Jerry and the FO deserves some credit for this draft.
Not because it was a great draft, as it was not great, but far from horrible also. Even though some think it was very good, others did not think so.
I am still "processing" it all.

They pretty much kept the team at status quo. Between the draft and FA, the lost players, then signed a few FA's as well as many of their own players (yes cue the we like our guys posts). But also with the draft.
Basically replaced lost players, but players with a very good upside.

But I say kudos for the draft, because, they stuck with their picks.
They did not trade up to lose picks, they did not trade down to lose out on a player (though many wanted them to draft their pet cat, but that is normal). They also did not do any stupid cute trades or trade any future picks. Like a 2023 6th to get a 2022 7th.

When was the last time this happened? I was happy they used all their picks, as they think they did so wisely. I am not drawing any conclusions though at this time.

I can see where you are coming from, and I will agree. They took the player they needed instead of maybe what they wanted at another position where the need may have been there but not as great even though the player available was closer to BPA

Won't know for at least two years, but I don't think the overall talent level in 2022 was all that great.

14 first round grades sounds about right.

Agree, they seemed to have a plan coming in and only considered trading up if their targets were within reach in the 1st round.

It was a needs based draft and that's OK. What wasn't OK was that old fool trying to show off over the 1st pick.

I would like to see the Cowboys be a little more aggressive in the middle rounds. Last year they had 3 3rd round picks and I was hoping they would move up and maybe grab Milton Williams.

This year they had 4 5th round picks and instead of moving up at certain points to grab guys who fell. I am pretty sure they could have moved up in the 3rd and grabbed Dean ahead of the Eagles. Even if it cost them 2 5ths, so what? They did not get anyone special in the 5th.

If you are not going to use Free Agency to sign good players then you better make sure you get good players in the draft.

I’d say that’s about right. This draft was more deep than super elite
And starting at 24 is not like the top 10
Overall I think we got some good prospects. Time will tell if we can develop them into good football players

The upside of Smith and Williams were probably worth it in a draft like this.

It is sort of boom or bust but I'd probably rather take some risks for a change.

I know this much....my LG may draw a flag more than we would like, but this one ain't gonna stand for getting pushed around.

Jerry isn't as dumb as some of you think....it's his good old boy attitude.....I was pleased with the picks, considering we were picking at the bottom of the rounds.

For what????? The second round dude they drafted is more concerned about his new name, than his NFL GAME!

Well he definitely does.

I see it this way.....he really just needs to clean up the penalties. If he didn't sound coachable, I wouldn't be very optimistic.

Being inside alone should help solve the need to grab, but let's see.

But he won't be some average guard....either he can't fix the grab thing and can't play, or he will be leading the league in pancakes and potentially help bring back a strong running attack.

Great post. I would add. I wish they would have gone after Wagner , for real. Beyond that. We’ve got some nice talent to work with. Love what they did with 2nd and 3rd round. Very nice

Very impressed they dumped overpiced players not earning their salaries. Give me some hope.

Now Zeke should be next and we should be in great shape going forward with the draft.
