So let me get this straight - when he plays a weak team, and the play called results in a wide open receiver that can go 60 yards for a td, he's supposed to throw the ball away, take a sack or make a throw to a receiver that has 3 guys just waiting to tackle the receiver, so he then won't have great stats.

So he can't have great stats unless it's in a game against a top team.

Ok, now I got it. Thanks for clarifying that for us...

Absolutely. Why do I give a damn about Dak passing for 350 yards against the Jaguars? Then again the Jaguars beat us 34-14.

Stafford could've squeezed for more (45-47 range) but found it unnecessary.
The cap is a good bit higher this year.
Not really
He gets 63 mil guaranteed over next two years then 57 mil guaranteed in 2023 or he gets to be a FA again
Not too bad of a deal
And there is a big difference in a QB getting their first negotiated contract than their 3rd or 4th

I'm fine if you disagree.

Not at all saying Stafford did not get a huge and great deal
But after winning the SB in his 1st year in the system, and still having plenty in tank, I think he could've squeezed more but did not find it necessary.
I guess Rodgers--who is also in his 3rd or 4th deal--decided to max out.

No big deal.
agree to disagree.

Have you seen them address anything along those lines? They already walk the fine line of collusion with the NFLPA watching them like hawks.

Management is in a no win situation with the players because the teams are now the tail. Think GB wanted to pay Rodgers 50M and let Adams go? Hell, they spent a 1st on a QB to take his place just as they did Rodgers but they had to keep Rodgers or they're the bad guys to the public.

Watson made CLE meet his demands and that is just the beginning of more guaranteed money which has just done wonders for MLB.
Why can't they restrict QBs salaries to a certain % of the cap?
Would mean more money for the other players.
This could be addressed in the next CBA

That power and control have always been there but they've only used it financially. Notice Rodgers forced the Packers last season to sign certain players. The point they are starting to realize they can also use it to control other parts of the team. Example, if a coach and his franchise QB are getting alone, who do you think is leaving, lol.
Great points
I don't want the NFL turning into the NBA where the stars call the shots.

It could but will they? This isn't the same as the rookie contracts when they put limits on those. If they tried to address the QB's, they would have to do all positions.

Besides that, guys like Belichick hope these teams keep getting top heavy in QB salaries, he was willing to trade the GOAT because he wasn't going to pay him that kind of money.

Part of running a team and managing the cap is setting your own limits, as Belichick does, and not being regulated by positions by the league.

That is exactly where these agents have been trying to take this, guaranteed contracts and the owners have been fighting it.

But that is what CLE had to do in order to get him to qive up his no trade and pick them,

I don't think they'd do that for QBs specifically.

But they could add a max contract clause, regardless of position. The effect would be the same
I would think the rest of the players would be unhappy with the QBs getting such a large slice of the salary cap pie.
Less for them.

Yep a professionally run team would have an advantage.
Unfortunately we don't have that :(

Yep, that sets the "bar" momentarily.

The problem is Dak was one of the first QBs to crack 40/yr. The front office should have said large guaranteed signing bonus and 35/yr for 6 year contract and the ability to renegotiate after 2 years (now). Basically saying hey show us you are worth it in 2 years and you can have 45/yr.

But no, Jerry still thinks Dak is a top 5 QB. So now Dak will be one of the first QBs to crack 50-55 for 3 year contract.

If Dak called our bluff, let him walk. Hind sight shows we wouldn't have been any worse off and had a chance to sign some other big names.

I just can't stand the front office, the team, and Dak. It's a circus and I only really watch it to see the next wreck.

Pretty sure we are adding Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson real soon.......but one GM tweeted Watson's new deal could change the landscape entirely, whatever that means. Qbs start demanding fully guaranteed contracts?

Matthew Stafford signs new contract with Rams

Exactly and agents project the salary for their clients for the life of that contract. Dak last season as 2nd highest paid behind only Mahomes, that has changed in 1 season, he is currently 5th now in the 2nd year of his contract and more to come, then next season he will drop even further. Had Dak agent got him a deal for say 35 mill a year last season he would be far down the list and not much of an agent.

he means the way it was written and the way the league will view it and make them do some type of equality language..i dont fully understand it but they not only trying to bypass soem seldom used languages in contracts abut also had stuff in ti incase he is suspended this season so Hes not even going to pay for his sins, lose zero dollars..its a crazy backloaded deal to protect Watson and what not..its fully guaranteed if hes banned from the nfl the Browns still owe it all to him seriously its crazy why in the worked would Owner do that?

im sure there's links somewhere i just heard them talk about it on get up and really dont care..

yes dak no longer even close and after Lamar gets paid and Wilson is reworked he will be around 8..the FO knew this and its why he got his deal..its not longer narrative when hes slid to 5th and will be lower then that.i mean hes ranked by most 6-10 and now paid around 6th id say its on par for top 10 starting qb..

I am 37 and had backpain for the first time in my life this year. It was to a point anytime I stood up, i had extreme pain, and it took awhile to stand up straight. I read something, that is was actually not in my lower back, but in the muscles in my hips.

Went and signed up at the ymca, 4 yoga classes a week for a month and a half stretching out the hips and hamstrings + the rest of the body, and it is completely gone. Not to mention I have changed my movements all together and focused everything on my core.

I don't like the new age aspect of it and I don't participate in that, but I dont see how nfl teams are not making every player take yoga every day. I would think they could eliminate a bunch of soft tissue and muscle injuries doing this.
and yet fans here made fun on the fact the FO and coaches had yoga classes in training camp..ironic huh.
