I’ve seen a lot of people say he can’t be cut because of his contract. But if he’s designated a post June 1st cut it’s only a 4 million dollar hit and saves us 13 million. Have to see what we have in Steele and Ball. Let’s be honest he was pretty bad and we need to move on from his injuries.

Even bad Tyron was better than Steele. I would draft the next LT and Let him battle Tyron for the job, loser is the swing tackle. I thought the oline was the top priority last year, now its defcon 1.

NO, I did NOT say they were anything
All I said was every professional ranking system....ALL OF THEM...say they are.

So don't insult me just because they all disagree with you.

If you think you're more qualified than teams of people watching every play of the season on every player.....good for you.

This has been a year of poor line play around the league.....they looked at every team and ranked them.

Did you?

I simply said if you believe the rankings you are quoting.

Yes, I call BS on any ranking that has them anywhere near the top 5.

Some of you do know that the Cowboys are over the cap right? It’s either Cooper or Smith your choice.

He played 11 games this year. He played 2 games last year.

What in the world makes you think that with one more year of wear and tear and age he is going to play anywhere near 13 games?

Hope is not a strategy.

Because 11 games with him is better than none. Now if they draft a replacement then fine but that guy ain't on the team or available in free agency.

Trade? Are you kidding? Who would trade for Tyron Smith? He’s almost totally done, has a big contract and may be available if someone wanted to pick him up off waivers.

Look, I love Tyron Smith. He’s been a great player. He was my favorite Cowboy for years. But he’s done. He’s missed 32 games in the last 6 years. That’s the equivalent of almost two full seasons. He hasn’t played a full season since 2015. Were already hurting at LT!

Now do Trent Williams.

Steele was awful as a LT. He doesn't have the skill set for it.

Cutting Smith right now creates a critical hole.
Yeah, keep Smith, but draft someone and/or a FA. Do the same at LG, make Farniok the center and replace Phillbin.

Meanwhile, Aikman needs to stop drinking. Could only imagine how he'd crucify Dallas had him & his sidekick call the game.

The ONLY thing that would have made that game worse than it was .. would have been to have to listen to Buck wetting himself with glee over the meltdown ..

There are other ways to get under the cap. I doubt Jerry cuts one of these 2 but it's possible. But I'd also look at how they handle Dlaw's contract.

I invite you to watch that 49ers game again. I rewatched it last night and the problem isn't La'el and Tyron, they played great. Tyron didn't give not one of those 5 sacks, and he hasn't given up a sack all year, and La'el only got beat once, on that play that injured Bosa. The sacks came up the middle. Even Martin gave up one. The problem is Connor and Tyler.

I'm no GM so I'm not acting like I know how to run a team here. But since we will be short on money and a lot of FAs, I would move La'el to left guard, let Connor walk unless he take the minimum, if he takes the minimum he's a backup, move Steele to right tackle and let's try to find a replacement for Tyler in the draft or free agency while giving Matt a close look in training camp. Steele put in a lot of work in the off season to make that leap, maybe Matt can do the same. La'el already gave his blessing earlier in the year when he came back from suspension saying he's a natural at left guard. Steele played very well at right tackle when La'el was out.

But that said, yes we need to be looking for Tyron's replacement in this draft. FOR SURE the next draft since we will have a lot of FAs leaving and we need a good draft to replace them all.

Maybe Tyron isn’t what he once was but he’s still a top 10 tackle in football. You don’t just cut that guy.

keep him for one last run. Move lael to guard. Figure out right tackle.

Also, replace Biadasz at center with Farniok. And replace Phillbin.

Smith, Collins, Farniok, Martin, Steele

Draft a T and G, add another FA.

Go watch the cardinals / Cowboys game. Chandler Jones beat him multiple times including a sack. I like Tyron as much as anyone but he brings no attitude anymore and that is lacking on this team. I won’t be surprised If Tyron and Cooper are both gone.

Who do you replace him with? Gotta have a replacment, can just put any anyone at LT. If you do, you will not have a QB for long?

Stupid thread. He just graded out as the #2 OT in the league, and he barely missed anytime. He was held out of the Philly finale on purpose. Other than that, he missed half of the MN game.

trade them both...we have seen what they have and it aint much when the competition is hot. Tyrone just doesnt have that extra gear he had and cooper never had it for big games.

I do think you can milk another season out of him. But it is LONG PAST time to put Collins back at LG. Put steele at RT, draft another T to play swing and hopefully develop for LT.

Oh, and draft another (better) center.

" Have to see what we have in Steele and Ball. ." ..??

I think it's really foolish to throw that kind of danger risk in front of our franchise QB.
- Ball is very raw and has no game experience, you don't know at all what kind of player he is right now, but you wanna throw him to the wolves ?
- Those that observed the game saw how Steele faired at LT, ..he's not comfortable at all there as he obvious is at RT. But he's immediate your answer at LT ?
- Unless a surprise sudden retirement (ala Fredrick, Free) forces matters otherwise, my suggestion is having a true plan first before cutting Tyron.
