The same reason he paid Romo.

An undrafted guy that overachieved. He thought he found the next Tom Brady.

Tom Brady is the outlier. At the end of the day and when push comes to shove Romo and Dak will revert back to who they really are.

It's cool you say this. I copycat that description of Dak defaulting to factory settings.

That's my description of Dak and his whole scouting report coming out of MS State.

I forget which poster posted it and the exact scouting report he linked, but that post link was the most accurate and fully comprehensive breakdown of Dak's QB skillset and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has changed from that 6 year old draft report when he graduated from college.

Welp, Drew will no longer be the beloved 88. Grabbing some popcorn in anticipation of what folks will say about the HOFer.

So.......who's the next QB stud (Burrow/Herbert-esque) we should target in the upcoming drafts? We'll obviously be stuck with Mr. Biscotti for a few more years.....might as we'll start dreaming now.

Drew Pearson never played on a Cowboy team that didn't win a playoff game. Let that sink in. So his expectations are different.
Actually he did. In 1974 we missed the playoffs. Only year during those 20 consecutive winning seasons.

And in his final season 1983 we lost in Wild Card round.

Also in 1979 season we lost in divisional round in what was Staubach last game. I was there.

The 49ers game was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as believing Dak is our QB of the future. Sadly we're stuck with we the dude for a few more years. I don't know what it'll take to ever make me a believer in him again.

They overpaid dak because JJ can’t take the media pressure. The media was all over him “how could you not sign this guy”.

And now like clockwork a year later it’s “how could you give this guy 40 mil”

JJ plays right in. Can’t make a decision for himself which is why in surprised he cut Jaylon Smith
JJ "ate the cheese" as the Tuna would say.

The disappointment isn’t limited to Dak. It’s this whole team. What is it, 4 playoff wins in the past quarter century?

Agreed. Where was the offensive line? Why couldn't they defend against a team that wasn't blitzing? They used a four-man rush the entire time. The 49ers knew that Dak could respond to the blitz but not to the coverage they showed. It was a dead end. Kellen Moore should have seen it coming.
I don't like Dak's comments post-game but I think there's plenty of blame to go around. Honestly, it starts with Jerry Jones and rolls down hill. I wish we had a bona fide GM and a new head coach.

I feel like everyone for the most part realizes that dak cant get it done. we had the best team we’ve had in years and still one and done. But we’re stuck with him

I've complimented you before but it baffles me that the remaining select group of strong Dak supporters hang on to their egos/pride instead of just manning up and calling it like it is. This stuff is on clear display. Again, I appreciate your personal integrity.

Like it or not, Pappy was right when he posted about the pressure from the outside to improve all of these fundamental flaws you've pointed out here is gonna seriously intensify now. He's become an even more obvious target for the future.

I believe this is the beginning of a continued downward spiral that is gonna become even more obvious next year the more games are played.

Good post.

I don't have an ego...I say it as I see it and I never call my self and expert. I don't do eye test, I look at results, context, watch videos as much as I can get access to. diagnose, try to be objective...without having an agenda or emotions. I have said it multiple times, I am not smitten with Dak, tell me who else, tell me another plan, explain logically, and I am onboard on getting rid of Dak and bringing in alternatives....I don't play hypotheticals, what ifs and fantasy football. I want what's best for the cowboys

his footwork was his issue in 2016, 17, and 18....Kitna worked on his feet and I miss Kitna as QB coach and he became so much better. setting his feet, going through the throws, consistent release point and he became a good pocket passer, much more accurate. he trusted himself and didn't hold on to the ball as long, as he started to hit tigher windows.... all requirements for NFL QBs. 2020, in the first 5 games he was good, despite the team results, given how bad (historically bad) the defense was.

earlier this year he was the same and then after his injury he just collapsed. at first I thought it was the calf, but with the calf he resorted to his old habits (I really think his calf and ankle weren't ok at first)....he was reluctant to run and clearly favored the right leg, would lift his leg at the throw....... and then he started running again, which tells me his leg was better, but he kept his old habit. the worst I saw was the last philly game.....he lifted his back leg consistently and had a lot of upper body english to add zip to the ball....very strange. I saw he was behind the recievers in his throws down field...consistently....which told me he didn't have the same velocity, but his mind was still working on his old timing.

and since his injury, anytime he ran to the right and threw the ball, he missed most of his throws....it was 50/50... and I was surprised Mr. Analytics didn't see these things to make adjustments....

Drew Pearson knows what he's talking about.

Much more than SOME on here do.

Here is so food for thought.. Peason was all in with Dak and watched his growth year to year and thought the world of him as most of us did.. It's easy to sit back and say you're right on not liking Dak with the way things unfolded, but his story hasn't been finalized yet. I will admit as a Dak supporter I'm down on his play at this point because I thought the arrow was pointing up, but make no mistake about it, his running game and oline were terrible as well, a Kellen the Beaver Moore did nothing to help matters..

Lets be realistic, only a few teams have elite talent that can elevate the play of their entire team at this point consistently, and there is no magic pill to find the next franchise QB. Best bet at this point is to fix the oline and hope we can keep the defense from regressing. I refuse to ever lose hope, all teams typically eventually turn things around.. Just look at John Elway, it took him getting a good running game to finally start winning..

We’re getting close to the point with Dak that if he doesn’t get the Cowboys over the hump soon the entire fan base will bail on him. Fans that were on the fence with him have become Dak haters after Sunday’s game. It’s going to be tough because the Cowboys had the pieces to do it this season. The window may have closed.

Dak can help his cause by seeking out help from QBs like Aikman and even Kurt Warner (who keeps analyzing Cowboys footage) to show he is willing to improve.

The Cowboys can help Dak by hiring a better QB coach and OC.

The way teams play him and the way he throws deep balls I don’t see how you win 3-4 playoff games with him. These defensive coordinators get paid millions to watch yo and figure you out. You’ve been figured out

They figured out the running game. Dak has never been the priority of defensive coordinators, receivers are still getting 1 on 1 looks. Great and elite QBs don't get those 1 on 1 often because they would shred the secondary.

And yet, Pearson admits his confidence in Prescott isn't as strong as it once was.

"It's wavered some towards the end of the season," he said. "I was really high on (Prescott) ... when they first drafted him. I was excited about that because of what he did at Mississippi State. He brought that winning attitude there and I thought he could bring that here."

That was disgusting to watch just how bad of a QB he really is.
