My point is Jerry needs to come out and say something already. Stephen said it, but not Jerry. Jerry never mentioned one word on his radio show the other day. He talked about him fixing the penalties but never mentioned his name. He left it in limbo. Why?

If I had my bet those two are on the yacht in the South Pacific somewhere eating all this free media up as we speak.

100%......honestly I think he's still mad about the WC loss and this is his way of punishing the coaches. Let them stew in uncertainty.............

Whether it is legit or not Mike McCarthy is now a lame duck with Payton available.

It’s going to hang over this franchises head until the day Sean Payton accepts another job.

This is awful for our 2022 season and I think will be bad for this franchise going forward.

Also, how on earth are we just now finding out about almost getting Payton in 2019.. Dallas media needs to do their job.

This we agree on and it doesnt matter anyway because Payton cant change the owner......

I agree. He has to say something. Either Jerry gives MM a resounding vote of confidence. Or he gets rid of him.

He can't leave the Sean Payton thing hang over the team the entire year.

And if McCarthy can't get the job done again next year, he's gone

Jerry should just fire him now. How's he going to put his heart into the team knowing he's gone next year. Fire him and promote Quinn or Moore and if they do well then go with it, if they struggle then being in Peyton in 2023
Promote Quinn. Moore will get you a top 12 pick. I guess we Cowboy fans once again can kiss another season goodbye.

Worst part is this also makes hard to attract top DC when Quinn leaves. No top QC will take a job knowing he could have a new boss or get fired after next season.

Jerry will either hire a DC from within....or get Zimmer, he will take it and bring his hot wife with him.

idk if it is good or bad

if he win then there is no way jerry will fire him so maybe he will not be stupid and fix his clock managment and fix huge issue during the season and not say this is offseason priority

or maybe he give even less effort

hard to say with mccarthy!!!!!!

Exactly so if this is his fate he needs to let MM go...after the playoff exit who really believes he's marching over to the SB. At least we can have a potential to innovate the offense and fix Dak something MM proved he can't do.

"Lame duck" means a coach on the way out. Not a coach coaching for his job the next season.

If he wins in 2022 he'll be the coach in 2023.

Non issue.
Sorry, but I do not agree. If Payton is available, he's the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys

Deserved or undeserved, most of this push to fire McCarthy is a result of a push from the sports media….in part to absolve any blame from the players. The key underperforming players have been almost been given a pass on this fiasco.

the fans have been holding the players more accountable than the media has……remember when the media used to be honest brokers?…….these days they are just star struck pawns and shills for the players

I think they will address it this week or it really happens, no way they can leave this hanging over MM's head going into the tag deadline next month

There's nothing "hanging over MM's head" other than the thoughts of some fans and media.

He's heading into year 3 of a 5 year contract. His mission hasn't changed. What's there to address?

The 2022 season is going to be a joke. And it will conveniently fit with this team's history of following up a division-winning season. The players aren't going to take a coach seriously when they know he will be gone in less than a year. And the coaches on the staff are all going to be busy making plans and focusing on their next landing spot.

New Orleans will have a nice 2023 first round draft pick from the Cowboys for Payton.

Unless Payton does a Cowher and realizes that with his new wife and a SB ring in his pocket, this TV gig isn't a bad deal at all.

Something tells me we won't know what MM's status is until Payton makes a concrete decision about his future.

Perhaps that mystery could be avoided if Jerry decides to announce his intentions at some point relatively soon.

Unless you think McCarthy could win a Super Bowl next year and still be fired he is not a lame duck.

It's the definition of the term.
