I think we've gone overboard with Dan Quinn and I'm just as uncomfortable with him having so much input on who we draft as I was with Rod Marinelli.

Wanting Nahshon Wright in the 3rd round should have disqualified him from any future draft decisions.

You should know by now that you just can’t go wrong when you draft a CB.

Can't wait for Quinn to get his hands on this kid. He turned a LB int one of the most prolific pass rushers in the league last year. Anyone paying attention knows that that was never really the plan with Micah last year. Even in training camp, Parsons didn't get a whole lot of work off the edge (though he did work with D Ware on some technique). Getting his hands on this guy early and refining his technique could be huge. This guy is going to be better than Randy Gregory when it's all said and done. Book it.
In the post draft press conference last year McCarthy talked about how Micah would play both “on the ball” and “off the ball”. He talked about how good Parsons was getting after the QB and how they wanted to use him all over so offenses in their Saturday night protection meetings wouldn’t know when or if he was coming after the QB. So, having Micah rush the QB was always part of the plan.

You’re right though that Quinn is going to be able to do a lot with Williams and Parsons. I expect him to have a lot of different stuff in store for those two. I can’t wait.

Anyone who was vaguely familiar with De (Sam) Williams' college record as a sack artist should thank his luck stars that Dallas picked him. His main shortcoming was his ability to cover the run, but that should be well attended to by Dan Quinn. Williams has the quickness and strength to excel in that phase of defensive play. The recognition will come in due time with the capable coaching available in house.

De Williams has all the speed, strength and quickness needed to excel as a pass rusher as our DE on the right side. He will surely prove to be a significant improvement over the likes of Randy Gregory. With Micah Parsons, Tank Lawrence and De Williams assigned to pass rush duties, we certainly should figure to be "Hell on Wheels" for opposing QBs. I'm sure they'll be fun to watch. :D

I saw the same thing.

The BEST edge rusher in this draft.

His 12.5 sacks and 16 TFL production certainly did nothing to dispel that notion.

His elite measurables only enhanced this opinion.

In Baldy and DQ I trust. Neither are infallible but De Williams is an obvious slam dunk talent that would have been drafted significantly higher if not for his off field issues.

SW certainly outperformed both Travon Walker and Kayvon Thibodeaux, measurables and production.

Somehow, a Baldy Breakdown that is positive about the draft pick, makes me anticipate good things from the player. And Baldy didn't mention the cumulative effect of playing alongside Micah Parsons. It's going to be a jailbreak at times.
Baldy is probably the biggest Parsons fan on earth, so he may have wanted to tone it down

You're right. He should have pounded the table for him in the 2nd. Or at least draft him twice with consecutive 3rd round picks. You gotta make sure you get your guy

Sam has the quick twitch and bend ability naturally and can get to the QB already.

The main issue with him was his maturity, and the word is that he is a family man with children now and that has changed his life in a positive way.

He will get better with further technique work and coaching with respect to the run, they will get him in the strength program as with all the other rookies!

Looking forward to seeing how he develops and what he can add to the pass rush.

You can always find reps for a pass rusher. He was a great pick for us in R2.

This isn't cherry-picking through a year of footage though, this is all when facing his toughest opponent. In this game, Williams probably only played 20 snaps that game at RDE with another 20 snaps at LDE where he was actually more dominant but against a lesser opponent. So taking his 5 best reps out of 20 or so makes this all the more impressive IMO.

There's a lot of people really high on Williams, he could be the best edge rusher in this draft once he builds more lower body strength and pass rush moves.

Yeah it seems we took a lot of high upside, unfinished type players this draft.

I suppose that's good considering we've been stuck in a pattern of mediocrity. We need to either be aggressive and accomplish something or let it all blow up and start again.

1) In Micah's introductory press conference they talked about him being their #1 rated pressure player in the draft and how he would be used that way. It was one of the main points of emphasis of the conference.

2) If Dan Quinn is this creator of pass rushers why did Dante Fowler leave the Rams after getting 11.5 sacks in 2019 to join Quinn in 2020 where he ended up with only 3?

He sucked on the Falcons b/c put they put him at DE. He was an OLB with Rams in Wade Pillips' 3-4 defense. He is a prototypical OLB in that scheme who plays well in space not with his hand on the ground . His comp is Greg Ellis who was a draft disappointment and never sniffed a pro bowl until Parcels moved him to OLB. Falcons play a 4-3 and had him at DE. I honestly don't know why we signed him. And oh yeah, he's way more talented than this rookie from Ole Miss.

This is what I like to see. Williams going against the guy Baldy called the best OT in the draft. Who does Williams look like with that move to the inside? Micah Parsons.

Wait until Demarcus Ware gets his hands on this kid.

Although he is very good, in the NFL, he does need to have several moves...including the bull rush. Not just trying to go around most of the time. And he stops his feet allowing the OT to reset himself. But he is fast, quick. great effort and should learn a lot in TC and PS. Great upside for this kid.

he is very quick off the snap but he doesnt have the power of even Micah,he cant convert that speed to power and cant disengage like Micah.all of it can be taught though and he can put on some muscle and not lose speed.
