Winston had 30 interceptions two seasons ago with Godwin and Evans as his receivers…I want no parts of him.

Exactly I like Jameis but Tom Brady took the same team and won the Super Bowl.

you posted the stats from superbowl, but what about the other games they played to get to the superbowl or their regular season performance.

and again, of those you listed none making me go oh WOW, what a difference maker.....

I don't think Winston with this same group makes it to superbowl and perhaps miss the playoffs again.
Again - I acknowledged the Bucs were a solid team on their Super Bowl march.
But don't ignore the seasons before that: 5-11 during 2017 & 2018 under Dirk Koetter.
Then some improvement under Bruce Arians' first year as HC = 7-9.
Obviously, the biggest problem was Winston. However - the Buccaneers didn’t stop at just upgrading the QB ...they added more offensive weapons through FA (TE, WR, RB + New PK).
The new additions came in and helped the team already in place get over the top.

oh, I am not ignoring the fact that there were perhaps other areas of improvement. no team ever has a single change in a season (at least I don't ever recall one), but some have much higher impact than others and in this case Brady had the utmost impact on that team.

Dak is a top 20 starter in the NFL. Winston is a backup. Since they are on completely different levels, I find this comparison nonsensical.

I’m not anti Dak. I’ve actually been more supportive of him than many. So let’s get that out there first.

I’m not a Jameis Winston fan, but I see that he just signed for two years $28m. ($14 per year)

We are paying Dak roughly three times what Winston makes. If both were equally paid, I would choose Dak over Winston; however, it would not be surprised at all if Winston outperforms Dak over the next two years at about 1/3 of the cost.

You can’t win in this league without a franchise QB, and you would think that there are not many acceptable substitutes for Dak. But Matt Ryan was traded for a third round pick. Wentz is probably also in the “Dak ballpark”

Dak
Wentz
Ryan
Winston

All are “retreads” other than Dak. Would anyone be surprised if any of all of these guys outperformed Dak next year.

This is just food for thought on a rainy day in Oklahoma.

Dak is not a QB you build your franchise on. He is a bad QB you wont win anything meaningful with.

To discuss who is "a better QB you dont build your franchise on with" is just not worth the time.

uuuuhhhh, no. Winston is not close to 12-18. Mayfield is better, and he's not good.

Agree with others the TO's are too much of a concern with Winston. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if the others surpassed Dak. They were both at one time clearly better than Dak, but one has turned out to be a basket case mentally, and Ryan is getting up there.

When we talk about money, what are we really talking about? How it impacts the cap and team, right? That's what ultimately matters. Ryan and Wentz are a higher cap hit this season. They'll also be a higher cap hit next season after the restructure Dak's contract yet again. So in the short term, Dak is being paid around the same or less. As far as Winston goes, hit cap hit will be roughly half Dak's this year. Next year will be closer to Dak. So for the next two years Dak won't be negatively affecting the team anymore than those guys.

Dak vs Winston is anti Dak. Jameis Winston has been a turnover machine. His career QB record is 11 games below 500. The Bucs missed the playoffs with him in 2019 and won the Super Bowl the following year with a 43 year old Tom Brady.
Not that simple.

I hope we we have the right match of coaching and players to have real fun in the big game.

We found out a couple of months ago we don’t. I really don’t see that changing with the players we’re losing. McCarthy is pretty much a dead man walking heading into the 2022 season.

The difference between Dak and Winston is talent. Dak plays the Saints and puts up 9 or 10 points and struggles. Winston plays the Saints and puts up 24 and the Bucs lose anyways. Winston may make more mistakes but at least you're scoring points. The Cowboys would have probably beat the 49ers if they had Winston. Too many people when they look at DAk they look at all these points scored and touchdowns but that's coming against crappy teams if you look at him against the playoff teams he's terrible.

I agree with you. I just don't like the Winston results. Yeah, he definitely takes more chances. So we could have won. Or we could have lost due to his 12 picks.

Remember Romo and some of the bad passes that used to infuriate the fanbase? And I'm a Romo fan. Winston is like Romo after drinking a bottle of cognac!

What a ridiculous post! The Cowboys scored more points than anyone in 2021 and you’re saying we don’t score points? Lol You honestly think a mistake prone QB who’s a INT machine is gives the Cowboys a better chance? Lol Practically the same Bucs team that missed the playoffs in 2019 under Winston won the Super Bowl the following year with Brady. Tampa got rid of Winston because he was the problem. By the way Jameis Winston is 0-1 in the playoffs. You’re absolutely kidding yourself if you think we would’ve beat the 49ers with him.
