10M is better than 20M for a laughing mistake. Schultz is the 4th WR, not the TE, he can't block any better than the WR's. And the QB needs his blankie when he's afraid to go after the NFL open WR's down the field.

which makes sense. TEs are cheaper. the franchise tag for TE is about the contract value schultz will get. Gregory is not nearly a franchise player, nor did he play at that level, nor his expected contract be close to franchise value of a DE at 20M
everything that you just said about Gregory also applies to Schultz

schultz as a TE is better than Gregory as a DE. 3rd in receptions, 6th in yards, 5th in TDs.

and if you believe Dak sucks, then that makes him that much better.

Gregory had 6 sacks, good for 59th, 19 tackles. 4 TFL. he is also 29.

so yeah, performances for their respective positions are not comparable. not even close. in fact, I have advocated for moving on from Gregory if possible. he played horrible against SF. had too many pre-snap penalties and many plays he tackled the OL men instead of chasing the play. he is not a franchise type player.

Big mistake. DE who can get to the Qb don’t grow on trees and are harder to find than a TE who can’t block.

his tag as a te would be cheaper.
smart.
i'd still draft one...as a replacement for jarwin.
They will tag and work out a long term deal. Back ended contract so likely cap hit goes from $10 to around 4-5

I’m pro keeping either one. I just think losing Schultz hurts more than Gregory. Schultz is dependable and is a safety blanket for Dak.

Gregory seems to be out quite often so I see why they want to go with Schultz over Gregory. He doesn’t have eye popping sack totals like many here seem to think

This is more about Duk Pratfall failing with another security blanket gone than it is believing that Schultz is actually a real TE....which he is NOT.

Lol come on now.

Tight ends aren’t rated by blocking. Only two tight ends in the last five years have been ranked top ten in catching and blocking. Kittle and Goedart. You think Atlanta cares if Pitts isn’t focused on blocking?

His blocking has gone down hill for sure but his receiving has turned around completely.

People just expect us to draft the next Kyle pitts in round 3 and he walks in and gets 800+ yards

If fans made the decision on who we should pay and how much we would be 0-17 every year. U have to pay top of the market to get or keep anyone that’s top 10 at their position. I think it’s because fans get emotional when they hear how much money it is.

You may not like Schultz as a blocker but he is a top 10 TE and what’s your plan to replace the production? TE as a security blanket is critical to Dak. You want to bring witten out of retirement? You can’t just dial 1-800-TOP10-TIGHTEND.
