Yes, I got that one wrong and have already eaten crow over it. I'm hoping to eat crow over Joseph as well but it doesn't appear that can happen until next season.
Well with the top 3 starters in place maybe your expectations is not achievable for young Joseph. I think a full offseason and stay heathy for training camp and preseason would do wonders for him.

At best Joseph is the 4th corner right now, not talent wise but thet aren't benching Brown or Lewis the rest of the season......so my question is what's your expectations right now, realistically knowing he isn't the starter?

By the way i give respect to you for eating crow. Not many will do it......i didn't hate Parsons just thought top 15 was too high and i ate crow as well

For now, the best I see from Joseph is depth in case one of our other CBs get injured. The scouts saw something in him enough to draft him in the 2nd round so I'm hoping we all get a chance to see it someday.

He has the talent of Horn and Surtain and all there athletic abilities to be a lockdown guy. I has had some snaps and hasn't been a liability but it's his rookie year and most of it gone from injury.

The Cowboys management has always claimed that Joseph was raw and it would take time before he was ready to contribute in an impactful way.

Kelvin Joseph was the youngest player taken in the entire draft. It wasn't really his accomplishments in college that attracted the Cowboys, it was his physical talent and the potential. With some good coaching he could be a future star.

I hate “having to” because that’s how you get a taco
It’s way too early to judge here but as a philosophy you never let yourself get in the position you have to draft a position
If the player fills a need and is reasonably close to BPA then go for it
Personally I didn’t see him as close to BPA or best even at his position
But I’m hoping I’m wrong and we sure won’t know for Atleast a couple years

They practically apologized for drafting Parsons in the press conference that night. Told the world they were taking a cornerback with the next pick and they did.

No other position is treated this way.

I haven't seen them claim that even once.

Or, in light of the fact that this is a Cowboys message board, let’s discuss topics of interest, including the selection of a guy that a lot of people didn’t really like as our second round selection in Joseph. We all get that he might turn out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, and in fact I left that as a possibility in my original post.

Right now, the Joseph pick is looking speculative. Let’s hope that changes. But if Creed Humphrey were starting in place of TB, this team just might be eyeballing the top seed in the NFC.

While Joseph might turn out to be the next Prime Time, for this year at least, the draft pick’s return on investment is just about as meaningful as Rowdy on game day.
I feel like there’s a vocal minority that didn’t like him. Anyone who studied the draft knew who he was and that he was tabbed as a 2nd round guy. Talented and at a position of need, I feel like only those who weren’t aware of him or were wary of disciplinary issues had a problem with the pick.

From a talent and position standpoint he was the right pick, but as of this point there’s really no lengthy discussion to be had. Injury and a global pandemic illness aren’t quite enough for me to be thinking bust.

The "phenomenal" 2021 rookie class

Micah - Of course. I intend to write him in for President of the United States in 2024.
Joseph - Nothing. Not even a single.
Osa - Huge first month, disappeared since.
Golston - Just a guy.
Wright - Roster filler.
Cox - Out for the year before he could do much.
Ball - Apparently has polio.
Fehoko - Inactive all season except this last game where they just needed a body.
Bohanna - Zero impact on the run game. Clinging to a roster spot.
Mukuamu - Inactive for the season
Farniok - Ditto

Enjoy it. This is a special group.

Without Micah, that draft is a train wreck.

He wasn’t the BPA by a long shot. You don’t select guys who can’t play in the second round. You take guys like you are describing in the fourth round or lower.

I’m all fir “gambling” on a player with traits in an attempt to hit a home run. I am just against taking them near the top of the second round. I would have felt a lot better about the pick if he had been selected where we took Wright in the 3rd and better if we had taken Wright at the end of the draft.

I’m willing to give DQ the benefit of the doubt based on what he has milked out of this defense so far. But if DQ moves on it is going to be interesting how these “pigeon holed players” end up being used by the Cowboys going forward.

I am hoping for the best. Time will tell. I would rather see the Cowboys win than me be “right”. This is just message board discussion.
If he wasn't best available, he was close.

I know it’s early on in the process, and this may turn out to be a great pick. Having said that so far this pick hasn’t paid much in terms of return on investment. This pick SCREAMED as a “forced pick on a corner” at the time it was made.

I was really hoping that the Cowboys would have drafted Creed Humphrey to solidify the OL, and he has been a very good player so far in his young career. Again, it’s early, but how much better would the Cowboys be playing Humphrey at center over Biadasz? In my opinion a much better player (at least this year) and Creed was probably the BPA when the Cowboys made their selection in round 2. How he lasted to the bottom of round 2 is surprising.

Let’s hope that Joseph develops into a lockdown corner and makes this team better for years to come. But right now Humphy lookes like he would have been a much better selection.

I remember in the 2nd round wanting Barmore or Moehrig, hoping to trade up. When they were gone I thought Asante Samuel Jr. made the most sense. Samuel started strong, but has had some ups and downs. Wasn't opposed to OL either, but when the Joseph pick came in I was very surprised. Raw, but talented player that was likely going to have a red shirt year to develop. Still like his potential, but it's going to take time for him to show what he has at this level.

Asante Samuel Jr has a couple of picks this year picked three spots after Joseph . Of course he’s 5’10 and Quinn wants corners 6’0 or taller.

It’s unsettling in this regard the injury factor. Trysten Hill same issue injuries missing large parts of your career so far . Josh Ball another pick injuries don’t know how he’s going to turn out.

And with Carr going bombs away on Thanksgiving just about every series and PI flags thrown around like confetti to get tossed in a ST brawl when you finally take the field and can be utilized .

Bad pic as always.

Micah has so much talent he automatically elevates this entire draft class to "phenomenal" level. :D
