Mel Kiper on our first two draft picks

Kiper is a paid actor filling a role for espn. In other words, he's a fraud, always has been. He's never close on any of his mocks or predictions. Teams laugh at him all the time. Like they give a crap what he says about players or when they took their draft picks.

Kiper's a fraud? He's been doing the same thing since the first televised draft on ESPN back in 1981 and literally invented the whole idea of grading drafts. He usually grades us in the C range and how can you possibly argue given the fact we are about .500 over the last 20 years.
He is on ESPN b/c he is a living legend.

It was obviously tampered with. It had Utah beside his name .

I’m not overly displeased with our draft. Said B-. Thought our 3rd and 4th round picks were great and liked the idea we took risk in 5th round.

And we did address our two biggest needs in 1st and 2nd round . But it’s how we sell it based on the criticism that’s so appalling.

You're confusing mocks with value, Rowdy. Mel and Lance might have mocked the reach of Tyler Smith but their value board didn't have him in their top 40.

And the reason why the Cowboys are getting such low draft grades is because of those reaches in the 1st and 2nd round.

I like this draft I hope it’s not like the 2007 special teams draft the worse one in nfl history. I understand how it sounds not sexy to draft dependable guys but that’s what we’re looking at.

I like Mel and all his hard work that puts into the draft and he's really good entertainment but like most so-called "draft experts" they are way off many times when it comes to "draft grades".

And Mel would be the first guy who agrees with you. Draft experts are wrong sometimes. Coaches are wrong sometimes. NFL scouts are wrong sometimes. The standard here is not perfection.

To his credit, Mel is the only draft guru that annually publishes an article on his worst draft errors. I will say this, he's not wrong on the cowboy drafts very often. He usually grades us in the middle which is about where this team is over the past 20 years. So, while he may over rate or under rate a player on occasion, his overall draft grade is usually not far off the mark.

It’s so sad that our fans take the likes of Kiper as gospel and won’t even give these guys a chance.

I have not paid much attention to the mocks this year and just saw a copy of Kiper's last mock on The Sporting News (link). That is hilarious. Thanks for posting that. I needed the laugh.

His last mock of the draft season is always based on what he’s hearing from his league sources.
