I can't believe that people thought that there was an actual chance of this happening.

You'll get your Dorance Armstrong, and you'll like it.

I mean the actual Von Miller deal is not that impressive and it did set the market. Just because ZDS is not going to beat that does not mean it did not determine the market values for edge rushers. I would expect them to sign him for 4 years 60-65m which is basically the reason the deal he had with Baltimore fell through (as it basically doubles it).

If he swings a deal like that, we are probably talking about half the guaranteed money Von got. Maybe a bit more, but I'd imagine no more than 30. The guaranteed money will make the difference, especially if anyone is concerned about his back. Although he supposedly has a perfectly clean bill of health, we know how that goes.

My thinking is with Cooper and Wilson gone and Gallup recovering, a WR at #24 gives the Cowboys an answer there for the next five years and hopefully beyond. They can go OL in the 2nd round assuming they are happy when their current group of DE's.
I believe OL is a better choice at #24 you can get WR later its deeper. My feeling at #24 there should be 3 or so there like Lindenbaum OC or Kenyon Green OG and etc.
The three positions the Cowboys don't need to consider @ #24 (besides the obvious = QB/P/PK):
WR - CB - TE

I wouldn't rule out TE. I hate to say it but 12 personnel was really effective before Jarwin went out. If they could get a stud back there with Schultz it might look real nice.

Guard
Center
DE
DT

BPA out of those groups is probably our best bet, with my own preference on the oline.

Don't forget Dante. It don't get no Fowler than that.

Who knows? If JPP is injured and old enough that no one wants to offer him a multiyear deal, we might add him to the mix.

What? I don’t think that’s accurate at all.

Smith is a MASSIVE OLB and Dallas doesn’t run a 3-4. They run a hybrid 4-3. Smith would be a hand in the ground lineman. Parsons and Fowler would be the LEO hybrid rushers.

You could slide Smith inside, but you definitely wouldn’t move Fowler inside. He’d be horribly undersized and get manhandled.

This does not preclude you from signing Smith. He can stand up In a 4 man nickel front and as an OLB in a 3-4 when that is used. There are plenty of ways to get him on the field. Most teams have 4 man fronts the majority of the time. Good DEF co-ordinators can get the best out of great players.

I never said it precluded you from signing Smith. I’ve been asking for Smith for two weeks. He’s a dynamic playmaker that could play three positions in Quinn’s defense. I just don’t think OLB is one of them. Signing Smith would be their first real talent upgrade of the off-season. I’m all for it.

Just remember, Jerry and Stephen went cheap at WR in 2018 telling us all offseason that they believed WR by committee would be effective and work with Hurns, Beasley and Thompson and a draft pick in Gallup. By October, they knew they had screwed up.

They are going to repeat this mistake at DE. They are going to likely draft a DE somewhere in the middle round and then tell us that Lawrence, Armstrong, Basham, Fowler and the rookie will be good enough with Parsons sometimes playing there. And then by October, they will realize, crap, we have a mediocre pass rush.

They are scared to death or too cheap to take a risk in FA anymore. And it constantly hurts the team.

Smith played 3/4 outside linebacker with the Ravens and Packers. Do you mean off ball linebacker.
