I mean his only act of wrongdoing in the lawsuit is texting the wrong person. Technically he didn’t violate any rules in this lawsuit.

No he's just guilty of being a moron. Lol
It's funny that everyone now has to see Belicheats cringe worthy text exchange. Dude slow down and read the last name, you chatty Kathy.

With the NFL fully in bed with sports gambling, the allegations of being paid extra to lose games are the kind of thing that Congress would raise both eyes at. That's the sort of thing that if the NFL takes it seriously (and they have shown that they are very selective on what they really transparently investigate), you could be looking at a forced sale by Ross.

This is where I think the Rooney Rule goes too far. The Giants knew they wanted Daboll, but they had to interview a minority candidate. I'm not against what the rule is trying to accomplish, just the way it is trying to accomplish it.

If we fire McCarthy next year, it would likely be because we want Payton, but league rules would force us to conduct a "sham interview" anyway. Some say it is good exposure for those candidates, but I'm not sure they see it that way.
He being the first one to call it out and the text messages make it look bad for the NFL. Legal or illegal this lawsuit will go away or the NFL will make it go uaway. The NFL is to powerful..

But it will likely cost them millions to go away.

Ok. Thanks. That’s what I was thinking but belichick worked for the giants at one time so wondered if it was old. But may have been no texting back when he worked there. Lol.

Yeah it’s strange. Guessing goodell and NFL will settle for a undisclosed amount. Good for him. If your qualified then your qualified and nothing else should matter..
My bad Belichick got a message from not only the Giants but the Bills three days before Flores got his interview.

The fact of the matter is without the Rooney rule they would never get interviews to begin with. You're talking about a group of owners who systematically moved black QBs to another position until 25 years ago. This sort of thing is never going to be pretty. But it absolutely needs to happen. I think most of us will agree that actually playing in the games is the best preparation for coaching the game.. and since 70% of the guys playing in the game are .. ahem.. you know.. "well tanned" then it stands to reason that 70% of the guys with the best and most intimate knowledge of the game are also.. er.. "well tanned." Yet NFL owners wouldn't even talk to them about coaching until they were forced to. Rich old guys are stubborn as hell and used to getting their way. They're not going to just hand over power willingly. It will have to taken from them. It's unfortunate.. but it is what it is. Here's the thing.. there is no guarantee that hiring a minority coach will lead to more winning for a team. I'm sure there would be just as many of them who suck as the other guys. The point is that they should be afforded the opportunity to become multimillionaires while sucking just like the other guys.. Fair is fair..

I agree, that's the one there's is no possible justification for. I'm not saying the Giants didn't do him dirty. They should be fined/lose picks etc. There is a procedure to follow and everyone knows it. However, they made a fairly universally accepted good hire. They will simply say they got their guy. Unless he can prove it was a racially motivated hire I don't see that being an issue. The issue is circumventing the Rooney rule.

As far as the Fins, how do you try to rationalize tanking? If he has something to back up the accusation they are in deep. Too much money involved not to be.

Unfortunately as much as I'd love to see Mara go down I expect it to be minimal. I also don't expect he has evidence of the tanking request from Miami.

I just hope he has a lot more proof than anything we've seen. Otherwise, he's committed career suicide for what will likely amount to nothing.
I read this post a few minutes ago and fully agreed.

Then I thought about it.....and the threat of exposing some additional real dirt may persuade the league into a hefty settlement.

Flores' career is now over, but he should be set for life, and is being a bit of a pioneer for the greater long term good.

Someone had to, and best it's a guy who has just come off doing a nice job but fired anyway vs someone who might give off a sour grapes impression, such as Marvin Lewis.

Personally I'm sick that a guy like Jim Caldwell doesn't have a job considering some of the stiffs currently walking the sidelines.
