Th
No it wasn't. The guy was stiff arming Hitchens and Hitchens just knocked his arm off his chess. The offensive player initiated the contact.
.

If they called that play accurately. It would have been off setting penalties. Hitchens with a hold and the TE with a face mask. Redo the play. Who knows what happens. To claim that cost them the game is straight stupid on anyones part.

Yes, it was a clear PI on Hitchens but the refs cheated for us yet again.
No, it wasn’t. I was at that game & the play was in front of me. The official that threw that flag was 20 yards away and the one closest didn’t. They did what the should have & picked it up.

Now, a case could be made there was holding earlier in the route, but it was such that it could have gone either way.

There were SO many missed holding and interference plays not called against the Lions that day, that they really had no room to whine.

Stafford will choke.

Just like he choked that 14pt lead away to Dallas. And don't forget, after that "controversial play" Stafford got the ball back late to win the game. Fumbled, D Law picked it up and tried to run and it got stripped and Lions got the ball back, Stafford has another chance. And he again fumbles on 4th down and game over. I love how people gloss over how bad he was after they went up 14-0 early and just pin it on one single call by the refs. After going up 14-0 on their first few drives, Stafford led his team to only 6 more points the rest of the way.

It should have gone BOTH ways and replay the down.

Somebody should send him the angle that shows the TE grabbing the lbs face mask to pull the defender into himself.

I have that angle and he did not pull Hitchens to himself. That just doesn't make logical sense. If you are trying to push off, which he was via the facemask, you literally push to keep the defender off you so you have room to get your arms in a position to catch the ball. The 2nd angle here shows that. If he wanted Hitchens on him by pulling, they'd be right up against each other. Hitchens winds up pushing his shoulder before the ball arrives and then puts his hands up because he knows that's a no-no. Offsetting for the push-off (plus Hitchens' hold earlier) and replay the down was the correct call.

Ndamukong Suh should have never been on the field that day. If the mediator doesn't outrageously overturn Suh's suspension, Dallas would have run all over the Lions that playoff game.

na all Stafford had to do was throw it with touch over the top to Peter Pettigrew instead he just threw at the defender meaning in order to make the catch Pettigrew would have need Go Go Gadget arms to get it. Good no call especially given that Pettigrew had illegal contact with the face mask at the start of the play.

He's right. But the final score is the final score, and it had the Lions' losing.
