Who Replaces Quinn?

Likely Joe Whitt.

I have a feeling Zimmer will take a year off. Dude just seems so burnt out. If he did want to coach next year, and he was amenable to coming back to Dallas, he would be choice number one. He would be a good choice, for all his flaws. But I'd prefer a fresh face.

Quinn was an amazing choice cause he had time to reevaluate and change. I can't see Zimmer undergoing the same transformation.

If Mr. Quinn actually has bought into this Cowboys team, a dynasty may well be in the making right now.
Dynasties start with the hiring of a coach like Bill Belichick or Jimmy Johnson. It Carrie’s on because you have symbiosis between the coach and GM. The Cowboys won’t have that until something changes at the GM spot

And please don't just name some famous DC that's available.

Who is the person that will best continue Quinn's philosophy/system? We just went through an offseason through the draft and free agency to suit how Quinn wanted the defense. How do we best continue this?
I don't think and hope he doesn't leave so let's just wait until we know for sure.

The draft is an example of the symbiosis DQ has with Will McClay who is doing all the GM work. So you better recognize with DQ staying, we can have another Cowboys dynasty.

Zimmer would be the easiest choice and one MM, Jerry and Stephen can ALL agree on. He's a former Cowboys DC and he and MM coached in the division for years. Not to mention, his former Viking DC, George Edwards is currently on staff.

Side note.......his son Adam Zimmer is the Vikes assistant defensive coor and LBer coach.

First, Jimmy Johnson was floundering badly with his initial choices. He almost lost Troy Aikman with his own directions. If a last resort for OC, Norv Turner, hadn't changed the offense completely and suddenly came onto the scene...the the story line for Jimmy Johnson would have been the same as it was in Miami.

Dave Wannstedt was their defensive coordinator for a year, and remade and controlled the start of the dynasty's defense. He stuck around for '93 and then moved on...but again, as with Quinn right now, was the element of glue for the Cowboys.

As to quality at head coach, the current Head Coach has been in the Super Bowl himself...

get the whole story, maybe.

I don’t think it is far fetched at all that DQ might stay. I think he is actually being pretty straight forward when it comes to what he has said thus far:

1. He loves what he is doing right now
2. He loves this group of players
3. He did not take this job with an eye toward what his next opportunity would be

Are the jobs out there a good fit for him? Minny is probably the most ready to win now… Denver next. Depends on how badly he wants to be a HC again.

The older you get— the more you realize that quality of life beats “job titles”. JJ is going to pay DQ a ton of money to stay. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Dan stays for another year or two and “lets the market come to him”.

Not sure he has enough skin on the wall for Jerry and Stephen. They know with Parsons, this D has a chance to be something truly special. I'm thinking Zimmer or Fangio
Zimmer would definitely be atop of Jerry's list, but you would have to believe Whitt is MM's choice. If you want to keep the same type of scheme that takes advantage of Parsons unique ability, you don't hire from the outside, either Whitt or Edwards would be the choice.

I do not believe he will leave this year.
He has his choice of many HC jobs, unless he is waiting for another to open like Seattle, he is going to leave. I bet Jerry will try to convince him to stay, but he is going to take another shot at being a HC in this league.

Agree 100% but as stated in another thread, Whitt has never been a DC. Frankly, I wonder if Edwards as a senior defensive assistant is content w/o the responsibilities of play-calling/game planning. I agree Whitt is probably MM's first choice but can he convince Jerry to trust him. I'm not sure.......

Exactly, unless he's waiting for a particular job ( Seattle), he's probably getting at least 2 offers during this cycle.

He may want to stay since he is having early success. He gets a few more good players and could build a great Defense. JJ knows this and has a big check book. They are HC jobs open every year..
