this is why you don’t tell the world you will cut him unlike our idiot GM

The world knew it though. Every GM has the power to look at the cap charts and realize that they are either going to restructure that deal or cut him and if they were going to restructure it they would have done it by now. Everyone can see he has only 6m in dead money and 16 million in cap savings for a team that NEEDS cap space. GMs are not dumb and know Cooper is gone and that as such they can sign him for 15m and give up nothing.

We better get a pick from him. If we release him outright, that's a damn shame

- Seems like Cowboys determined Not to continue to overpay Cooper.

- Something is occurring behind the scenes - team may not believe or be convinced that he is an Alpha male. And I'll continue to say that it's a reason why they
placed that escape clause option into his renewed contract a couple of years ago.

- And now the talk is they will choose to exercise that clause to cut him outright.

- And also take in that they either don't seem to be interested in restructuring his contract, ..or Coop himself has refused to re-do his contract.
Initially i thought maybe a no re-do was put into that contract as well, but that would not make sense - restructuring is flat part of the NFL business.

- BTW, i'm hearing whispers that DLaw may be cut outright too, as he may not be willing to take a pay cut.

- Stephen Jones may not feel comfortable any longer with just keep kicking the loaded can down the road.

This has always made the most sense from a cap standpoint. They should trade him to a team with cap space.

If that particular NFL team that is interested in trading for him, thinks he's worth that current contract.

Throw to the open man, it worked so well pre Coop
Lamb and Wilson are fsar beter options then we had PRE Cooper in 18 plus use the draft and or pick up Gallup or a FA on the market that can help for 1/3 of the price..
If coop wants to take a real pay cut not a restructure and wants to stay kudos i support it but 88 can be a #1 if hes actually schemed to be a 1 ie be the #1 target on most pass plays just feed him and have a nice supporting group under him etc. dez was better as the primary open not just an option..dak may have too many options and easoer to narrow it down to clear primary then a nice supporting group..the Draft is ful of young types that can play wr even in the 4th and 5th rounds..just get your supporting players like say this is our WR group,

Lamb #1
Wilson option for 2 if contract is friendly
turner
Fehoko

.than draft a top TE and mid round WR

i mean Gallup was 3rd rounder and drafts are even deeper with WR right now so a 3rd-5th WR could be nice add to full in the WR groups missing Coop and Gallup... deep draft for both and hope McKeon also takes a step.

Jarwin comes in mid-season ready to go.

Can't link it because of the rules here but Michael Gehlken is reporting from several sources that it would be considered an upset if Cooper returns this season.

Another WR dies in Dak Friendly Dallas........
Next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. If the plan is to go with Lamb, Gallup and a rookie/Wilson, that plan is not good enough

Our offense need to get better, not worse
I totally disagree. Lamb, Gallup and Wilson is fine. It isn't great but it is definitely good enough when we are already spending such a large % of our cap on offense. Our problems on Offense down the stretch were not because of our WRs (although their play in the SF game wasn't good) and we barely played our top 3 together anyway last year so I wouldn't expect as much of a drop as some are thinking if we go this route. We need to use Cooper's cap space elsewhere or not resign Gallup. It's just not a smart cap decision to have both here next year even though I love both, because we have much bigger problems elsewhere.

They have cap but are unlikely to waste it on a player making 5m more per year than he would get on the open market. He is a WR and there are no shortage of players who can put up 1000 yards a year on their best years currently in the NFL as there has been a boom in the amount of WRs lately. If anyone was offering anything of value for Cooper he would be traded but clearly no one wants that contract because they have seen a player who seems to have serious effort issues.
Jaguars 1,000 yard receivers going back to 2000

DJ Chark (2019)
Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns (2015)
Jimmy Smith (2005)
Jimmy Smith (2004)
Jimmy Smith (2002)
Keenan McCardell, Jimmy Smith (2001)
Keenan McCardell, Jimmy Smith (2000).

Ask any Jaguar fan who doesn’t want a 1,000 yard receiver

I know this is why you drafted ceedee to be the number 1 but he’s going to need help with taking pressure off him. Schultz ain’t scaring anyone if he’s resigned. Gallup is recovering from surgery. And clearly we won’t sign outside free agents. Idk how they think this offense will look better with out coop.

I am sure they want one but that doesn't mean they are going to drastically overpay for one. Plenty of teams will want Von Miller but he is not going to get 30m in free agency especially when if you are willing to spend 20m on a WR there is a better option hitting free agency this year who can go for and not have to give up any picks. So there are 2-3 good options at WR that you can get so why would you give up picks instead of just signing for the same price?

Lamb had more yards and YOC hes our next primary #1 sometimes its time to move on.. we nearly had 3 1k WRS in 2020 and if not for injury maybe in 2021..i think the system can help our #2/3 wrs be effective 800-900 yards while lamb gets 1200-1300 or more..

I don't know maybe because the Cowboys are 21 Mill over the cap, and releasing Cooper and DLaw will save 30 mill off they cap. May have something to do with it.

P.S.Dez and Beasley say hello.....
falling on deaf ears the top rated dak hater doesn't get a respected opinion. You are 100% bias most here do not take anything you say serious and about Dak. how many yard dez got after he left here..he was cut because he was injury prone stats down and no longer with his mouth. his lack of play cost cowboys say they were correct in letting him go. show me Dez post cowboy career numbers.

Hate drafting them high, unless there is someone special there.
3-4 round, if they take one, better not be a good guard still on the board.

They have us taking the OT from CMF or something like that with the first pick.
