A lot of people know more than Kiper, You ever wonder why no NFL team has ever hired him as a GM or head of scouting? Yet he puts out a publication and we are all supposed to buy into what he says when no team in the NFL past or present has every called on Kiper
Kiper said the Baltimore Colts wanted to give him a front office job, but he turned it down.

Should be a solid TE here. With the way this offense uses the TE position it shouldn't be super hard to find a decent player to be productive. He fits the mold.

Look for some awesome tight end blocking from Jake Ferguson from Wisconsin, whose players usually are better in the pros. Jake is an A+ blocker, 4 year starter. He will be the best blocking TE on the Boys ever, not named Billy Joe Dupree and Jason Witten.

He will make an immensely big improvement in the running game. He is a ready to play, all purpose TE, a better blocker than the other TE's in the draft. He needs no learning curve. He will make a big impact from the outset. His slower 4.81 speed kept him from being a 2nd round pick. But he does not have to run longer routes. In addition, although not fast, Jake catches everything, knows how to get open, and is a super smart player on the field. I want him in on all short yardage plays and at goal line snaps.

"A linebacker, receiver, punter, and all-around specialist for Madison Memorial High School, Jake Ferguson entered his tenure at the University of Wisconsin needing time to heal his body and develop into a serviceable tight end over time. He has ended up doing more than that. In a Wisconsin passing game that could best be described as sporadic during his tenure, Ferguson has been the one constant. He’s been a reliable tight end for a multitude of quarterbacks – Alex Hornibrook, Jack Coan, Graham Mertz, and Chase Wolfand made plays no matter how banged up or bruised he is."

“He makes plays when plays need to be made. He gets open for a pass, he’s making a play. That’s the thing we preach about him is his unselfishness. He doesn’t care how many receptions he’s getting. He cares about winning, and you can see that with the way he works.”

“He’s unselfish in the run game,” Beach said. “He blocks the hell out of guys. It’s so awesome to see that.”

Dalton was drafted as a top blocking TE out of Stanford. But he was a horrible blocker last year. Ferguson has NFL TE blocking skills right now, knowing angles, leveraging and has superior on-field intelligence. In addition, he catches everything thrown his way. Great hands.

Lol....3 minute video how great a blocker he is...not one block shown...all receptions.

Go figure...

This pick basically is showing Schultz the door. Might as well trade him now and get something for him.

And in retrospect...I much would of rather had Ruckert in the 3rd and Shakir in the 4th...than what we came away with.

I thought it was going to be Shakir somewhere in the draft, since his WR coach is here....but Prince really liked Tolbert.

Nice! I also haven't heard anything about Dalton Schultz getting extended. Interesting.
I think he will. I see us getting a deal done with him soon. We have a great TE room actually if ya look at the guys we have. Sprinkle is just a pass catcher, but McKean is a guy that started to come on last year. We may have 3 really decent tightends. This may get very interesting man. Im excited. I think odd man out will be Sprinkle.

I don't know about that. Plenty of top level LBs that were/are about that height and weight.
Tony Gonzalez 6-5, 247lb
Antonio Gates 6-4, 255lb
Jason Witten 6-6, 263lb
Rob Gronkowski 6-6, 265lb
Travis Kelce 6-5, 256lb
But this guy looks like he could handle the weight right now it looks a little skinny

He needs to be 275 at that height, top-heavy
There are no 275 pound TE's, not that are worth a crapp. That is a normal height/weight ratio for a TE. Gesicki, Henry, and Ertz have the exact same height/weight. Several weigh less at that height.

There are a lot of scouting reports that indicate he is average as a blocker, and some even say below average, so I'm going to say it's way premature to suggest he will be one of the best blocking TE's the Cowboys have ever had.

But I do like him as a compliment to Schultz. Seems like a very solid pick.

Ferguson is a TE who can do a lot of things well but is not an overwhelming athlete or blocker. He is a solid route-runner w/good body control & hands to adjust for throws away from his body or through contact.

As a blocker, Ferguson wins w/good technique & adequate play strength & does enough to project to be able to stay in line at the next level. But he can struggle to sustain against longer & stronger defenders. FAR from being "A Steal"!

Who were you quoting on this?

Most people do.
Kiper has a job based on name recognition. Hire him as a GM and he would fail faster than Mike Mayock. It’s amazing that these media guys and some fans think they are more knowledgeable than teams that have a team of scouts watching film, interviewing the players, and working out the players. The most laughable thing is when I hear a fan say that a player was over drafted or they didn’t have the player as high on THEIR board.

Good thing b/c Steele is going to need all the help he can get.

Seems we go back to the Wisconsin well a lot. Must be the new Boise State. Meanwhile, the rest of our division is loading up on players from Bama, UGA, and OSU...... thank god they have bad QBs.
