Yes, but there's no SB coming to this team next season without a major shakeup

Thank you for that irrelevant opinion to the topic.

Unless Jerry Jones intends to fire Mike McCarthy after next season regardless of the results on the field he is not a lame duck.

A coach on the hot seat? Yes. A coach with a lot of pressure on him? Sure. A lame duck coach? No. He has a route to coach beyond 2022.

...all you had to do was win one playoff game. Lose the next one in high Moral fashion. ..but no.....Dallas came out as media expected them to..

Sorry, but I do not agree. If Payton is available, he's the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys

Not if MM does his damn job right and takes the team to the SB.
I don’t feel sorry for the guy. Do what you’re getting paid to do and there won’t be an issue.
He’s a big boy…..literally and figuratively

You always have to be a difficult jerk. My initial point and subsequent point is MM is not taking this team to the SB. At this point, my opinion is just as valid as yours. Poor time management and play calling will not cut it. So yes, he's on the hot seat

I agree with you pre gauranteed contract..I disagree with you post because the minute things go wrong the players will turn on him. And why not the owner is on board....

If I am McCarthy, I quit and take the Giants job.

Can’t believe anyone would do something like that if they were in his shoes. Their last head coach made it only two seasons. They have an unstable QB situation and Saquon Barkley is injury prone and in decline. McCarthy wouldn’t quit the Cowboys for that mess. lol

So then your initial point had nothing to do with what I was saying. You just wanted to fan rant some more.

It doesn't matter what you, I or anyone else thinks of what the team can do next year. Unless Jerry Jones intends to fire his head coach at the end of it regardless of how well they did then Mike McCarthy is not a lame duck coach.

"I feel like a lame duck coach.." Words that have never been said by any coach in the history of Jerry Jones' ownership of the Dallas Cowboys

"I won this my way" words never spoken by Jerry....come on man you cant see why this whole thing equals a horrible season by player with guarantee contracts....the minute things go wrong they will turn on the coach the owner dont back....but i get it good luck saying "MM has a chance to make them believe" when the core of this team has already dusted a HC....the beat goes on around here..we are a QB away or a coach..still..amazing. if i missed sarcasm I'm in the wrong.

I just checked in to see if what the feeling was about this situation.

Can we really be excited about next season with the same exact crew?

We could win 12 games next year and still be waiting on the collapse. Someone's head has to roll, and since we can't fire a player, why not fire a coach.

Fat Mike can take a hike as far as I'm concerned....but Jerry might have caught Fat Mike's clock management skills and fire Mike after Sean gets a job somewhere else.

Whether it is legit or not Mike McCarthy is now a lame duck with Payton available.

It’s going to hang over this franchises head until the day Sean Payton accepts another job.

This is awful for our 2022 season and I think will be bad for this franchise going forward.

Also, how on earth are we just now finding out about almost getting Payton in 2019.. Dallas media needs to do their job.
Agree
It's a shadow hanging over the franchise
Especially with Jerry's lack of enthusiastic endorsement
Of coach Mac

Payton is going to step away for a year. And basically McCarthy has a year to make a deep run in the playoffs. Pressure certainly is on him. I have no problem with that.

Next season is going to be a punt... You can feel it coming. They might as well move on from MM and let Will McClay run it for a year as a placeholder, then let Payton take over after his break.
