Is that a way to talk about your neighbor dear?! :muttley:

All kidding aside. I understand completely what you're saying. We thought the same with Zeke in his rookie season thinking he'll be the new Emmitt only to see his game decline after his big payday.

Parsons COULD pull an Elliott hold-out. Then Cowboys Nation will be all over Jerry to pay him. When Jerry does & IF his play declines, Cowboys Nation will be all over Jerry for giving him a big contract.

But then again, Parsons could just be another Sean Lee continuing to play hard for 14 years or, until his body says it's time to retire. Both are from Linebacker University & not Ohio State. There's a good chance Parsons plays for the love of the game as did Lee.

It's a catch 22 no matter how one looks at it.

"We Are Penn State"

Or we pay him and it's too much giving cowboys fans something to complain about when they wanted the organization to pay him. Just don't want to see another LVE or Zeke ya know my dear lol, you're so amazing!!!!!!

After seeing Zeke, Dak, and LVE all peak as rookies, I'm hoping Parsons isn't another flash in the pan who fades once he has money in his pocket. Great rookie year but he's got to come back next year and repeat it. That's going to be tougher with OC's getting a whole off season to study him.

Right!!!!!!

Micah Parsons played phenomenal in his rookie season, but what's next?? Are we going to have this player with high altitude continue to play well, or is he going to go backwards. The way he talks, he's going to at least put the effort in to be great, there's no way you can get mad about that!!

I just want the cowboys to put the guys around him and everyone else so we ALL can be successful, what are your thoughts on this NON BASHING post about Micah Parsons!!?????

Parsons looks like a great draft pick. Unfortunately, we've been reduced to celebrating things like that because the team doesn't win anything beyond a lousy division.

I wouldn't be so sure that he's just going to lay off or that his agent is going to lay over and take LB pay when he is clearly a dominate pass rusher in this league
I disagree. When he is franchised, they will bring up how many downs he played at DE or rushed the QB.
The NFL has been through this before. A tightend sued the league, looking for WR pay. The tightend lost.

You didn’t read the post…
The OP is saying #11 is not enough by himself to turn the defense around. So quit talking about how good he is, because one player does not make a defense. So I chime in and let the OP know that # 11 will save us money. Which will indeed allow us to put better players around #11.

My thoughts are I don't know what you are saying. Your thread title is "Enough about Micah Parsons", then you go on to praise Micah Parsons, and further go on to say there is no way people can get mad Parsons for putting in the effort to be great, which I doubt it ever crossed the mind of any Cowboy fan to be mad about. Then you talk about the Cowboys needing to add quality players, which they do, but that's really not a point about Parsons at all, just a point about the team in general.

Except he himself went on to talk about how good Parsons is. In any case, if a person talks about how good Parson's is that doesn't somehow equate to him saying the team doesn't need anyone but Parsons

What?
The OP is basically saying we need more than Parsons. Then I respond with....Parsons can do a lot for this team from a cap perspective (his value to two fold).

What post are you reading?

Parsons has a good agent who is counseling him well how to make himself a marketable commodity in the NFL and this is the perfect team for him to max out his next contract.

I look for him to become even more outspoken as this defense doesn’t really have a leader.

The question is will he be the next Ware, the best player on a mediocre defense?

While I think the comparison to LT is really premature, I know that team had Belichick at DC and they didn’t just rely on LT and built around him because they were defense first and that is never going to be the Cowboys with this GM.

I think this management sees Parsons, Diggs and Quinn as problem solved and it’s back on the fun side where more stars are.

Parsons played awesome, especially for a rookie. And I think he will get better. But, I agree time for him to stop with the talking, it's getting to be too much. I do think he will continue to be an awesome player.

I'm talking about the OP. As you mentioned, he said we need to quit talking about how good Parson's is, but in the very same post he talked about how he had a phenomenal rookie season, his "altitude" (I assume meaning his high ceiling) and his drive to be great. In other words, he went to lengths to do what he advocates we all stop doing. In addition, I don't get him (the OP) equating talking about how good Parsons is with the belief we don't need other players. Again, talking about how good Parsons is doesn't somehow mean a person doesn't recognize he can't do it alone.

I didn't read your initial post on Parson's helping with the cap, but that's not really an immediate issue anyway. He will be on his rookie contract the next 3-4 years.

"The lion must eat". These are Parson's words. Most think it means he is hungry every gameday. If true he certainly backs up his words with action. However, I believe it means more than just that. I believe it means when his payday comes around he is going to take a huge bite. We'll see then how loyal he is to the Cowboys and vice versa. He may get offered more money somewhere else.

A BRIGHT spot of the season, so fans are fixated on him.

Enough about number 11?

#11 makes #90 expendable. Which frees up a ton of cap. And #11 will be re-signed as a LB not a DE, keeping his cap count down. So the 11 that you don't want to talk about, will do even more for this team in the long run.
What if the team is better with both #11 and #90? As for whether he will be reigned as a LB or DE, his current contract won't expire for 3-4 years (depending on if 5th year option is exorcized, and we don't know what the situation will be then with Parsons or the team, so it really doesn't make sense to try and factor that into the conversation.
