The more I think about the Amari trade the more I like it

It is over and in the past. How about seeing what the WR's and TE's do this season then evaluate the moves. Let's see what Amari does in Cleveland also.

I am looking forward to see what Lamb does as the #1 WR, and Gallop once back on the field with that combo. Then ad Tolbert, many are high on him, and not just some fans, and the team, but the media outside of Dallas as well.

I agree, not to give Schultz a huge contract. But a mid level one I am fine with. Unless he balls out this season, then go from there. I think McKeon showed some promise.

Maybe, but I don't know if team spends "high" dollar to sign a guy that most likely won't be ready to play until mid season and is not even remotely in the conversation as #1 receiver. He is a less spectacular Alvin Harper.
Harper and Gallup. Interesting comparison. It’s hard to compare the 90s offense to now. Harper was a one trick pony. Gallup an all around receiver.

I hated to see Cooper leave but I also understood that with his departure would remove the 20 mill he was guaranteed to get this season. What I find amusing is how fans complain about his contract prior to being let go and that of other players and now whine because he was cut loose.

my opinion is that his contract was a bit too much, but we just reached the point of flexibility with it. the first two years were the difficult onces. basically had him on a series of non guaranteed 1 yr contracts moving forward and should have at the very least seen where this year took us. but spilled milk i suppose. really the thing i'm most annoyed with is franchising shulz

IMO, there's really no liking or disliking the move. It was a salary cap move that was necessary. If MM's plan is to have a contending team in 2023, then these are absolutely 100% the correct moves. I mean, look at all the big tough and mean players we've been adding to the roster. No more ballet dancers, these guys are mountain movers.

I would hope he wants to contend for 2022, but yeah, they still need a few more players, so 2023 may be more like it.
However, we can still hope for something to click and come together for this season.

What still concerns me is all the 1 year deal the FO does. Not a good way to keep consistent. But they did bring back some of the key ones, such as Kearse and Hooker, unlike previous year.
I expect the defense to improve in year 2 under DQ, even with the changes. Though we need to see how the run defense improves.

If the plan is what it looks like, then the contention starts in 23. Which is how you do it. You absolutely cannot contend every year. Trying to be a contender every year is what causes us to fail. The only exception is Bill Bellychickens, who can keep contending by taking C players and making them B players, sometimes even A players. Jimmy Johnson had this same ability. Marinate did also, to a smaller degree.

What if he was a Cowboy?:huh: Over under 20 games.
I actually don't think the league is against us in that way, unless of course you have dummy Jerry fighting against the Zeke suspension instead of just having him read the written apology. Zeke's suspension would've been cut back to 4 games if they hadn't fought it.

When Lamb, Brown, and Washington are our Week 1 starters I don't know if you'll be so enthused.

I believe Cooper will have a better season than any of our receivers this year.
Uhhh, hello? Cooper is the only good WR currently in Cleveland, so he's definitely going to get the majority of balls thrown to him. It's not that hard to figure out he will have a better statistical season.

He went for like 1400 yds and 15 tds last season? I don’t see how anyone can look at the subtraction of that kind of production and think it’s a good thing.

I wouldn't have paid Gallup so much to stay. Honestly this team still doesn't get it with resigning players. You resign great players to large contracts not good players. Gallup is a good player, not great. Amari was a very good player, not great. Shultz is a good player, not great. I really hope they don't sign him to a long term deal. I would've had no problem letting them 2 walk. Shultz could be replaced with the pick we just made or McKeon. Tolbert is very comparable to Gallup and Cooper. Receivers are a dime a dozen as are tight ends. Now you get your hands or could get your hands on a TO or Moss or Gronk, or a game changer thats one thing but for the most part they could all be easily replaced. Besides Randy Moss the QB makes the receiver.
So in your world you only have great players on your roster. Got it.

And it just doesn't matter. Coop was a salary dump, plain and simple, the type you have to do whether you want to or not.

I'm trying, but I think you're right. I just don't see the WRs in CLEV. Their 3rd rounder, David Bell, just isn't going to create enough separation.

I guess the hope is that speed demon Schwartz develops. He could, he has a lot of talent, but he sure didn't show any growth in his rook season.

Peoples-Jones is most likely a 3rd WR type.

That's a bit contradicting. Yes, we were shut down. WITH those guys. What needed to be done was build a bit of a different type of team. Which it looks like that's what we're doing. The best thing that could happen now is if we miss the playoffs in 22, and get the replacements for Zeke and the other overpaid guys and aim for 23. If that is what we're doing, this is a great plan. If not, then we're the same stupid team we've always been. Coin flip.
I don't think we have any intention of building a different offense though. I think Kellen Moore is pass happy and Jerry wants Dak to be Mahomes.

Therefore I feel like with those loses not being replaced with guys equal or better can only lead to worse results.

Correct. If our plan is the same ol' schtick, then we are most definitely worse. All comes down to that.

However, if the plan is the same, releasing Coop was dumb. If the plan has changed, smart move.

Which means nothing when he is the only WR target.

He also is playing with a qb who has shown a propensity to lock on one wr....
