I had rotator cuff surgery a couple of years ago, and was out of work for 6 months. My shoulder is just now starting to feel about 95%. But I'm 58 years old tomorrow, and mine was torn for 13 years before I got the surgery. I don't know what the normal recovery time is for an NFL player.

Did you consistently have pain before surgery? asking because my doctor thinks I tore mine.

When it first happened, I couldn't lift my arm shoulder height. Apparently, the first doctor I went to was an idiot and couldn't figure out what was wrong, even with X-rays and CT/Scan. He gave me a shot of cortisone, which worked okay for a week, then he tried another one which didn't do squat, so decided I was done spending money on it. I was able to eventually compensate for it, for about 13 years. Then it started waking me up several times a night in intense pain, so I went to a much better doctor and got the surgery.

One of the most over-rated players in Dallas history. He has some talent— but damn— people act like his 16.5 career sacks are irreplaceable lol

And to top it off he showed his true colors on his way out… bye Randy lol

If he would have signed with Dallas, and had the surgery, this place would be going ballistic by the usuals.
And rotator cuffs are tricky, once an issue, they can be a lingering issue.
Baseball and football both put a lot of stress on the shoulder.

But why didn't he get it earlier in the off-season? I guess if the team he's on is footing the bill it had to wait until he was under contract.

As one who has had this surgery, I went through 3 months of physical therapy to see if that could resolve the pain issue I was having before my surgery. Maybe the wanted RG to do the same thing. He should be back and ready to play full strength by August as long has he does not do anything stupid while he is rehabbing it.

I don't know what you had done & I'm no shoulder expert, but isn't a scope pretty basic?

On 1 hand:
Gregory will turn 30 later this year
Has 16.5 career sacks in 50 games played
Had only 19 total tackles last year
Was embarrassingly bad versus San Fran in the playoffs.
Had rotator cuff surgery and has no timeline yet to return.
Cost 28M GTD for next 2 years.

On the other hand:
you guys hate Jerry so he has to be wrong.

Tough call imo.

Evidently, all NFL players have medical insurance to get that stuff done at any time; even after they are cut/not signed as FAs. It came up with Antonio Brown trying to justify not having had his ankle surgery yet and Shannon Sharpe called him on it.

Oh. "At any time" is sort of up in the air given certain...circumstances that delay procedures dealing with non-life-threatening stuff.

That's a fair point about the physical therapy. I wouldn't bet on him doing something smart or stupid. You never know with that guy. Glad he's no longer our concern.
