What are our biggest needs?

DT, G, T. I don't see how some of you can watch our run defense collapse year after year and conclude the quarterback needs to be replaced.

Not sure now but I will know it when I see it.

In the draft they need DL, OL, TE, WR, LB and secondary and P and PK. Don't need a long snapper.

Needs
Defense
- long term RDE
- impact DT
- off ball LB to add with Parsons
- impact starting safety (Kearse will not be re-signed)
- more impact starting RCB and slot CB

Offense
- a true playmaker, game changer at TE
- quality backup TE
- a legit 3rd WR
- more quality WR depth
- a stellar starting RT and heir apparent LT
- a new impact starting LG
- legit FG and P
- Depth at backup QB

Sometimes I like to look at the roster from the perspective of 'what if all projects starters remain 100% healthy for the season'.
- Under that scenario, pick 1 position on offense and 1 on defense to add an elite player from the draft.

Envision the 2021 roster with:
- Equivalent of a prime years Witten at TE.
- Equivalent of a prime years Earl Thomas at FS.

If I could add 1 more it would be a prime years Travis Frederick.
- They could manage with anybody playing LG if aligned between Frederick and a healthy Tyron Smith.

Fowler has similar pass rush ability to Gregory but Gregory is a far superior run defender.
- They can mange with Armstrong on run downs and Fowler on passing downs.
- Parsons pass rush ability adding in makes that much more palatable.
- Depth is an issue if DLaw has more injury issues, but if everybody is reasonably healthy, there OK at DE.

At WR Gallup and Lamb are legit quality starters but they need to draft and develop another elite WR because they're hard to obtain otherwise.

Fans always clamor for a 330+ NT type but in the modern era the 2-down run defenders just don't play a high percentage of snaps unless their very elite players.
- Washington's DT pair (without the mental meltdowns) are the example of modern era DTs that are stout against the run but that can also rush the passer.
- Jonathan Allen (6-3, 300) and Daron Payne (6-3, 320).
- Are there any DT over 330 other than Vita Vea that play more than 50% of snaps?
- Danny Shelton only exceeded 50% once in his 7 year career.
- Note: To anyone looking at site like ProFootballReference, the snap percentage are based on games played.
- i.e. If a player only plays 1 game in a season, but played 90% of the snaps in that game, then they'll be listed at 90% for that year.

Replace these 2 and the Star will shine once again......

What is Jones doing - holding Prescott back from getting into it with an opposing player?

We weren't good enough to win a wild card game last year and as of right now we're worse than last year.

We lost 2 WRs and signed 1 that wasn't as good as either of them
We Lost 1 starting DE and signed one that isn't as good
We lost 2 starting OL and signed none
We lost one starting LB and signed none
We lost 2 starting safeties and signed none

We lost a TE-Jarwin and havent signed one either. The odds of getting a day 1 player in the draft to run this dominant 12/11 personell led passing offense is like finding a needle in a haystack. We suck at drafting and developing tes aka Hanna, Phillips, Escobar, Swaim, Gathers, Jarwin.

There are guys AVAILABLE like Cook that don't need a big piece of Stephen J's Cap pie. LMAO

center, left guard, then nothing but elite players on both sides of the ball.
ask jimmy johnson why?

Biggest need.....

Jerry Jones to announce that neither he or the kid will do a regular radio show....

And that Coach McCarthy and his staff are in charge.

That would go a very long way in a positive direction but unfortunately Mr "do anything to win" doesn't include anything like that.

Let's just trade about 2-3 picks for a Stud Te.

A great receiving te who can go up and get a mofoooo ball would make this wr group we already have AWESOME.

It's been 25+ years of one and done In the playoffs.

I just don't see how Schultz and Whomever is the #2 te is gonna win us any Playoff games. Ha ha ha

One friggin te TD in the playoffs in losing fashion over 25 years is Pathetic.

One of the worst red zone TD stats by tes for 25 years is Pathetic too

Te and Safety is not a position we can continue to sweep under the CARPET

I'd rather trade picks or pay big money than watch a pathetic te core for another 25 years Js

The browns got tired of watching Baker Mayfield so they traded and paid big $$ to get an immediate gamechanger vs going through the draft for 15-25 years ya see.

For those that follow more closely than me, what are the biggest needs (and pls no comments like starting QB, starting RB, those we are what we are good or bad) - thx

I assume...

Offense:
Starting LG and depth
Swing tackle/depth
TE and WR depth. (Assuming here they believe Lamb is a #1)

Defense:
Staring left DE (unless they think fowler is it, I assume they will use Parsons like last year)
1T (Every year it seems or am I missing someone)?
Starting LB/Depth (Will Jabril Cox be a starter?, LVE?)
S (Kearse? Are they planning Hooker and Wilson)?

Thx again

OL, DT & WR

Our biggest need is a GM who knows what the hell he's doing . . . :omg:

There are no absolute must have positions other than maybe LG and Kicker/Punter.
- The only projected starter that was a true fail last season was McGovern at LG.

They need to add a couple of elite impact players regardless of position.

Obviously several projected starters could be upgraded from OK to really good, but almost all of them are at least serviceable starters.

Starters
DLaw
Gallimore
Odighi with Bohanna play on some run downs
Fowler/Armstrong
Micah Parsons
LVE & Jabril Cox (They normally only play 2 LBs with one of them being Parsons)
Hooker
Wilson
Diggs
Brown
Joseph & Lewis

LT Tyron
LG McGovern
OC Biadasz
RG Martin
RT Steele
TE Schultz
WR Lamb
WR Gallup
WR the free agent signing
RB Pollard & Fat Boy

Agreed. Really not that bad if you put it into perspective. I believe Fowler will have a good showing reunited with Q, and Armstrong will continue to get stronger.

Also willing to give Hooker the benefit of the doubt based on his second half season play IF we don't bring back Kearse for the rotation.

Biggest issue is I can't see us forcing as many turnovers again without even more improvement. No disrespect to our defense, but some of that is luck sometimes and comes in waves. Lucky for us our young Defensive player who looks most likely to surprise this year is a corner.

Also, even though at one point it felt like we had half the team out for the C word, we did get lucky with injuries for the most part. I have a hard time seeing that happen twice and depth is thinner everywhere if we don't have a great draft.

If we draft one We'll prolly get another scrub at te we'll have to watch for 3-5 years with our luck.

Half of this forum said we could win with Escobar, Swaim, Schultz, and old man Witten. I'm still waiting ha ha ha

Pigs will fly before this everysnap 11 and 12 personell scheme will win a championship with 2 mediocre receiving tes leading the charge.

Maybe with 3 Jerry rices at wr and Earl Campbell in the backfield.

that is so important
Get good players and don’t get wrapped up in need
If you get good players you can always find a way to use them
Mistakes are made when you factor need over talent
But this draft looks perfect to get a really good player at 24 and fill a big need at the same time
There really are not many spots where we couldn’t find a way to use a good player though
