So Jerry and Stephen think they are NFL GMs that are capable of building a team, evaluating talent, signing free agents and everything that involves building a championship roster

Besides being billionaires what makes them believe they can do this?

30 years of history is in the books now…
Million dollar question we ask each other daily.
Must be nice to play fantasy football in real life!

Well first off Jerry was just a millionaire when he borrowed the money to buy the team.
He made himself president and general manager, because his ego was so big he thought he was smarter than anyone else anywhere in the NFL.
He thought he would be the best GM in NFL because he was the smartest guy in NFL.

Over the years he has realized maybe he isnt the smartest GM lol, but he enjoys playing the part.
The cowboys are his toy, and he will run the team and org however he wants to, winning or not.

Stephen got his job from his daddy, and probably feels he is as qualified as anyone else in NFL and he is the 2nd smartest person in NFL LOL.

And he too has a big ego, and enjoys playing his role win or lose.

The team is their toy, and they like playing with it so much, that they like doing that more than actually winning SB's.
Plus they still think they can build a SB team and get it to a SB and win it.
Turns out they are slow learners, as after 27 years of failing, they still think they can do it.
And if they cant/dont, it is no big deal, because it is so much fun trying.

I think another 20 years of jerry, and then steven, and maybe by 2042 something will change !! lol
So if you can live past 2042 you may see something different with cowboys, maybe not though, as another jones may step up and take over
and do the same crap.

The amazing thing is that both jones boys ignore the fact all the success came when Jimmy had total control of the team and drafting, and trades.
Smart strong coach in charge of it all, = SB wins.
But they want to play with the team, and win with some bozo puppet HC, and just ignore what was done back in 90s when jimmy built that team.

When you own a team, you dont have to be qualified to play any role, heck Jerry could be HC too if he wanted to do that.
But as it is they can always fire the HC and hire another one to give the fans hope things will change, and avoid blame themselves.

If fans would stop going to the games, and the stadium was half empty, then they might step back and hire a real GM and HC, but unless that happens
and it wont, they will keep doing what they enjoy doing.
Great rant dandy!!!!

It is just simply not possible for me to agree more with everything in this post. We are victims of stupid owners with giant egos that are living off the past that someone else provided. It really amazes me that it has taken 26+ years for most of the media to finally start admitting what is going on.

Dufus... They own the Cowboys, lock stock & barrel. They can do anything they want whenever they want as is their right. You can like it or leave as is your right.

I kid you not, Jerry Jones honestly beleives he deserves credit for any success caused by someone he has hired. Head Coaches are merely employees like a secretary or a servant. Of course, this does not apply to failure.

In addition, Jerry beleives in expertise through osmosis. Hiring talented staff automatically transfers said talent to Jerry. Every once in a while you can hear Jerry explain something to the media and it's a little off. You can tell it was second hand information in which someone tried to explain it to Jerry and he only got 80% of it.

Quite often, Jerry will make a statement that hints at his belief that he should be able to buy anything he wants, including success. He has never had to earn any position by advancing up through the ranks. Jerry's first job after college graduation was Vice President of an insurance company, owned by his father.

They saw how "easy" Jimmy made it look. That is why. I'm being dead serious. I remember Bill Walsh saying how Dallas (read Jimmy) had built something that was on the verge of dominating (like we've seen from the Pats) for a long time....and the only thing that stopped Dallas was free agency. Well...little did he know....free agency was a small part of it...the biggest part was the Jones Boy's.

The "credit" is mostly reserved for players and coaches. While the majority of the MONEY is reserved for the owners. Not a bad deal since the owners can't play or coach AND they are making more money than they ever could have imagined. Right? Wrong! Who knew the Jones boys craved the validation that is normally reserved for players and to a lesser degree the coaches. Heck, I would venture to guess the Jones boys themselves did not know how insecure they were.

Here is the funny thing, the coaches and players (millionaires) would trade places with the Jones boys (billionaires) ANY day...yet the Jones boys want what the players/coaches have. Adoration. Admiration. Name on the back of the jersey's. Mic in their face. Lots of "followers" on social media. To be honest, I am STUNNED that one of the Jones boys has not donned a headset and named themselves the head coach of the team. I guess we should celebrate that they have spared us of that spectacle?

I am so conflicted. What the Jones Boys have done...the outright robbery of this fanbase...makes me wish nothing but misery for them. But that means I have to be miserable along with them(without the benefit of seeing any of the cash). People need to stop counting the 3 Super Bowls. The longer we are removed from them...it should be obvious they had NOTHING to do with them. So with that being said....the dirty truth is...the Jones Boys have had ZERO success as the architects of the on field product. Who gets 25+ years to produce ZERO?????????!!!!!!! Since they are the owners...I could see them giving themselves 10 years....but 25+? What we are witnessing is a perfect storm. Where ego, greed, senility, money, insecurity, lack of self-awareness have all collided to create what I consider to be one of the biggest tragedies in sports. I cannot stress how unbelievable this is. What we are witnessing may not ever be repeated in our lifetime. And of course I am aware there have been plenty of teams that have NEVER won....but here is the difference....never has the SAME GM...been afforded 25+ years to get it right!!!!!!

The whole world knows they bought the jobs and retain the jobs b/c they own the team. Both are the subject of much snickering and comic relief in other NFL front offices

Right. The King who owns the rubies makes the rules.
And you know what is most depressing is that nothing will change when Jerry kicks the bucket as only family members need to apply for the job.......

Billionaires have the best toys and Jerry is no exception. Young girls and the Dallas Cowboys are his two favorite things to play with and he ain't stopping any time soon.

Because they can. Like all mom and pop operations it allows you the opportunity to run your own business. It’s up to the patrons to hold them accountable if the product under produces .

Unfortunately Cowboy fans have been sending them the wrong message last couple decades + with record revenue.

Jerry road Jimmy's coat tails to building a dynasty very soon after he bought the team, but Jerry believes he is more responsible for it, so therefore he believes that the success of the Cowboys in the 90s was due to his decisions.

So, the early success, although great to watch, was a curse in the long run. If we don't have all that success at the beginning of Jerry's purchase of the team he might not have gotten so consumed with the belief that he knows what he's doing.

The Joneses have been part of three championships that’s what makes them believe they can do this.
But the biggest factor that made those championships possible is gone. Surely, they see they’ve struggled, a bit, to fill that role over these years.

Narcissism isn't just some word.

They truly think that they are smarter than everyone else.

It's a unique situation, as one typically cannot buy or intimidate every media outlet...allowing the ego trip to take place in comfort. Jerry seems to have pulled that off.
