it going we both ran better in the second half, all RB's do, You have to....lather up. As ya know after hitting where the hole/play was at it now becomes all about instincts, you ain't thinking you are reacting. That gets easier the longer the game goes the more work ya get. Ah.....talking running not receiving, that takes some thought,

I run a guy two drives, let him get a blow the third, then two.....

My stud comes in inside the10.

Yeah not only getting your own lather up you need time to figure out which of your linemen is killing his man and which one is getting his butt whupped. Same with running outside you get to see which DB wants to tackle and which one is going to be ankle biting. I've never been a fan of the new NFL with the "running back by committee" approach.. Especially when you have a horse. It's different when you only have a stable of "average" but if you got a horse.. ride him.

Never really thought of my line or DB's, I was just glad I did carry the ball, like 70% of our offense so I was thrilled. As ya know ya play both ways in HS, hell never left the field. Loved it.

I can see NFL RB's wanting a blow, that is whole other deal there. Just let him make that decision and we do see that going on.

A couple new to me thoughts in as many days.

OBJ looking for a team with a grass field. Never thought of that. Hell yes get off that hard stuff.

Your.....check with the big guys see who can dominate then roll behind him. Ah....letting the coach in on this.

I loved running over little DB's, and yes come late in the third you start seeing fear in their eyes, hahaha!!!!

You never had a bigun come back to the huddle saying "I own this mother-----.. run this way...?" Those were fun times.. And we had a coach who would run the same play 10 times in a row if they didn't stop it. The unwillingness to exploit matchups to their fullest is one of the most frustrating things to watch about modern football. So many of these guys are so busy trying to showcase their creative genius they forget the object of the game is to move the ball, score and win. If a play gains 8 yards on first down then I would be a lock to run it again on 2nd down at least 90% of the time. And if it gained 8 yards on 2nd down it would get a chance to gain 8 yards on first down again.

I only played HS ball HS kids not that assertive with how to run an offense.

I do believe if ya just ran the ball you could win more games. Speaking of the big guys they love to drive block, so put the game in their hands and let them know that. Now ya would need to use a few backs. While it might not work the first couple drives it will work if you keep at it.

With you on too many coachs try too hard to get creative and cute, just pound the ball, hell use TE's to pound a linebacker. Well hell......Army/Navy.....got the right idea, Pity their WR's.

This discussion reminds me of a game my senior year.. I think it was either our first playoff game or one of our last regular season games.. The team we played featured one of LC Greenwood's nephews. The local papers were gushing over him (and the fact that he played in Steeler colored cleats given to him by his uncle) and how he was going to absolutely abuse our undersized line, which featured exactly one guy over 200 pounds. Our guys were bulldogs and they took it personally. I think we ran for over 300 yards against that team on the way to a 28-0 win. On another note we also played Nate Newton's team, Orlando Jones, every year. They were a 3A team while we were 4A but they were in our league anyway for some reason. Jones was a holdover school from segregation which was 95% black .. That team featured Nate, his little brother Tim who played for the Vikings and the Bucs, and two other D1 scholarship guys on the front line. One went to Kansas but I can't remember where the other guy went. Talk about intimidating. We beat them 42-0. I still occasionally tease Nate about that game on Twitter! LOL! They probably had as much talent as we did but we were better coached.. Which is saying something because frankly I thought our coaches sucked! LOL!

Love the stories, L.C.Greenwoods nephews...whoa!

I mentioned playing city flag football, one season we had two former NFL players out there Lupe Sanchez and Michael Young both from my old HS Mount Whitney. To say they were simply on a whole other level than the rest of us an understatement. Lupe a one time AFC punt return leader for a season, UCLA db/Steelers, Young a UCLA WR/Broncos. Former Charger RB Freddy Ford also out there on a Tulare team. The league got so violent they dumped it. Last fist fight I was in out on a football field, ha!!!!

That name is a blast from the past.. He was like a #1 draft pick of the USFL Orlando Renegades, which was quarterbacked by Reggie Collier who would end up with the Cowboys after that league folded. I ran into him once when the Renegades moved from DC (they had been the Washington Federals) to Orlando and held open tryouts because there was so much talent in the area they wanted to tap into it. I had been training for track and field at the time and thought it would be fun to try out. I turned heads at that camp because I ran the second fastest 40 there .. 4.29. But I was still tiny.. less than 170 pounds still and only 5'7" so still couldn't get them to sign me. Hell other than after the 40 times they treated me like I was the water boy. But I did get to run a few of routes against their corners ..including Sanchez.. was able to run by them all.. But Lee Corso and co. had no use for a tiny receiver I guess.. But it did sort of give me closure on my football career. After what happened at Harvard I always wondered if I had stayed with it would I have gotten at least a camp invite from the NFL. That tryout kind of gave me my answer. A resounding NO!! No matter how fast I was I wasn't big enough to get a fair shake with the pros. I do think I could have done some damage as a returner.. but might need a cane to walk these days! LOL! It's funny that I remember all of them to this day.. but I doubt any of them would remember me.

You were simply unlucky with who you came in contact with.

Baylor had a tiny little WR named Gerald McNeil he was 5-7 140 pounds, a blurr, The Browns drafted him as a kick returner and he had a good five season NFL career, Made a pro bowl, had a punt and KO return for scores. He was called....Ice Cube

The 5-5 140 pound Nolan "Super Gnat" Smith, the little guy in the movie M*A*S*H

He lasted three seasons also scoring on a punt and KO return for the Chiefs.

Dude once roughed him up after a kickoff return,, so here came Buck Buchanon 6-7 and Ernie Ladd 6-8 off the bench to bail little buddy out, ha!!!!

Oh believe me I remember the Ice Cube. But if I'm not mistaken he got his chance to show what he could do as part of the Run-N-Shoot offense in Houston with Jim Kelly. That offense really placed a premium on quickness and speed over size because it was predominately shotgun 5 wide and spread the defense out. Corso's offense featured a 5'11" 230 pound RB named Bledsoe and both starting receivers were the 6'2" 210 pound body type. Needless to say I didn't fit what they were looking for. If I had not been married with one kid and another one on the way I probably would have paid my own way to Houston to see if I could get a look with them!! But like I said.. I had gotten my closure and it was time to grow up. I had a family to support.

The guy is great and has completely dominated every level he has played on, incredible HS, amazing NCAA and as of right now the best RB in the NFL. Anyone not seeing it doesn't know the game

As of right now....1122 yards 5.4 avg and 13 TD's...that gives him every HS season, every NCAA season, every NFL season with over 1000 yards, wow~

Now it seems everyone is picking up on PRINCE Jonathan Taylor something I've known about since his HS track days.

Herschel Walker, Marcus Dupree, Bo Jackson, Jonathan Taylor, over 220 and a sprinter.
