No DEs in free agency worthy of a big contracts, so spend money left on best available OL and draft best available edge at 24 (should be good value there). Thoughts?

There's too much depth in the draft and much cheaper at O line. Get Kearse in here and let's roll.

So you want to compound the inept offseason by reaching for another Taco?

I think at 24 the BPA won't be an edge. If it's a choice between Dean and Karlaftis or even J. Johnson, I'm taking Dean all day. The flexibility it will give Quinn in deploying Micah probably improves our pass rush more too.

Meantime we have a lot of other holes to fill through the draft. I'd really prefer not to be locking ourselves into taking an edge player.

Those 5th rounders aren't valuable enough to buy you many spots in a trade-up. Not the draft for it anyway.

Why would the Cowboys have to do that? It would make far more sense to wait and get one on day 2 when the value will be there. Forcing a pick at a specific position at 24 is a horrible idea.

I understand BPA. But there are 3 edges in the neighborhood of 24 that are not reaches and who can start day 1. You may have to move a couple of spots. But we don’t have a starting DE opposite D Law in a 4-3 system that highly values DEs (and don’t say sign Dorance).

U guys are acting like Gregory was a double digit sack specialist.. the damn back up had just as many sacks and the year before Nolan didn’t even want to use him… don’t let this blind you Oline is our number one need

i think there will good edge ( de or olb), but this may be year to package some of the 5s to move up

Who?

Johnson likely will go before he 24th pick. The kid from PU isn't an elite talent. None of the LBs in that spot are premium pass rush types like a Parsons.

If they plan B was to draft a starting DE, that's likely a mistake.

Your DEs right now are Lawrence, Basham, Golston. Oh and a part time LB in Parsons.

That's sad. DE, and the DL in general, are as big a need as the OL.
